Still working on getting better!

Thanks Steve! Couldn't have done it without this board. I have no idea what my BF% is or was. And yes my quality of life has increased exponentially.

That is basically Jan 1, 2011 - Today.

Im 5'9

Start 285
Today 235

I bought a powertec home gym and hit that bitch hard. Just did every exercise as heavy as possible. Low reps heavy as shit. Did use some gear even though I know that will get me a lot of flak due to my BF% but I always believe honesty is the best policy.

I'm now doing 10 reps of 415 on flat bench so I'm just having lots of fun now!

Hopefully soon I'll look like you guys!

Thanks again for the kind words.

Bro your work and you are outstanding!
You truely are an inspiration to everybody on this board.
Nipple shakers for you brother!!

Wow all thank you so much. It's going to make me push harder for sure! I always thought I was a strong guy even as a fatass but I really have surprised myself. I don't know if I should try to get any stronger. I'm worried about my joints, tendons, getting a hernia etc.

WOW! Is an understatement. Phenomenal job man. My dad looks how you use to and doesn't believe it's possible for him to get in shape because of his age. He's 58 and doesn't look a day over 45. Well except his weight. My family ages well. I'm 29 and people think I'm between 18-21. I'm sure you're way younger than him but I'm still going to show him this for motivation. I got him on the right track diet and training wise but he can't see the final product of what he can be, like I can. Thanks for the post bro and keep up the good work!

Radar,

Your posts have been part of the bible that helped me this far! I have read that post about 50 times! What do you think about beans? I eat the hell out of pink beans, breakfast, lunch, dinner (with other stuff of course) they give me energy and have decent protein.

Beans are full of fiber & Protein
Beans,Dried Beans,Black Beans, soybeans & Black beans,Kidney Beans

Post 6 Many countries in the mid-east use garbanzo beans (chick peas) as a primary source of protein. In fact, the popular falafel is made by frying a garbanzo bean mixture in small balls - these fried falafel balls are usually served with yet more garbanzo beans in the form of hummus. Hummus is a paste made out of, you guessed it, more garbanzo beans.

It is an interesting case of a type of food being flavored by more of itself!

I've read in a nutritional book that beans lack the full amino acid spectrum and therefore, to gain the full protein benefit, it is better to eat them with rice or corn based foods that will make up the other amino acid. If this true, and how does your body combine them to make it so? You can do this by adding BCAA's or even Gear (NTBM)
Just came from large chain grocery store & dry beans there listed lentils as having 10g of protein per 1/4 cup. That would be 40g per cup.
Also dry pinto, navy, & great northern beans were listed as 8g of protein per 1/4 cup so that would be 32g per cup. Not Bad when you tally it all up!

The discrepancy has to do with whether the beans are cooked or not. Very generally speaking, 1/4 cup of raw beans turns into about 1 cup of beans after cooking.

All beans are high in fiber, protein and antioxidants and at the same time low in fat. A great health food that also keeps the weight down.
SoyBeans are the highest followed by Black Beans. So Chow down.:)

I' m Happy i have Been of some help to you.

Do you all think needto's 10-20 lb fat loss challenge he posted recently can help take me to the next level?

Also should I continue my very heavy , low reps, 5 sets routine I have going now? Or should I change to shed the rest of that blimp?

When it comes to loosing weight there are no short cuts.
I have over 40yrs in this field.

Are you someone who carries weight and bulk naturally like I am? Or were you more of a lean/skinny guy before you started training? I wasn't always fat like the 1st pic. I was 190lb in high school and an athlete . I'm 28 now. When I went college I ballooned up 100lb and was just soft and fat. When I graduated in 2005 I lost it all back to 200lb but had NO muscle. Did it in 6mo. This time (the last time I'll blow up again) I did it with all weights and cardio.

In my 40's I bulked onced got up to 260lbs of Muscle at 5ft 8" i was strong as hell the problem, walking up a flight of stairs had me sweating profusinly ,Right now 198 is just about right for me.

Dude. You look awesome. Congrats. You should be proud of yourself. I wish I had saved my before pics, I threw them all out from embarrassment. I went from 285lbs down to 185lbs with diet and cardio. Then got in the gym and worked myself up to 220lbs at sub 15%. This is an amazing success story!

That is an awesome transformation brother. I was wondering if you ever considered switching it up for a little while and doing slightly higher reps in the ten to fifteen range with less weight. This may shock your body and take you past the plateau you say you are at. Also, how much cardio are you doing right now and when do you do your cardio if you do? I like doing 30-60 min of cardio 30 minutes after I wake up. (I take a fat burner immediately upon waking)

Thanks again everyone... Really means a lot. I would consider doing anything that would get me closer to my goals!

I run with the GF for about 45mins every weekday morning at 5:00am, medium intensity. Running always ends up hurting my lower back and I actually threw it out yesterday so I'd really like a cardio replacement. I take forged burner right when I wake also. What do you take?

Not sure what a GF is BUT! if you're getting cardio out of it ,then more power to you.

What is a GF anyway?

Another good way to speed up fat burning is to do max Sprints until you stert to burn out ,then drop back to med intensity, when you're ready full bore ahead again,do this several times it will speed the fat burning process.

Will try that in the morning Radar.

GF = Girlfriend, old lady, baby momma, lol!

(sigh) For the life of me the first time i read it i just sat there trying to figure out a machine that starts with GF, I instantly caught it after reading a second time.Such is old age :(
