I was thinking we need a thread set aside to get to know one another a bit. Everyone can share as little or as much as they would like to introduce themselves.

My real name is Sulma, just turned 21 last month and am originally from Mexico. I"ve lived in the suburbs of Atlanta Georgia since I was 6 years old. I'm a fulltime billing clerk in an outpatient alcohol and drug treatment center, and a 3/4 time student. I'm just starting my third year and still havent decided on a major. And I just celebrated 16 months with the same guy, which is a huge thing for me, LOL.

My wedding anniversary is 9/22 and it'll be 3 years this Sept, this is my 2nd marriage. I live in Wilmington, DE....I enjoy reading, watching home improvement shows, fitness/exercise, movies, doing home improvements (although I've been lazy lately)....

Hey Mel -- ok if I call ya Mel?? I know how you feel on the dating thing -- after my divorce I hated dating and I found it tough as I feel I was pickier and less willing to put up with BS being older and wiser, so to speak.....

I met my current hubby as the local YMCA I joined....I don't know if I can offer any helpful advice, but just take your time, be yourself and relax....

I would love to post up, but I can't really...

I'll post some pics in a couple of weeks.

I'm just a woman that is trying to live each day showing her children that you should never feel the need to ask the question, "Why?" ....but rather, "WHY NOT?!"

Think outside the box..... way fucking cooler doing things that way. Might be harder, but still waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fun. ;)

Hey Sweetwater.....that's where the "Lost Lake" is located, right? I want to go there.

And hey Jen. :D It sucks that your most special day was overshadowed by the previous day's diaster. :( :(

OOOOH hey we were interested in renting a luxury car for like special date. What cars did you guys rent? And what were the prices? (and sorry to hear about the layoff!)

I found that unless you REALLY are interested, it is better to just decline and wait for a guy that you *might* dig a tiny bit.

I am like, the queen of the quantity dating.

I want to get ill now.... LOL

I have pretty much given up. I don't find guys that I like, attractive and the guys that are physically *somewhat* attractive (I like a really odd combination of features - hard to find in my target age group) not at all likeable; in short, they turn out to be compulsive liars and straight up, fucked up.

My turn! My turn! I'm Janet - spelled like Janet however pronounced like Janette! 'Belle can back me up on this - it's a Mexican thang! LOL Yep, I'm a 24 year old Mexican-American to be politically correct... was born & raised in the southwest side of CHICAGO!! I'm still living here - although now in the suburbs of CHI.

I work downtown for the CEO of a company - Executive Assistant. Pays well, however it's NOT my life's ambition. I'm actually in the middle of interviewing for a new job & am now the finalist for 2 different jobs so I'll be forced to choose! We'll see how that goes.

Anywho...I love sports! Die-hard Chicago fan - win or lose. Football, baseball, basketball!

Oh yeah...and I have a fiancé... who actually moved from ATL to be with me - GOOD BOY! LMAO!

Yes, I´m Finnish by birth. Finnish is the language we all talking here :) They speak Norweigan only in Norway.

I have been told by many the Finnish and Hungarian are similar languages. Oddly enough, I can find NO similarities! LOL

My name is Dayna 24 soon to be 25. I live in Toronto I have been in the big city 6 years in August. I was born and raised an hour west of here.I am a fulltime IT sales rep and a sometimes bartender/cocktail waitress. I am single and loving it. ;)

They don´t sound similar, but they belong to same language-"family".

I have always wondered about that. I have spoken with a few Finnish peeps and we could find no common word roots or anything.

Do you know which "family" it would be because I haven't a clue! LOL

Divorced, and engaged to Wutangnomo and will be moving to Canada when married... YOOO HOOO.... I am self employed, and work from home. And as to your advice on dating, well when I got divorced I said I am not looking b/c I dont want another one like that, well fate stepped in and said I dont think so there are good ones out there. I guess my advice is if you arent looking then you happen upon the good ones then... When you are looking then you fine the bad ones. Just take your time...

My name is Kate. I'm 25. I just bought my first house a few months ago and my fiance and I have been remodeling it since. We're hoping to move in this weekend. I work full time in accounting...which pays the bill but isn't my cup of tea. I start full time school again on Monday night (for nursing).

We have 4 ferrets and are likely going to get a puppy or two this summer. On my spare time I love to cook, read, and be with my family. :)

And I always wondered....do insurance agents get cheaper rates with the company's they work with?

Hey Pamela, hey Lanette, and hey Naqia. :) :)

Damn you girls are all way up North (even Indiana is way north by my standards). I'd fricking freeze solid the first two weeks of winter up there. Georgia is the coldest place I've ever lived in my life, LOL, and it doesnt exactly get bitter here. :lmao:

Let's see.

