All of those look good to me, I take all of those when cutting, maintaining, or bulking though.

those sound great..i seem to be fine on l-glutamine(high recommend), flaxseed oil and a multivitamin.

yea I take those year round, I was just wondering if there was anything else I should be taking like chromium picolinate ect...

Take a lot of glutamine. You want to make sure that you retain as much muscle as possible.

Take 5g after your workout and 5g before bed. That should do.

On off days, take 5g in the morning and 5g before bed.

I got a load of glutamine for cheap... but I work at GNC and know how to make things cheap. Anyone have a good answer? Maybe some online supplement sites would have good buys... Perhaps dpsnutrition?

and what brand?

thanks

Good bulk supps can be bought at

www.kilosports.com

It ought to stun you to see so many supps available at bulk prices. Do a comparison on a few of the pricier items such as Glucosamine and Acetyl L-Carnitine and you'll see what I mean.

But for GLUTAMINE, I did extensive searching and the best I was able to find was at

www.netrition.com

It was Labrada's and, at the time, it was $44/kilo. Even SuperHalo could look into this because GNC is $47-ish for a HALF kilo, then 50% for the next HALF kilo which comes out to $70/kilo minus his 30% discount ($21, $49 subtotal), plus tax ($2.50, $51.50). That's a $7.50 difference. Not huge, but if price matters, that's more money in our pockets. Shipping is like $4.95 so the idea is to get a bunch of stuff at once. Since I low-carb often, I shop there as they have the largest selection of incredible low-carb products and the $4.95 next day shipping is worth it for me.

Hopefully, you've read this far. ;) With what you outlined above, you need to make sure you're getting enough Magnesium and Vitamin D. Both Calcium and Zinc compete for Magnesium which they require for complete absorption, and the Calcium also needs Vitamin D which was supposedly misclassified as a vitamin and is really a hormone precursor. (www.mercola.com) At least 1000mg of Magnesium per day for starters....this usually clears up other problems too that people didn't even know they had because they got so used to them...general aches and pains, etc. And from what I've read, there's no OD'ing on Magnesium. You just might get the shits if you go way too high...so don't, ok?

Smokin,

Pills are easier to cart around with you during the day, but the powder is much easier to take because you can mix a lot of it into your shakes. When working hard, I take a MINIMUM of 5g in a late night shake, up to 10g. That's right GRAMS.

But some is better than none and some studies suggested that 2grams before bedtime would stimulate GH production. So try 3 before bed, and 2 after your workout. The bottle should last you about 8 days at that pace, right? lol

I'm tellin ya, www.netrition.com get the LABRADA

YW, Stiffler,

I'm kinda glad you came up with that one. I haven't done much reading about MSM but a) I've heard very good things about it, b) I've heard good things from people who've used it, and c) as a topical ointment it brought relief to a slightly arthritic ankle like I never dreamed it could.

I say go for it, and pay special attention in the following 2 weeks or so just to see if you can notice any difference in your joints, muscles etc. In fact, since you're going to be putting something into your body that you've had little experience with (the MSM) do a little skipping around the net and read a few articles on it so you know what's going in and what to expect, etc.

I'm going to start taking my MSM again.

stiffler if u cant afford it u should look for protein powders that already contain it. obviously less amount per serve...but its better than none!
AST sell VP2 which has it in

I can afford it, but I just cant afford to buy 1000g at once but I can come up with $30 but $53 is pushing it...

Stiffler On Budget

Stiffler,

I'd still stick to the Glutamine product with the MSM. They're both good stuff and the glutamine still accoutns for most of the container. Even though there are all kinds of arguments at how whey is more available for absorption than solid food protein, you can at least get your protein from chicken, tuna and eggs for now. Glutamine is important, get the one you're thinking of.

IDS and AR

is IDS a good company?

Stiffler,

There comes a time when I stop worrying and just go for it. I know there's plenty of examples of poor business practices in the world and the supplement community has its fair share, but except for downright horrible conditions, glutamine is glutamine.

(For the literal-minded precise types, that is referring to production, not the different types of glutamine such as L-Glutamine, Peptides, etc)

Glutamine is a no-brainer. Order, package, label, send. IDS doesn't actually make it. You might look into OPTIMUM NUTRITION too as they're well known for low-priced good products.

However, I just found a site loaded with supplements at lower prices than I ever found. The 1 Kilo (1000g) size of AR Nutrition Glutamine is $38.95 and the 500mg size is $19.95. I would be comfortable giving it a shot.
