What do I have to look forward to in COLLEGE???

Iron Thrower

I will be going off to college in the fall. I am going to the University of Redlands. For those of you outside of California it's in Southern Cal, near the desert. I was just wondering what kind of things I will be able to look forward to while I am there. I will be staying in a dorm with one other roommate. I don't know who he is yet.

Is it really like I see in movies, parties all the time, beer bongs, people passed out, girls everywhere or is is different? I am looking forward to it. It will be a nice change to get out of the house also.

Just wanted to hear from any of you guys who are in college right now or who have been in college. I'm just curious as to what it is going to be like. Later, Tyler

the greatest thing about college is meeting people you would have never met if you stayed home..plus feeling a sense of pride while getting your education and having a blast..

but my biggest thing in college my past 4 years (i just graduated) was finding out who you are and how you stand in the real world. its a good feeling trust me bro..

teh partying and pussy is great and all, but the most valuable thing is discovering that you really are ready for anything :)

hope this helps :)

Most of the frehsmen girls hookup with upper classmen, leaving you with nothing but your beer and your right hand.

I joined a fraternity, pledgeship sucks, you WILL get hazed, but its all worth it.

I've never heard of your school, so I don't know if its "go greek or go geek"

You will be exposed to much better parties and much sluttier girls if you go greek.

As for your grades, don't fuck it up like most freshmen (including me). I'm trying to get into grad school, and my GPA would be so much higher had I not fucked around freshmen year.

So my advise would be to: keep your grades decent, but spend more time getting fucked up. You will soon realize that going to class at 2 in the afternoon is a little more convenient than getting up at 8am like you did in High school. Don't take friday classes cause Thursday is a HUGE party night. And living on your own is the best part. Enjoy college life, I sure as hell am.

Kak said it best. Fuck the people who say high school was the best time of your life. College was hands down. I got the chance to meet some of the most interesting people, have some great relationships, had some of the best jobs (get a job at a college bar, you won't regret it). Plus the feeling of independence. i really noticed that. I take it you're going away? You get a small taste of the real world. Paying bills, etc. I really think it makes you mature. I have friends who stayed home and guess what? They're still there at 23. They bitch about not meeting people, forming relationships, having fun. I feel bad for them.
College can be as crazy as you want it to be if you want to hang with those types of people. They're everywhere. Like kak and I pointed out, its the people. Meet as many as you can, makes for some great friends and stories later in life. Good luck and have fun!!

Thanks for the advice so far guys.

Natymike - I'm not sure about the fraternities, I am pretty sure that their are some. My school is not very big, only about 2 thousand students. They play Division 3 sports including football.

So what are frats like? What consists of all the hazing. Do they force you to drink and stuff like that, or just stupid stuff like running errands and being a bitch?

Take it easy guys. Tyler

iron, most frats won't make you drink because they don't want you to die, then they all get sued.

At first, everyone is your friend, pledgeship is not bad at all, then it slowly gets worse and worse, but you have the attitude that "well, I've gone this far, can't give up now"

They basically treat you like a bitch, usually never any physical abuse. Lots of push-ups, leg lifts, and various painful positions that you have to stay in for an amount of time. They line you up and scream at you, blah blah blah. If you keep a sense of humor about it, then its not that bad, because pretty much everyone of the "brothers" aren't even mad at you, they are just trying to break you.

I doubt they have a greek system with only 2000 students, but don't worry, I haven't done shit with my frat in over a year and I'm still having the time of my life.

Being the top dog of beer funneling?

(Do people still do that? Geez I'm getting old.)

GRADUATING!

Actually the best part of college was when we all piled up in one bed with Ben, Jerry, a few spoons and watched bad prime time TV. All the while pretending that we really didn't want to jump the bones of person lying next to you.

But hey, that was just my experience.

What do you have to look forward to? Wasting 4 years of your life when you could have spent 1/4 the time reading books teaching you the exact same thing that school would teach you while working and earning some money only to get the same exact job you'd have gotten after finishing college.

Sorry... rant. =)
