Too much sugar/carbs gets me drowsy.. Why?

No matter what time of the day, what meal I eat, I always feel tired. Has anyone experienced this?

For the past few months now, I've been feeling very sluggish. I went to the doc at first (4months ago) and he told me I had mono, which I didn't. Now, just last week I went back to him and told him I still felt the same and I'm not sure what is wrong. I told him I think I may have diabetes so he ran a blood test for me, but hasn't called to notify me. I'm assuming if I did he would.

No matter what type of carb food I eat, wether it be from veggies or a sugary food, I feel really lethargic. I think my sugar levels just sky rocket. About 2 hours after eating nothing, I feel fine. nce I eat again, I'm back into my sluggish, want to sleep state.

What can I do to get energy back? I think any type of energy booster would just make matters worse, but I may be wrong?

It's bulking season, so I can't cut out my carbs :(

Any ideas?

I understand that much.

But it's not just sugar, I mean ANY carb food. I think my body is fucked.. lol

I have a hard time staying awake in class.. That's my biggest problem. I just wanna pass out.

Drowsy on Carbs

Hey Bro! This sounds like Hypoglycemia to me. What happens is that you produce too much insulin when you eat carbs. It's like you injected slin. All the excess insulin pulls down your blood sugar to a point where you can't function. Look at the symptoms you get when you use too much slin. Drowsiness, mental confusion, etc. The test your Doctor should give you is an 8 hour Glucose Tolerance Test. Don't do just the 6 hour test, get the eight hour one. It is more effective.
I hope its not hypoglycemia, cause it tends to turn into diabetes.
Let me know how it turns out.

Also, you feeling better after 2 hours fits. The insulin spike you would get from the carbs would have worn off, allowing your blood sugar to come back up to normal. Sorry, I just thought of that.

I would try r-ALA before the carb meals.
Also, what else is going on? Did you cycle recently? You're in Canada so you can't use NYC but are you using ECA or Clen? Does this happen every time you eat carbs or just the first time you do it each day?

I just started a cycle this past monday.
My diet hasn't changed for a while now, nothing different.
No ECA or Clen.

It happens everytime I eat.. No matter what meal, or what day.

I had a glucose test done last week.
I had to fast for 12 hours.

I'm gonna check it out this week.

there was an older post concerning this. Someone mentioned (don't recall exactly) that as you eat carbs, insulin is secreted. Insulin thus shuttles everything in your blood stream. In doing so, it also shuttles tryptophan(sp?) which is a larger molecule which normally wouldn't cross the blood-brain barrier. End result, you get tired due to the insulin spike and trypophan (sp? again). Anyhow, it went along the lines of this.
