The Best Advice

Have you ever had anyone who is completely out of shape ask you for advice?

At first I would say what I thought was best in regard to a training philosophy .

Then I tried to break it down in simpe terms.

Now I just say; "Yeah, go to the gym every day for 15 minutes and do anything."

I figure if they do that, they'll start to see results. Most people won;t even get to that point. But if they do, then they can come back in 6 months and ask specific questions.

This way he doesn't waste my time and I don't waste his.

Thats good advice sometimes anything is better then nothing. If they are really overweight even walking stairs or parking farther away in the parking lot can yeild results.

very nice. Making it through the gym doors is the half the battle. Not really. . . . but for the beginners and/or the one's who can't seem to make it a part of thier day.

The best advice for a completely out of shape person is to improve their diet. They will see results without even doing exercise. Then to take it to the next level they add exercise in. IMHO.

But your diet can be fine and still be out of shape from lack of exercise.

Yeah, but if they just watch the diet and eat healthier they will start to lose wieght without even touching the gym. When they start seeing results it motivates them to go to the gym and get better. I told this to one person. Without touching a weight and eating 6 times a day healthy this person went from 128 to 115 and felt motivated to go to the gym to shape up. Most people though I tell them the fact they are in the gym is a good start.

changing diet is wonderful, but one muscle that would benefit from excersise is the heart. get that thing pumping right. if they can go into an environment(gym) and see other people suffering thru it would hopefully keep them motivated, see results faster and add motivation to not cheat or splurge from thier diet

Get to the gym... if they can’t do that then they’re not going to eat right.... We are talking about someone that wants to get into rip shaped or bigger then ripped shape, not just a south beach diet for that they can find elsewhere.... Plus I’m not going to right out a whole diet for someone that’s not in the gym...eating correct is the harder part of the two so let’s start with the easer one just go to the gym and get your muscle working.... going to the store getting your food making all your meals for the day someone not motivated to go to the gym is not going to be motivated to make 7 meals a day..... I still agree with NM and that is the best way after 2 months you will be ready and motivated to eat correct all 7 days..... Just my opinion and strongly agree with NM.............. You will discourage a lot of people if you give them a complete diet right from the door..... It’s just too much for them ...just go to the gym and have fun then after sometime you can start to dial in on diet..................
