Thinking of buying a bike....

I had a CBR600 back in high school (1994), but I haven't riden since. I really have an itch for another crotch rocket.

I really like the R1s, but is this too much bike for me? You could say im a beginner again since its been 10 years since i've ridden.

Would I kill myself in about 3 hours on this thing?

Any other suggestions on what bike to look at? Thanks!

Bri

You have two choices neither is wrong:

Buy a 600-750cc bike and upgrade 2-3 years later.

Buy a 1000-1300cc bike and use restraint until you feel confident on it.

The CBRxx is very nice, but I don't own one.

If you have respect for the bike then no bike is too big. If you are in Texas I have a gixxer 600 for sale.

It depends on why you want to get a bike and what you will use it for.

If it was my skin on the line, I would go with a 600. Keep in mind that modern 600s are a hell of a lot faster/powerfull than they were in 1994.

Regardless, 600s will outperform litre bikes in the twisties. On the straights, you will hang with litre bikes up untill 120mph or so. At that point, the litre bikes will start to pull on you big time. In other words, 600s are hardly a downgrade from litre bikes.

I like my 600 ('02 R6) and I'm not sure that I will ever move to a litre bike.... There just isn't that many opportunities for me to go more than 120mph where I live and I don't want to go to jail for it.