Krystyna, 34, born and raised New Yorker (gave up the city several years ago to live in a cottage in the middle of nowhere in The Hamptons), interior designer by trade (30% designer, 20% relationship therapist, 20% slave driver, 30% bill collector).

I'm as quiet as I am goofy and sarcastic (father's side) - I adore my privacy and time to myself (still father's side) even though this can drive my friends insane but they know that when they're in need I'll always be there. Reader writer and painter - yet mostly just a reader these days. I enjoy my simple life while the insanity of my work balances it all out. (father's & mother's side)

I love to cook (mother's side), bake and feed people and maybe one day I'll come up a way to do my interiors and still get to feed people or maybe at least I'll just write about it all.

Fell into fitness via figure skating years ago and it's just a part of life and it keeps me happy and able to eat whatever the hell I want (er, at least half of the time).

Hi Everyone -

I'm Julie, 28, live in Chicago. Born & raised in Milwaukee, so I'm an all-around beer-drinking, cheese-eating midwestern girl. :)

I moved to Chicago 2 years ago with my boyfriend. We bought a condo this past April, so I've been busy with all the new home owner stuff. Like Janet, I work downtown. I'm in finance. It's not what I really want to be doing, but it pays the bills. I love to cook too! Someday, I'd love to open my own cafe.

Thorry! :worried:

;)

Right... carry on then.

I just turned 38 last month and come Sept. I'll be married 20 yrs. to the love of my life. We have a 12 y.o. daughter...she's not gonna be a teenager though...gonnna keep her at 12 till she's 21. :D I grew up in NYC but moved to Tampa, FL in the late 80's and absolutely love it!

I work for my husband part time in retail and part time with internet businesses from home. Fringe benefits are the best! ;) I love to train, cook, garden, enjoy music, spend time with friends, shop, and have sex. I'm bi and hubby and I have fun enjoying that together.

Current stats are 166 lbs, 15.3%bf, 5'3". When I was pregnant I gained 60 lbs and kept it on for a few years. I did every diet in the book and joined the girlie gym to no avail or at best yo-yo'd back and forth a bit. A few years ago I learned how to eat and train right, thanks to my husband and sites like this. I'm still working hard at improving my body and have a long way to go. My next goal is to get close to 10% bf and get a tummy tuck. Hope to be there by the end of summer/early autumn.

I've been online since 1992 and my first computer ran on DOS and didn't have a mouse. It's been fun watching the net develop into what it is today. I belong to too many boards but I mod on SuperiorMuscle and the HookUpBoard so that's where I spend most of my free time. I've met some truly awesome people online and a bunch of them live near me so we get together fairly often. :)

Woman you are buff! I had no idea. That's an LBM of 140 lbs at only 5' 3". Damn.....

Yeah, she is!! Whew!! I wonder what she eats everyday....

Puddles, you are one strong woman!

She could pound my sorry ass into the ground... no doubt! :rose:

The only pounding I'd want to do to you would be with a strap-on. ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist. LOL

LOL Thanks for the ego boost girls!

I eat pretty clean, lots of chicken and fish, a little red meat, brown rice, egg whites (when I can tolerate them...they've been nauseating to get down lately), nuts, and lots of veggies and I really try to eat every 2-3 hrs. I can't tolerate protein shakes so all my call’s come from whole foods.

My downfalls are alcoholic drinks and dairy. I like my coffee very strong but very light with 2% milk (I'd guess I was drinking at least a cup every morning) and fat free coffee mate (a few tsp. in every cup and I drink 3 cups every morning). Last week I just started drinking black coffee every morning and I'm down over a pound at 164 and change last night. Coffee in the afternoon was with half-and-half so add up the extra call’s in that...grrrrrrrr. I think with just cutting out the dairy I'll be able to see a huge difference. My drinking has been almost none at all for the past few months but over the winter I partied too much and it really showed. Being so short, the 25 or so pounds of fat really show so I'm trying my best to lower that. What good is being muscular if it's covered by a layer of fat so you can't see the definition, ya know? I'll put a few pics in my gallery I took last week.

I gotta admit, it feels really good to be strong. This morning my neighbor and her friend together couldn't hitch her camper to the back of her truck but I was able to do it. :D

Wow Puddles!! You have added some size!!

