what did you guys think
I kinda thought Rich would win but I didn't expect him to dominate The Crow like that
his conditioning tho inspired me I think I will incorperate sprints

glad GSP won, really didn't think it would go the way it did tho, Penn getting the better of the stand up and wanting to avoid GSP on the ground.
the decision I agree with tho a close fight that went to GSP

was suprised to see the kickboxer trinagle choke the better known mixed guy
and I thought nate marquordot (or whatever) did really well

would anyone else like to see GSP move up to middleweight and fight Rich Franklin?

Decent fight card...great battle between BJ and GSP. I underestimated GSP, he fought the smart fight. He stayed off his back, because he knew BJ could pass his guard. I think he underestimated BJ's standup, though. He did a great job studying the Penn/Pulver fight. He won the fight from the clinch.....kept him close but didn't go to the ground on his back.

I can't say I was really dissappointed in BJ's fight...he looks like shit at 175...I just thought the fight would go to the ground and then end there. He had an awesome guard and nulified GSP's ground and pound game like I thought he would. GSP took it to a decision, which is exactly what he needed to do. BJ needs to stick with the 155lb class. I think a Franklin/Hughes fight would be a nice match-up. I think GSP should go to Japan and kick Takanori Gomi's ass.

Franklin and Loisea happened and didn't happen like I thought. I thought Franklin was gonna take it down to the mats sooner than that....but he dominated like I thought he would. Loiseau gave me a JUMP when he clipped Franklin in the 4th round.:)

Dissappointments: Yves Edwards losing to the kid...doesn't look like the Same Ole' Edwards like we saw with Hermes Franca.....overall, he hasn't been the same since getting his ass kicked in Japan. Sad to see.

Even though we didn't see it, much props goes out to my boy Tom Murphy! Nice work!

edwards has nothing to be ashamed of,hominick is imo the best fight we have in canada,he has no competition here at all, they started bringing in guys from overseas to fight him in tko because nobody in canada could even match pace with him

Loiseau seemed overly cautious, not his usual aggressive self. I thought Franklin would be the more cautious one cuz of how dangerous Loiseau's strikes are (as he found out in the 4th!). All in all, it was an entertaining fight, though.

I really wanted to see BJ win, even though GSP seems to be the new posterboy for exciting fighters, with his spinning back kicks n shit...I just think BJ gets overlooked cuz he's not cut like a fighter and his style is more defensive. But the boy is good!! It sucks that he couldn't get another Hughes fight.

Pretty good show overall.

Pretty much as I expected except GSP vs. Penn. GSP won. GSP is the 'future'. Penn needs desire injected into his training. He has the skills, but is a richboy. He don't know what it is like to 'need to win'. GSP props to you!!!

Penn suprised me early - he looked really awsome for about the first 30 seconds of the fight. Thats when he did all his damage. Im not saying he was lucky but landing that one shot to GSP's eye and the other to the tip of his nose was kinda freaky in the amount of damage it did.

I cant understand why Penn backed off and fought defensive the rest of the way. That gave GSP time to recover and then confidence to launch attacks. That fight was Penn's to lose after the 1st round but he seemed indifferent. He lost because GSP had more heart/desire.

You're an idiot..."desire injected into his training"?!?! Yeah, and you need IQ injected into your brain. BJ is THE greatest fighter at 155lbs in mixed martial arts today...the fact that he puts on this 20-30 pounds of insane weight just to compete against everyone else is proof...he looked like a fatty at 175lbs.

BJ has been fighting in Jiu-Jitsu tournaments since he was 8...and not only did he win those, he also would go on to win the open weight class tournaments too.

Oh yeah, he also went down to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships and won that at the age of about 22 after only taking 3 years to get his black belt in BJJ. Yeah...no need to win what so ever.

BJ needs to stay at 155 and go from there...have you even seen the Gomi/Penn fight? "No desire to win"......Christ....that's like that one kid talking shit to Tiger Woods in the first round of the skins match.

I agree that GSP regained his composure ater taking a beating in the first. He underestimated GJ's standup...those shots that opened him up aren't lucky. I'm tired of people saying Penn got lucky here, Penn got lucky there, Penn got lucky against Hughes, etc. He busted Takanori Gomi up just like that in the first round too. People underestimate his strikes and get blood drawn by BJ all the time.

