whats HIIT?

high intensity interval training. the training base is: high intensity intervals with low intensity intervals

whats regular cardio?

the good old morning walk, elliptical and so on

whats best for losing weight?

isnt that the answer we all want? a magicall answer for a "what do I do?"
truth is, there isn't one

I'm going to put it this way and I hope you (the reader) understand. Both will burn fat. but they will give you different results, phisically speaking

asking "between doing 30 minutes of HIIT and 2 hours of cardio at 80% MHR, what expends more energy?" is the same as asking "between running 100m and walking 100m, what expends more energy?"

the obvious question is running the 100m or the 30 minutes of HIIT

but if you say "between 30 mins of HIIT and 2 hours of cardio..." is a whole other story

but lets imagine that 20 mins of HIIT and 2 hours of cardio burns the exact same amount of calories, in everyone (even taking in account the post-exercise effects). theres no point in asking "what burns more calories?" now. the question is "what fits best my goals and likings?".

in the very end, its all the same

HIIT has a body response very similar to weight training, but it takes less time than cardio to burn X amount of calories because the physical stress is greater

cardio has a small anabolic response and takes a bit more time, but if you like to listen to music or simply like spending an hour walking, its your choice

there's more into HIIT and cardio, specially the hormonal responses... but I'll leave it to later. just wanna leave it clear that depending on the conditions, HIIT or cardio are the very same as it goes for fat loss

my message is, dont defend HIIT or cardio for everyone... because each person has their own goals

ps: adept of HIIT because it suits best for me
