detour bars by Designer Whey[TM]

Guys It was hell trying to find a site that allowed me to cut and past these ingredients list. Please try it yourself. This means one thing. (they really really really do not want you to focus on whats in the bar, or to share it with any one else). for good reason too. When i am done with this article you will be shitting your pants. Trust me i will not drop the ball on this one. It will be a very long though... Something you can all read over months of time.

Caramel Peanut:

Peanut Butter:
Ingredients: Designer Whey Protein Blend [(Whey Protein Concentrate, PDUF Whey Protein Isolate, Hydrolyzed Whey Protein), Soy Protein Isolate], Glycerlean [99.7% USP Glycerine, Taurine, L-Leucine, CLA], Milk Chocolate Flavored Coating (Maltitol, Fractionated Palm Kernel Oil, Non-Fat Dry Milk, Cocoa Powder (Processed With Alkali), Soy Lecthin, Salt, Vanilla), Sugar Free Caramel (Maltitol, Non-Fat Dry Milk, Fractionated Palm Kernel Oil, Cream, Butter, Natural Flavors, Salt, Disodium Phosphate, Lecithin), Water, Gelatin, Calcium Caseinate, Peanut Flour, Cocoa Butter, Rice Flour, Natural And Artificial Peanut Flavor, Mono And Di-Glycerides, Natural Vanilla Flavor, Potassium Sorbate (As A Preservative), Natural Vitamin E (As Mixed Tocopherols), Sucralose, Neotame.

But looking at the ingredients of the other two flavors (that aren't on Trader Joe's list), they look to be safe as well. Could it just be that Trader Joe's doesn't carry the other two flavors?

Ok lets start with the first part of almost every protein bar label

Chef Jays TrioPlex Duo Bars
ngredients:
CJ Protein Blend (Soy Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Isolate), Fruit Blend (Fruit Juice, Natural Grain Dextrin), Whole Grain Rolled Oats, Water Canola Oil, Marshmallow Filling (Sugar, Rice Flour, Wheat Starch, Corn Starch, Titanium Dioxide and Lecithin), Almonds, Graham Crumbs, Honey, Chocolate Chips, Vegetable Glycerine, Coco Processed with Alkali, Natural and artificial flavors. The protein. I mean after all this is what we all buy the bars for in the first place so this is one of the most important Ingredients ( or so we would like to think right)

So what does this mean, Protein Blend (Soy Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Isolate)

And why is the rest set between the two ( ) anyway?
Ok this is how it works. Label laws say you must print ingredients from most to least. It also says if its a protein of any kind you can lump it in with all the other proteins and slap it between the two ( ) after the words Protein blend.. Still with in the two ( ) you must print the types of protein them self from most to least.

This works out great for the Manufacturer for a few reasons. 1 is the fact that if they put a crap load of soy protein in it and a tiny tiny bit of others kinds. They can still list ALL the proteins as first on the list and what they have the most of. because together they all add up to what the bars has the most of. Split them all up and you might see soy protein listed as the 3rd on the list of ingredients and Whey Protein Isolate last on the list, or close to it..

See what I am getting at? Do not be fooled by this. It does not mean the bar has a ton of these 3 types of protein in it. And being as soy protein is the cheapest and its comes first on the list of proteins you can be pretty sure the (blend) is mostly soy protein. I would say about 80% but it could be has high as even 98% who the hell knows.

What we do know is the bar may say it has 24 grams of protein in it but 23 grams of that could be soy and the other 1g is another form of protein.. There is no way to tell.

Ask yourself a question. How come no protein bar just uses Nothing but (Whey Protein Isolate) or ( whey protein concentrate) and that is it? just one type as there protein source? HMMMM

Twinkies are soooo fucking good!!! I haven't had one in years but damn they are good...

I like the oatmeal cream pies better. Or a nice nutter butter bar. If I feel like taking a few years of my life.

Oatmeal cream pies....WOW...best thing evar!!! So much tasty shit that we can't go near...such a shame. I did have a nestle crunch ice cream they other day....And a bagel with cream cheese...a moment of weakness took over....

I've always wondered about the quality of protein in these things. They put the grm per bar real big on the label and I often think that the bigger they write it the lesser quality it probably is. I don't eat many of them but I occasionally find myself in a gas station starving and thinking...well it's better than a snickers right? Right? LOL. Maybe.

On a side note...I made yours last night needto and they are VERY good. Taste reminded me of something else I've had but I'm not sure what.