I'm not taking anything away from GSP. What an awesome fighter....I believe BJ Penn, GSP, Wanderlei Silva, and Fedor E are the greatest fighters over all the weight classes; welter, middle, light-heavy, and heavy. After GSP puts Hughes down, he needs to go to Japan and take down Gomi.

Chill out man, no need to start callin people names.

The question why did he back off against GSP? I mean he was dominating when he was aggressive, backing GSP up against the fence and winning every exchange. He didnt look tired, and if he had just continued fighting like that I doubt GSP would have withstood the first round.

If its not desire/heart what is it?

GSP is the future of the weight class and will take the belt from Hughes in the rematch.

Franklin looked great and should hold the belt for the forseeable future.

Penn is indeed sick. GSP just did what he needed to do. The gomi fgight was real good. I'd like to see Gomi switch to UFC. I think he'd do very well.

All great fights. You guys should of seen the undercards though...the best fight of the night was Sam Stout fight w/ Spencer Fisher. Those two put on the kind of fight that you would want to market and promote to draw in new fans.

"Franklin looked great and should hold the belt for the forseeable future."

I agree with this. But I also would love to see him bulk up a bit and jump up to 205 and bat with the big boyz. He walks around at like 210 and cuts to 185...so I think he'd do well. He always ends up lookin too pretty after his middleweight bouts lol

When he first came into the UFC he was at 205. He moved down to MW where he is more better. Him and chuck would be a good fight. Rich dosen't really have anyone in the UFC at MW to give a good match up now.

True, that was uncalled for...I retract my previous insults. It just kills me how people talk shit about someone who wins the World's down in Brazil, destroys Pride's best welterweight-Gomi who's like 24-2, and chokes out Matt Hughes. He's proven himself again and again, and yet people still hate him.

BJ needs to stay down at 155lbs, plain and simple. The guy's only like 5'7...lol. It's just that he's not scared of anybody, and is willing to step up to any fight, even if that means putting on 30 pounds of bad weight...did you see how fat he was, LOL. Try running the same distance and the same speed after putting on 20-30lbs of fat you're not used to. Remember when Penn took on Ryoto Machoado (not sure about the spelling), the dude is like 225lbs and Penn still accepted to fight the guy!

Penn doesn't know how to refuse a fight. That's just Baby Jay for ya.

How about a Franklin/Silva match in a cage? That gives me chills...GSP should also head over to Japan to get Gomi after taking Hughes down.

BJ loves to fight so instead of finishing GSP he backs off to play with him BJ probably forgot about the weight and conditioning factor which led to his down fall. If he had kept on he would of finished GSP in the first round.

I don't think BJ was playing with him, he wouldn't underestimate GSP like that. I think BJ should have kept hurting him the second round, but GSP played it smart and kept him in the clinch. That and, like I said before, GSP did not go to the mats with BJ in the guard....because if he did, his guard was going to get passed. When BJ almost got GSP on the ground being on top, I got excited....if that would have happened, I think the fight would have turned out different. Actually, I can't think of one time that BJ didn't grab mount or take someone's back when he was on top. Congrats to GSP and Franklin. Franklin to go after Henderson in Japan?

Sorry for the insult, but it was warranted...if you insult one of the World's Greatest welterweight martial artists, I think that the nobody posting those insults behind some forum deserves the same. ;)

what was up with his 'middle' stance instead of a usual fighters stance?
I think that hurt him more then it helped him

Rich is a good fighter, but he gets rocked by people not known for hitting power, at 205 I think Chuck would kill him
Rich vs Tito maybe

but I'd still rather see Rich vs GSP

ufc just ant what it used to be.they stop the fight way more then they used to.I reamaber when I was like 13 they would beat the liveing shit out of echother and no one would stop it.it was grate.
I loved the tank that guy was nuts.of corce hose grasy fucked him up but he was bad ass.

Id like to see him fight Matt Hughes.

Rich and Hughes? I'm iffy on that
Rich and GSP tho I think are pretty evenly matched
Rich may be too big for GSP tho I'm not sure of that
