took a pt test today

binö

Rob of Redford
Platinum
pretty happy with the results
esp considering i haven't trained for these events, i just weight train and run/hike.
haven't done a pullup since last april due to slacking.
it was pullups/pushups/situps/1.5 mile
i did 21 pullups/86 pushups/106 situps/9.20 mile and half
nice to see carryover action

This for your regular pt test, or something u need to get promoted? 300 in bct, hell yeah!

r

just something we have to do a few times a year
i'm not really sure what happens if you don't meet the requirements which are way easy.
your score was 300? perfect? what was the numbers

It's a bit easier for me cuz I'm stocky mesomorph built so pushups, situps are easy to max out. I hate running and really had to almost die at the end by pulling in some 11 or whatever. No way in hell i can do that again! :(

I got out as e-4. Just before heading to wtc. i never wanted to be an officer f/t.

just looking at the army pt chart, seems pretty easy to get perfect scores, esp for my age bracket.
13:18 2 mile for a perfect score? nigga plz

Was it for the military or a fire dept? Do u do CPAT?
CPAT is a bitch and a half for me.

Yea. I like watchin marines train. WAY better than porn.

Marines/Army boot camp aint' got shit on PT for becoming a cop. Try running 5 miles and enduring 6 month boot camps and then reading 20 big books with exams where if u fail, you get kicked out. SWAT? Multiple by 3.

In Army, our biggest brain challenge was memorizing some stupid army song and creed! In the military they kinda don't expect u to have a brain, just unquestioned robotic obedience. lol.

I always rated myself by the 18-25 standard. Push-ups and sit-ups were maxed easily. I always finished under an 11:56 on the two mile run..even when I was an old man.:)

I don't agree. I went to paramedic school at a police academy.
Yea, they do some tough stuff.... but they don't have shit on tha Marines.
Plus, I noticed you put "Marines/Army boot camp". Those are also not even close to being alike.

Have you been through either? They are the same in the sense you get fucked with and abused for no reason and sometimes for reasons...there is nothing magical or superior about marine boot camp. My Drill Sergeants were Vietnam Vets and they beat the piss out of us...I spent many hours in the sand pit with my platoon.

You spend all day in 110 degree heat practicing on the rifle range and find your barracks torn apart and the wall lockers turned over because inspections standards weren't met by everyone. By the end of BCT I spent hours in the front lean and rest being screamed at by my Drill Sergeant because I was a squad Leader and "rat boy" couldn't follow the most basic of instructions or answer basic soldiering questions. I helped him get his wall locker squared away before every inspection but he couldn't answer the basic knowledge questions or perform the basics of military tradition, no matter how many times I went over them with him...fuck!

No. I have not been in the army or marines. I just listen to the stories from a bunch of my friends. Some were army, some were navy. But I know tons of them. Funny thing is: Most of them are now working for the police depts

Well, you do get extra points on the civil service exam for being former military.

ummm..... they don't seem to smile as much or act nearly as goofy as the typical right-out-of-the-academy guys.
They look sharper(as far as uniform care and shiny boots).

Actually, a bunch of stuff.

I'm looking for your critique...what makes them different? :) We have time on EF for you to write an essay. :)

P.S. I e-luv you myway but I want you to keep it real. You and Ariel are my favorite E analysts.:)

Yay. Sounds fair. I appreciate that, and you.
There are exceptions. The guys that went to boot camp and got out asap after that, well, they blend well with the average police officer.
The guys that were in the military... for the long haul, espcially the older ones, well, the are a different breed.
Hard to anger. Didn't have the "respect my authority" complex.
Great communicators. Good at seeing through the bullshit. Straight to the point. Not "mean" really, ever ..... but people just "know" not to screw with them.
Commanding presence. Great at not letting scenes and sittuations get out of control.
Control without being control freaks.
These were not the men that went to the police academy because they were bullied and wanted a shot for revenge.
They are some of the best officers I have ever worked by.
AMAZING instincts.

Let me know when marines have to read 20 books in 6 months and take 5 exams and have to score 80% on all of them otherwise they get kicked out. Also let me know when you have to start passing polygraph tests to get in the marines. Also let me know when marines have a 1 year probation period after they graduate.

