My insomnia is seriously off the charts. I tried to go to sleep at 10pm. A new goal. Here I am. 10mg of valium, 2mg of ativan, a few klonopin, 3 glasses of wine and a lunesta. I was in bed for 2 hours...trying to sleep. I read for about an hour because it sometimes relaxes me. But here I am. I gave up. I'm sitting at the computer with another glass of wine. I feel kinda stoned from all of the sleeping pills but can'tsleep. This is what's gonna happen, like every other day: Around 4am, I'm gonna pass out. I will wake up around 7am. I will be a tired bitch all day long. I might try a nap but it rarely works. I hate this. There seems to be no cure for me. Don't waste ur time suggesting ambien or any of that other shit. Tried it all.

Have you maybe tried talking to a therapists about this? Maybe you have racing thoughts?

Yea. A bunch of stuff. They started doing sleep studies on me when I was 7 years old. Something about an interupted REM disorder. When I do go to sleep, I wake up in about 3 hours or less. Every now and then i get lucky and get 3 hours of sleep twice a day....but that only happens about once a week. I also get Hypnopompic sleep paralysis from sleep deprivation. It sux. Now, docs just kinda give me a billion scripts and tell me to mix them up so I don't build up a tolerance.

damn grlfriend,

benzo's have "rebound" effect. tolerance develops and you are up shit creek. ( especially when mixing with alcohol )

detoxing off benzo's is 100 times worse than heroin!!! i am not joking.

your circadian rhythm is screwed up. have you consulted a sleep clinic?

have you tried rozerem ( a non addictive sleep med that works on melatonin )

another good one is low dose seroquel. ( relatively safe in lo dose & non addictive )

benzo's only work for acute ( short term ) insomnia.
lunesta and ambien work on benzo receptors and are equally as addictive and dangerous. don't believe the marketing hype

I stay up untill I pass out. took 20mg of melatonin at 11 here it is 2 hours later nothing.
I am perscribed trazadone but that shit stopped working months ago.Xanax works well but they only give me .05mg tabs and with no insurance right not the shit cost pretty high.tried valum so so
Lunesta will prob be the next thing,
Jesus i guess i have ran through a few scripts as well.
Fuck the key is to get away from the damn computer the bright light makes your brain think its day time or someshit the doc told me like that

Ur right about the benzo's. They don't even work on me.... but sleep specialists have been giving them to me since I was about 15. I have been on Seroquel. It worked for about 2 weeks. That's all. It stopped working.
Ambien doesn't touch me. I can take double ambien='s nothing.
Have not tried rozeram but either way, I'm screwed. Even if I try it and it works, it will prolly stop working like everything else. I have not had a sleep study for about five years. Maybe I should go back in for another. I have already had several but maybe they have discovered something new over the last couple years.

valerian root, chamomile, passion flower, lavender, peppermint, ginger, hops.

Are you one of those "worrier" types? Lay down to go to sleep and your brain starts racing thinking about everything in your life? You go over everything you need to do, want to do, didn't do, should've done, etc.?

Not usually. After i have been in bed for over an hour, i DO get pissed because i can't sleep. that prolly doesn't help.

worth a shot. losing all of this sleep must be terrible.

i have always had a little insomnia but nothing like
what you describe.

meds might not be the answer. may be something deeper.

i believe most physical problems are a manifestation of
something psychological. meds treat the "symptoms" but
they can't fix the problem.

this problem started around 15 ? interesting.
have you ever been involved in intensive psychotherapy?
i mean, where you get gut level honest.

you are a beautiful soul but you are troubled......incomplete.
you always feel that something is missing.
( i read between the lines of your post )

I'd stay away from seroquel unless you want to feel spun for a day afterwards. I remember you saying something about you and parsomnias... have you ever tried light therapy if you think your circadian rhythm is jacked?

Ambien and Lunesta both work a lot different than benzos, but if neither work that's really neither here or there for you.

the hours you put in on the meat wagon probably effed your melatonin production up good... some people have a really hard time getting that back to normal, if they ever do

I don't know what u mean by "intensive" psychotherapy, but I have had about a gazillibillion psychiatrist and psychologists. The sleep studies just concluded a REM disruption. Either way, I'm sick of being tired. It really makes a huge impact on life. About the rest---- it's almost spooky how much u can tell about a person with so little information. U have already done it to me a few times just this week. Ur amazing.

