Sometimes, it really is better just to keep your opinions to yourself, instead of saying something because "It's my God given right as an American, dammit. Ni**er, ni**er, ni**er. Haha. I feel so much better now."

Most of the black people who use this derogatory racial slur (because that's what it is) come from recent generations. You don't hear many 60 year old black people saying "What's up ni**er?" Those people lived in a time when lynchings, and hate crimes were more of a reality than they are today.

I choose not to use this racial slur, out of respect for the people who are hurt by it, since it reminds them of years and years of fear, pain, anger, hate, and death.

Listen man, I see it all the time and I am sure you do too. The people who throw the word "nigger" around are kids in their teens or early 20's. Have you ever seen a black person in their 30's or 40's use the word nigger in the manner that these kids do?

What about these white or hispanic guys that use "nigger," are they suffering from this "social function" too? Funny thing is, the way these kids use the word "nigger" in every sentence probably just derived from a few guys using it as a joke and got blown out to the extreme. They weren't calling each other nigger 10years ago, at least not that I remember of.

It is just a trend among kids kinda like baggy jeans were for a while and hopefully it will die out. What is riddiculous about it is that some people actually get insulted by the use of this word but, I doubt, anyone did from baggy jeans.

Oh please post those studies you speak of. I am sure each one of them has been made by a black person that has never used the word nigger himself/herself and only concludes such a thing to lessen the riddicule on the whole race by the acts of these few thug wannabee's. I honestly would love to see these studies as I am sure it will be very easy to find flaws in them.

That's good and all, but who cares? You can have a million people with a word "PhD" attached to their name who will analyze the matter and maybe even come up with a conclusion, BUT WHO CARES?

This whole thing is just sad and riddiculous, and what is sadder is that young black guys and girls feel the need to use this word to fit in. I actually noticed my friend, who is black, actually use the word once when talking to another black guy because the other guy kept on using it ... trully sad. It just didn't fit with him, and I never heard him use it after that again. People need to understand that they can be considered "black" weather they use the word or not.

In this day and age, I believe that "ebonics" is one of the saddest things about this country.
