I have a friend here that has 800+ acres in a few counties over. There is a lake on his property that is named Nigger Lake. It has been on the maps for over 100 years.

About four years ago, the NAACP got wind of it and demanded that the name should be changed. After much heated discussion between all of the officials, it was agreed upon to name it Thurgood Marshall Lake after the US Supreme Court Justice.

Someone made the comment that it was no longer known as Nigger Lake but now known as Big Nigger Lake. True story.
