Im so sooo sick of seeing total utter stupidity in the gym!!! I laugh all i can but when it interferes with my workouts it pisses me off. Like if someone is using the squat rack to do curls when i need it to do squats. Im the minority in my gym. Its 95% mexicans. They bring new ones in every day. Its the blind leading the blind. Today. These two were squatting. Wow thats a step in the right direction. Well great except the bar was moving a total of 3 or 4 inches in both directions. Better yet the one was spotting other one by hugging him and squatting with him. It looked like they were humping. Then they were on the pec deck. This is the best thing ive ever seen. The guy was doing flyes and the other was spotting him by lifting the cables up with him. I think im gonna start takin vids. I cant believe the shit i see

I'm Mexican! So am I dumb? They prabobly dont know any better. I actualy am chicano (my parents are from mex but I was born in tx.). Do you go to a small gym? I go to lifetime which is really big and nice. There is a lot of personal trainers to assist. Maybe you should teach them. You could make some $.

well saying that the personal trainers help isnt soo true. some do but most are ridiculous. but no not all mexicans are dumb. Just the ones at my gym. I thought about helping but decided not to. I know what i know because i cared to learn. I took the time. I studied and read my ass off and tried a thousand different things.

It's almost new years, that brings out the best ones.
My favorite(happens every year) guy is the one who uses way to much weight and you can see him use every muscle in his body to move the weight. He makes bench press into a full body work out. Nice. After a half hour or so his body thinks it's dying. Of course the body starts going into panic mode and horrible gases start forcing their way out getting ready for that final poop before death. Usually the same guy figures you don't need to take a shower the day you work out because you'll just get dirty anyways. On occasion you can smell him go by, what a thrill then comes the military press and if your lucky you'll hear something and beable to escape, probably not. That's when the stench cloud starts drifting over the entire free weight section. Oh the joy, don't laugh or you might be accused.

I would think that guy can't move for a few days after the work out but sometimes your lucky and he may grit out a few weeks. They go away soon enough making Jan. my favorite month in the gym.

Outside of the regular stupidity people post about, the one that cracks me up are when people are doing dumbell work and decided to combine movements. For example I have people do piss poor curls starting with a 30 degree bend in the elbow, curl/cling the weight up to their shoulders and do an overhead press. When asked what he was doing a guy told me "I am really saving a lot of time in my workout by doing biceps and shoulders on each rep".

Another example I see more often, is a tricep kickback where at the bottom of the movement they swing the dumbbell forward and supinate the wrist to try and get a concentration curl in on each rep.

I used to watch a guy come in every day and on the hammerstrenght pulldown machine, he would put a 5 lbs weight and alternate sides so while he was raising one arm he was pulling down with the other, at high speed, so it looked almost like a big windmill going. He would do like 300 reps of this. They should market this as a cardio machine.

Tonight i saw a guy doing a NEW EXERCISE!!!! It goes like this.... do a curl using your whole body then bend 90degrees at the waist and let the dumbell hang to the floor then push the weight back so ur arm is parallel with your torso. These guys see me starin all the time. They must think im queer

the guy who bases his whole workout around one piece of equipment... so if you need to use it, you're fucked for at least an hour

the guy who will leave 20 plates on the leg press and expect YOU to put them away...

the guy who thinks he is a ninja... practicing weird fighting sequences in the middle of the gym floor...

the guy wearing extermely tight pants who absolutely does not want there to be ANY confusion about his gender

...and that's just from my workout this morning...

Well, unless your gym has limited equipment, or he is in the power rack, a guy using one piece of equipment the entire time should not really impede your workout. Then again, if he/she is serious about building strength and size and uses primarily barbells to train with, it is not like they have a lot of options on where to train outside the rack for most of their compound movements.

The leg press guy, report him to the front desk or management a couple times and see what happens.

Hahah the local gym kung fu master is always great to watch.

we have several of both of those....

I take over the power rack when I workout. It's all mine for the one or two hours I'm doing my thing. There's no better spotter and it's great for doing curls in.

Actually, it's still mine when I stop working out, too. You can't beat having a gym at home.
