The 6000 LB Challenge

I did this today. It was my long endurance day and I had to cut it short after 4 miles (inner leg rash). I was looking to do something more and I though of the challenge.

Used 2x25, for 64; just over 10 min.

I burned myself out way to early. Tried for 24x20x20.. Ended up getting something like 24x10x5x5x5x3x............

Slow and steady wins the race I guess.


No bumper plates, and forgot all about them after about the 12th rep.

Actually I am beginning to think that some people are spending too much time curling in the squat rack to give this a try.

I couldn't get to the gym today. So, I thought I would try this. I wasn't sure if I could do it. The bar I have is a reg. 45lb bar so... I put 2x20. I couldn't get past 46. so that's only 2990. It's cool that I don't get anything I wasn't really doing it for that reason. BUT .. I'm trying again next week!!

whats the best time so far? i am new to weightlifting, but i will try this. whats the best way to get to 6000#'s? just an olympic bar with lots of reps, or by using heavier weights?
time is the key, so i imagine its best to experiement on a few ways to do this.

I think I'll be able to video it tomorrow. By the way, I love your quote from Mark Riptoe about deadlifts. Whenever someone asks me how much I bench I respond with "how much do you deadlift?" They always go, "Huh?"

Well I did yesterday with 95 lbs for 64 reps. Got the first 30 super quick, then slooowwweeedddd down a lot. Got it in 10:04. I felt like I just did my fastest 2 mile time :eek2: Super oeverheated, and really thirsty and out of breath. Next time I do it I'll video. I also need to get the software for my video camera installed.

its just a vid of my in the garden muscle snatching an aliminuim short bar loaded with some small plates for 10mins lol its boring as fuck and a bitch to upload, ill send it you via msn instead if you like next time your online?

I would post up, but I was sick for the rest of the day last time I tried it - so I'd have to be feeling crazy!
