Vitamin E

I picked up some vitamin E today on request of my training partner.
I have a quick question though, its 400mg of dl-alpha tocopheryl acetate?

how many per day should I be taking, he takes 2/day.

I'd go with 800 IU (That should be what your Vit E is measured in--International Units. I can't say I've seen any in mg, but not a big deal. 1 IU-1mg as far as I know)
Also, look for d-alpha-tocopherol. It's the natural version of vit E, and "dl-alpha-tocopherol" is actually synthetic; your body won't absorb it as well.

I'm not sure why your taking it, but if it's for DOMS, I've personally found that 800 IU post-workout seems to help a fair amount.
 
I would stick to 400 IU. That is about 1300% of the RDA. Too much can lower your blood pressure for extended periods which may affect your lifts.
 
i have heard barely any vit e actually gets in your system when you take it....i take 1200 a day just to make sure atleast something gets in there
 
Vitamin E is soluble in fat, same as A and D. If u take it with only water and a non fat protein powder virtually none of it will get absorbed. If u take it with a fatty slice of ham or whole milk it will be absorbed. Natural forms are better than synthetics.
