Deads then bent rows even though I tore my bicep doing them undergrip with 405.....duh! but shit I could do 15 reps with it...... But deads bar none....#1

Agreed. Pull downs and chim ups tend to hit the lats more and are good for width. But for thickness the back muscles must contract "backward." That means deads and rows. Barbell rows are better than pully rows because the entire back must also stabilize.

Deads #1!
My second choice used to be BB rows, but I started getting elbow pain no matter what grip I used. Now my #2 is the Hammer low row machine.

my favs are deads, weighted pull-ups, bent rows, and shoulder shrugs!! though bent rows seem to be fading on my favorites list.... shoulder shrugs I just love an are great for upper back, and deads are a complete back workout from bottom to top and really round out the middle back, but tend not to hit the lats like weighted pull-ups which are great for spread

405 X 15 reps ? You're an animal, Quad. You're not allowed in my gym, I have to be the strongest guy there.

rows for thickness and weighted pullups for width. i haven't gotten serious w/ deads yet. will start soon though since i hear they're great if done consistantly.
