I don't know WTF Manheim is but I use Kelly's blue book and the difference there is almost $10,000.
I think what this also shows is that Supras hold their value WAY better than Vipers cos Supras are reliable and Vipers are notorious for mechanical failures including blowing oil lines.
Also note the race was a 3.0 L V6 vs. an 8.0 V10.
You buy a 1996 Supra, put $6000 in mods on it and it'll BLOW THE DOORS off a stock 1996 Viper GTS, you'll have $2000 left over to play with, AND you can use it as a daily driver AND it'll spend less time in the shop AND regular maintenance will cost less.

I own a car dealership......I think I'm a little more in tune with the market then anyone posting on this thread.
First: Kelly Blue Book, is published by the automotive industry to give you, the uneducated idiot consumer an idea what you should pay for a car.
Second: No online source other than www.manheim.com, will give you even close to an idea of a car's market value, and unless you have a dealer's license, you can't even look.
Third: Market value is dictated by resale + number of that specific car for sale or that have sold in a set period of time ie: fiscal quarters. (explanation to the layperson, you couldn't find 5 1996 Supra Twin Turbo's with 10000 miles on them if your life depended on it, thereby making this a rare and collectable car) So throw all your little internet price guides out the window little girls cause they don't mean shit in the real world.
Fourth and Finally: If you or anyone else can find me one 1996 Twin Turbo Supra with 10000 miles on it for $23,000, please p.m. me and I will pay you a $2500 finders fee. (that car will retail on my lot for $31,000 all day long.
Owned clearly not.

A $4,000 difference, take that $4,000 grand and beat any one of the stock Viper's I have owned, I dare ya. I races some douchebag in a 97' Twin Turbo last summer. This ginsel had $80,000 tied up in his Jap Crap......
