Ultimate Fighter, Season 2

And what is with Dana White continuing to refer to Brad as a 7 footer? There is a 5 inch difference between 6'7" and 7' which is considerable IMO.

That's what I was wondering. Of course I know who Dana White is, but still I have to wonder if that guy is Japanese and if he lives in the United States. Every sports minded American should know what a 7 footer looks like, what with Wilt the Stilt, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Shaq as our reference points. Brad Imes is nowhere near being a seven footer. Unless Dana White is 3'8" tall, I really don't know what he's thinking.

All in all, yesterday was a real treat thanks to Spike TV and the Ultimate Fighter marathon they ran topped off with the grand finale broadcast live from the Las Vegas Hard Rock Cafe. I was running around my apartment complex screaming, "Knees, knees!! Elbows, elbows!!!" I almost became unglued when my one neighbor said, "That's weird," but I kept myself in check.

Christ, I never knew even knew about UF1. I can't wait for UF3.

Knees, elbows! Elbows, knees!!

Hell, yeah! Every fight was action-packed! Kenny Florian did a good job in there against that muay thai fighter, although he looked about half his strength. Seems to me that the fights between Luke/Joe and Sanchez/Diaz would've had different outcomes if there was more time.
Joe was increasingly having a hard time getting Luke back on the ground. And at the end Luke got back on his feet. Joe at this point was pretty much running on empty and if there was more time I think Luke would've caught him w/ standing. Luke's standup was getting more effective as the fight went on and joe's ground game was losing its effectiveness. i think it would've been just a matter of time before Luke would've caught joe.
Same thing with Sanchez/Diaz. In the beginning, Diego was shooting pretty effectively, getting Diaz down to the ground before Diaz could initiate his standup. But as the fight progressed, Diaz was more able to defend against Diego's ground-n-pound. And toward the end, Deigo was running on empty and had difficulty effectively shooting in. Plus Diaz gave Deigo a pretty good cut while standing. At the very end Diaz managed to get up, and Deigo looked extremely exhausted. If there was more time, I think that Sanchez would've been too exhausted to effectively keep shooting effectively, and Diaz would've had his opportunity to stand w/Sanchez. Judging by how effective Diaz was during standup in the short moments during the fight, it would've been curtains for Sanchez.
But those are moot points, however; the 3 rounds are what matters and the "what ifs" don't.
I don't think that Sanchez has any idea what it means when the commentator says, "Talk us through this part" and they show a replay. What the hell did he say this time? Something like, "looks like two lizards fighting" after a long silence. lol. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. But Sanchez defeating Diaz gives credibility to the TUF show, showing that the winners can hold their own against veteran UFC competitors.

Speaking of Dana White, did you all see he was sitting next to that guy? Made me consider the fact that maybe Dana bats for the other team? He does have that kind of lisspy voice and fair maidenish pale face. Anyone know his story?

He's married and has kids - I think he was sitting next to one of the Fertita brothers - they are the $$$ behind Zuffa Sports - they are the UFC.

It would have been nice to have the highlights of the dark fights shown at the end of the TUF broadcast. I heard Josh Burkman's knockout of Sammy was brutal. It only took him 21 seconds in the first round to get the win.

Looking forward to TUF 3.

Thanks for the info 1392477.

Also bros, say a prayer for big Brad Imes. Ironically, his Mom died the day after he fought in Vegas. She was there at his fight Nov 5th at the Hard Rock, but died the next day from a sudden heart attack. I know when Brad won against Seth to make it to the finals, he looked at the camera and said "I did it Mom." So sad. He must be devastated...

IMO that fight just wasn t Finished . Joe took the first , they tied the secnd , and Luke OBVIOUSLY tok the third ...

I totally agree... I was astonished when the judges came back with a unanimous for Joe.

Wow great fight. Luke definitely surprised me with his defensive ground game. He should've also got a contract with joe like they did with griffin and bonner.

I agree
Dana White called it the grappling equivilent of Stephan vs Forrest
so when he said that I really expected a second contract for Luke
but with that performance, he will be invited to fight on the undercard of UFC ppvs as often as he's healthy and he'll get into UFC relativly soon I'd say

IMO Luke got friggin ROBBED . HAVING a position is not the same as DOING SOMETHING with one . Luke was still whuppin his ass from so-called "Inferior" positions the WHOLE fight . Its like the deck is stacked against strikers , because , well , they basically give credit for EVERY attempt at a sub , and every Posure gain , but they dont take them back for escaping the hold , or getting out of the POSITION . This is the only fight of the evening that would DEFINATELY have gone the other way if they would have been fighting till one guy was Unconscious . I think that Lukes BJJ game is VERY Defe nsive , but at the same time it was VERY Deep . Every time Joe went for the Knees he had his foot laced behind the other Ankle for defense ,

IMO that fight just wasn t Finished . Joe took the first , they tied the secnd , and Luke OBVIOUSLY tok the third ...

But if you can move the other guy around you get extra credit appearantly ... even if youre just moving him into new Positions to whup you from .

oh , and while Im talking abut Luke - did anyone see the kids MOM ? How did ANYON E as Ugly as that Cro-Mag looking kid come out of a woman that HAWT ??? TALK about your MILFS !!!

I agree with you
to me Luke won that fight
wow, I even agree with you about his mom, I mistook her for his gf she was so hot
my only real disagreement with your point is I'd give the second round to Luke as well
I hate how the average judge seems like if you stuff/sprawl/defend 3 takedowns and the fourth takedown just before the buzzer lands and the grappler does NOTHING with it, they'll give the grappler the round
to me that's just the grappler getting lucky...
Joe is good at getting a fight to the ground tho
that was a nice armdragthrow he did on Luke

There were two girls in the seats on Luke's side. Which one are you refering to?

Well , they were BOTH freaking hot , but the one in the White was the one they called his mom .... then again , they kept saying Brad was 7' tall (I guess Im 6'11 then , YAY ! NBA HERE I COME !!!)

But she DID look older ...

I wouldnt wave off a Sponge ath from either of them .