I hear ya on the coffee thing -- I like mine dark, strong & light and I loooove that FF French Vanilla Creamer!! I'm going to try giving up dairy once the creamer I have and the gallon of milk I have is gone......sigh.......no more cheese & crackers or SF, FF pudding.....:(

Havent really ever gotten into the coffee thing, my thing is diet colas (diet pepsi and diet Dr. pepper) been loading up on the green tea and water recently. I have lost about 7 lbs since I started eating clean, thought I would update you all....lol.... But you ever notice those foods that you really didnt eat all that much, but now you crave them (ice cream, chocolate). I have eaten so much fish and chicken I swear I am growing scales or else it is feathers, I told Wutangnomo that if I started flapping my arms and strutting around the house to please put me out of my misery...lol... Well enough for now, god I really want some ice cream. (doesnt help that it is so hot outside) Talk to you all later..

I'm Mandie, I live in Ottawa Ontario, have 2 boys Kyler who is 3 and Aleksander 19 months, I've been with my boyfriend/partner for almost 10 years now.

I just started losing weight and getting into better shape this year. My sister got my butt in gear. So far I've lost about 70lbs.

I was given this site by a friend who has been encouraging me, to check out some routines etc..

WTG, Mandie! This site helped me more than I can say when I first started training and really learning about nutrition. I'm glad for you that you found it too! :)

Anya...stop making puddles on the floor, that's my job! :D

You know Puddles -- I may have to break down & have coffee with Vanilla creamer tomorrow.....even tho I'm not supposed to have it!! BUT -- here's the saving grace -- I need to use it b4 it goes bad, yeah, that's it -- use it so it's not wasted....

Oh and I want to buy some of those Davinci syrups when they go on sale next time....they have different flavors & are SF & I think all the rest of the #'s are 0's

Holy Hell Puddles - you are one solid looking hot momma! You have made AMAZING gains over the last year or so - AND you had to take time off from the surgury issues.

You are one helluva inspiration.

I lost 40 pounds and now have just been pretty much maintaining and lsoing some bf. I was down to 19% as of yesterday. I have some pics posted over in the members pics.

Yummmm! I had some SF raspberry yesterday at Barnie's. Where do you buy it in a bottle?

Thanks for the compliments girls, the encouragement is inspiring. I'm really looking forward to getting to 10% so I can see some definition in my arms and back. I wish dieting and cutting was as easy and fun as training and building muscle!

I got some SF Vanilla Syrup at the grocery store yesterday.....it was $4.99 but I decided to splurge....it's pretty sweet but good....I like it.... :p

Intro time huh? :) I fell in love with weight lifting and body building when I was 16. I started lifting to get bigger for ice hockey and was addicted shortly thereafter. After graduating high school I joined the Army and lost the time to train hard and all of that hard work went down the drain. I was a killer when it came to push-ups, but my monster back disappeared quicker than I'd expected. Once out of the military I spent more time at a desk in front of a computer than I did in the gym (bad girl, I know) Now that I'm in my mid-late 20's I want to get back that 18 year old figure... HA! that won't happen, but I would like some size and definition by the time I sign on with State Patrol. I don't think I'll ever train as hard as I did in my teens, but I do miss that adrenaline addiction.

Seriously dirty~d~, if you train well and eat right, you can look better than you ever did at 18. The first week or two is always a little hard when you're getting back into things but after that it always seems to make you think "how was I not doing this". :)

Raina - Thank you for the positive words. I know I could more than likely achieve the same look I had at 18, but my lifestyle these days limits the time I can give to weights. My goals as of right now are to regain my strength and increase my mass (I'm sick of people telling me "you're so skinny") Maybe down the road, when I have a schedule figured out that will stick, I'll go for ripped. :)

I must say again I'm very impressed with the information on this board. I like seeing so many women involved and willing to help each other out.

I live in Northern Ontario currently. Hopefully in the near future I'll be moving either to Virginia where my man has been for the past few months(Long distance relationships are definately draining!)...if the employment situation doesn't work out soon I'm gonna head out to western Canada. I started lifting weights about a year ago to get healthy and tone up a bit. I have kinda taken a break from it recently since the bf left town...haven't had much motivation  I'm fortunate that I have a fast mataboliam and don't gain weight easily--but don't gain muscle easily either! Really hafta work hard for results...and I enjoy junk food a little too much!

It's refreshing to be in a place where women are supportive of one another-- it seems like in our every day lives we sometimes feel like we're competing or something instead of encouraging one another be being inspired by the progress of others.