Just qualifying to even become a cop is like a 3% chance nowadays (3000 apply 90 get in). People think anyone can become a cop. Let them try.

But this is the important part: Marines die more during war. Their boot camp is designed to kill and save their lives. Not arrest criminals and testify in court. Marines and Cops are apples and oranges. :)

Ummmm...... yea, but razor, this is a thread about PT ... not books.
And you don't need to be a rocket scientist to be a cop, either. . . btw.

What he is saying is that Marines are "assault troops" they are trained to trade time for casualties. They aren't as a group tougher or stronger, they're trained for a mission like all military people ( Even the Air Force knows how to train their people). I know two guys that joined the marines and served honorably that couldn't tough out two a day football practices in high school. They could quit football easily but it takes more to flunk out of boot.:)

Yea. I know a bunch about the Marines. Spent over 3 years with one. My biggest and only REAL heartbreak.... ouch.
But gawd, I still love those Marines.
One of my best friend's was in the army for a long time. He's about 15 years older than me but I don't hold it against him, lol. He's a damn fine man. When he finally got out, he ended up supervisor of the paramedics in my city.... including me.
He's good times but strictly NO BULLSHIT.
He even suspended his wife(they were engaged at the time) because she was refusing to run a call.
She was refusing to leave his office ...... until he had dispatch have police en route to remove her from the property.
He prolly slept on the couch for the next month, but he didn't care. Everything was about "duty" when we clocked in. He made no exceptions.

I was a double volunteer, first for the Army and secondly for Airborne. We have the same attitudes as marines (Airborne)...we're also assault troops we are always surrounded and we're just as convinced of our superior status, and much less supported, than any Marine. Just because someone is more of a dick doesn't make them "better." I'll stand side by side with any marine and defend our country.

The Marine I was with is a scout sniper. He just got back .... again. Great guy but drinks WAY 2much.
I'm glad he's doing ok. He's been deployed 4 times, now. But his 2little sisters have gone over there,2.... so he doesn't complain.
Gotta respect men like him and you.

ummmmm..... I have spent MORE than my fair share of time with firemen(carpet tacks.... bc they just stand around..) and I don't know where u work but they should have explained a few things to u.
Ur a hero. Good for u. BUT even firemen need heros,2.....that's why God created PARAMEDICS.
U guys are great for putting out fires and tearing a door down... but usually can't think ur way out of a connect-the-dot
puzzle...
So u prolly should mellow out on the Marine trash talk. Especially if u consider that Captain Crunch is always out of stock .... bc of the fireman needing that crunchy post video game, pre-8th nap for the shiftsnack.
As far as needing smarts, fire academy is for the police academy flunkies that didn't want to get stuck holding up construction signs.
I send lippy firemen back to their truck on a regular basis if there isn't actually a fire. But u know what? THey don't leave until I say so. Paramedics are scene command in my neck of the woods... and most other areas,2.
So, stfu.
Go sit on the truck and I'll tell u when u can go back to ur uno game and happy meal u have waiting for u at the fire house. And why in tha fcuk(if u lard asses are so action-packed) do u take agility tests less than any other emergency worker? o-yea. Because most would fail if they weren't fresh out of the academy... and there are fires .. every now and then..so ur kinda needed but obviously let it go to ur head.
Dismissed.... from ur own thread.
Say wut u want. I don't give a fcuk. We both know tha truth about it.

lol. I just reread it. Wow. I got really pissed off about his Marine comment.
No, never dated a fireman.
But DID get a nice heart stomping by a Marine ..... and that's who I was defending, lol. Go figure:rolleyes:
That's why I always say bishes be crazy.

True dat...:)

True story...1989...

I was at reception Ft. Sill before BCT going into the dining facility and I was "shouldered" by a douchebag marine coming out, had I been cadre I probably would have kicked his ass, their ego knows no bounds. My father was a corpsman and the marines loved him.

Why can't you give a marine a fifteen minute break?

You have to retrain him....:)