I can relate to the "you're so skinny" deal. What's funny is that I don't weigh that much less than I did in high school but I'm 4 sizes smaller. Lean mass is like magic. ;)

Do you lift weights at all, or are you doing only cardio? Or do you even work out at all? Your picture looks great. I am getting married sometime soon, and want so badly to get back into shape for it, and just for the healthy lifestyle. But I am getting out of a deep depression currently and searching for the ambition again to get going... I just need some sort of emotional help. My fiance does body building and is a member on this site... he said I might find some sort of emotional support (female wise) here. Since I don't really have girlfriends, since I don't hang out with anyone other than him. ;) Any advice, words of wisdom or anything anyone can give me that would be great!

Honey, I hear ya! It's hard to get going again. My bf was my workout partner/trainer :) He was my motivation to get healthier. The gals here are so good with information and support when you need it...where are ya from? Do ya work out now?

I am in Utah, and I try to work out.. It is just that I don't have a car and it is hard for me to get to the places I need to go to do weights. And cardio in the morning, my fiance is supposed to come over and wake me up and we go running or something. But we really like to just lay there till we have to get up and cuddle... so I try I really do.. especially since he and his best friend are big work out people. But it is so hard! And I don't know what to do! I am trying so hard too! Arg I dunno what to do! I need help in anyway shape or form, arg!

Cardio? Now why would I do a silly thing like that? lol No, I do a little but I'm not going to lie and say I do much. I do some HIIT for 20 minutes a couple of time a week but otherwise I just lift.

My sister just graduated from college in May. She was a college swimmer for her whole college career. For about half the year she was doing close to 40 hours of cardio a week for 4 years. And her fat % was still quite high. She didn't want to lift...didn't think it would work. She attributed my body to being a "bitch". lol She didn't get that I was eating right and training. Now she's been eating clean, doing a little HIIT, and lifting 4 days a week...and has dropped 4 sizes in the last 2 months. She can't believe it.

I'm REALLY excited for my current course to be over because she and I are going to start training together 4 days a week. It should be really cool and motivating to do that. Plus she is still learning!

hey ladies!

i am brand new, but have lurked for an eternity because i was so intimidated. but it's all good now because we have a little sanctuary here, free from the wolves outside :)

i just thought i should introduce myself before i dare impose my thoughts and such ramblings on you all. so, to be brief, i'm 21 and love health and fitness, mainly cardio, my university studies, shoes, stilettos, and slingbacks, fashion, and books, and sushi ;)

Hi Ladies,

I'm a new comer to this site, and just thought I would introduce myself. I'm 27 years old, and live in Montreal, Canada. I have a serious boyfriend that I've been with for over 4 years. I have no children. I'm an accountant at a small company in downtown Montreal, so I have some free time throughout my day to search the net. I found this site, and found it very interesting.

You are my new best pal. Had to hit you up with some coffee karma for this post. Are you a coffee snob like me or will any old bean do you? I buy my beans green, roast them and grind them.

hey brunette and anya :)

Im a semi-snob when it comes to coffee.. Im a student so I often have to opt for the cheapest shit there is, but when I can afford it I wont go for anything less than the best fairtrade coffee beans :D

My name is Michelle, I am 25. Live in Jersey. Originally from Manalapn, just moved to Jackosn 6 moths ago (hate it!) I would love to move to Florida someday w/ Bodytemple75 who I have been dating for 4 1/2yrs. I work for a promotional company. We sell Promotional Items to businesses. Interesting business, I really enjoy what I do but I am looking for another job because unfortunatly I am underpaid at that company. I was going to Rutgers University, I wanted to get into Public Relations. I stopped going with only 20 credits left before I got my BA. Hopefully one day I will finish...

they're green beans though, gotta have your own roaster.

Greetings,

Hi my name is Rachel, I am 29, and from KY. I was always heavy as a chld, and in my early 20s ballooned over 350. Two years ago I shed over 120 pounds by sheer willpower. I currently weight about 205, and have made up my mind how I want to look! Luckily, my Lifepartner is raring to go to get back in shape, and is very experienced with weight-lifting and such. I am making a start, and these boards are very helpful for me.

Hiya,

I rarely post but I thought I'd introduce myself none the less... I'm 26 years old and a total endurance sport junkie. This is my second season racing (triathlons) competitively and I've placed in all my races this season... though I broke my ankle early on and thus my training and racing is not where I'd like to see it. I worked 4 years in the non profit sector, just recently resigned my position as Director to pursue my dreams of running my own winery.

Pleased to meet y'all :)

Welcome to Rachel, karen, and Tri Girl. :D

You ladies might already know that the Women's Fitness forum has been in place for several years now and has an incredible amount of valuable information in old threads. Since you ladies arent paying (platinum) members you might want to go to the bottom of the page and click on the successive page numbers to surf backwards in time if there is a particular subject you'd like to research.