I had problems BEFORE the meat wagon. I liked the meat wagon because it gave me something to do while everyone else slept.

not really amazing lol.

it's an overdeveloped survival instinct. tele evangelist, so called psychics & career con artist posses this ability. it is the ability to "cold read" folks.
it comes naturally to me but i am sure it is very complex.

when i was a bad guy, i used it to stay alive and out of prison. now i am a good guy and i sincerely try to help people with this unusual talent.

i have recently discovered that it works on the internet. it is much easier face to face. ( i do exploit it in business but try to make sure everyones needs are met )

So what ur saying is u would be a great con artist or serial killer, lol. I'm glad u decided to be a good guy. I have skills of my own and try to use them for good. But I'm not to ur level. I can just see through bullshit.

lololol that is an asset, seeing through the bullshit.

problem with you is, you see through the b.s. in men but you disregard it.

you have always been attracted to bullshit artist lol.

as far as me being a serial killer \ con artist.......yes.
in a former life i was an enforcer- drug runner for a coke cartel. (scum bag)
no shit :worried:

i am no longer that guy, but i am still, shall we say, " not right" lol

In the words of cypress........"it's time get HIIIIGGGGHHHHHH, soooooo HIGGGGHHHHHHHH"

hit the weed babe. If you don't want to smoke it, eat it. Never slept better and more worry free in my life than when I was in Cali and had regular access to good Cali shit. Eating it actually gives you a body high that is better for relaxing and going to sleep.

Yea. Never been much of a weed smoker. It's ok but always like other drugs much better. As far as weed, when I have had some, my cop hubby usually tries to dump it. Something about it being illegal? What a jerk.

There is a new drug from a company called Arena that is going to fix you up. They are in phase II of their test studies. Maybe you can ask to be part of the study group.

Thanx. I will check it out. I will give u k every day if it works. :)

Damn girl that must really suck. I can't say that I have that problem at all. I LOVE to sleep. I can sleep 7 hours and still be tired. Oddly though I lack energy pretty often even though I get good sleep which really sucks.

How the hell do you move effectively? If I were only getting 3 hours of sleep I would be dead. My body requires 8 hours and any less I am wiped for the whole day with no train of thoughts...

i know what you need. you need to hook something up to your bed that makes it rock like your in the back of the ambulance and it will put you right out. maybe add some sirens or something.

lol. u know 2much
u must remember the conversation about the hum of the diesel engine and vibration put me to sleep. The only place i could sleep great was in the back on the bench. u remember. :verygood:

how were you able to manage without all the drugs during pregnancy and breast feeding?

I really didn't manage. I could only have ambien and Benadryl. It was a very bad time for me.....and everyone around me. I lost my mind. Sometimes, I could sleep better than usual. The doc said it was the pregnancy hormones.

In addition to trying any (or a combination) of the above, try taking magnesium about 20 minutes before bed as well.

Yeah, happens to me all the time. Got so angry once I put a hole in the wall. Made me feel a little better, until the time came to fix it, then I was just angry again.

I fell asleep around midnight, woke up at 3am then usually get about an hour at a time until I have to get up. This goes on for a few weeks then I pass out for half a day or so. I understand, though mine is not nearly as bad as yours. Lunesta worked for a few days then nothing. I may just have to try melatonin. I am not big on taking pills.

In all seriousness, if you keep it up, you may wake up one morning dead.

I did EXACTLY the same thing during grad school -- first for fun, then out of necessity. Benzo withdrawl is brutal. Given that your insomnia sounds every bit as bad as mine is, Rozerem and Lunesta probably will do next to nothing.

My migraine med is what got me off of the benzos. It was initially developed as an antidepressant. As it so happens, it is a lousy anti-depressant, but it kills migraine pain, prevents them from returning, and gives you one helluva good nights sleep without interrupting your ability to dream (unlike benzos). So, they market it for migraine prophylaxis now. It's called Elavil. Since it's not migraine specific, you can take it. Hence, there's other stuff out there that could help you.

I understand how benzos can be bad but my doc gives them to me like candy... but he's also tried just about everything else. Have not tried Rozerem but it will prolly work a week and stop working just like everything else. I don't take the benzos every night. Sometimes, I just stay up. When I get really tired or have something important to do the next day, I take the benzos.... but it has stopped working. I have been on meds for sleeping since I was a child. Started with Diphenhydramine. Then, trazadone. After that, the list got bigger and bigger. I have been on about everything. Have not tried Elavil but I know about it. It;s weaker than some of the mind numbing things I have been scripted just for sleep. Sometimes, I think my doc has given up,2.

Ativan, wine, valium ? What a mix. I had insomnia problems about 6 years ago. The first few weeks I was using ghb, then realized it wasnt a great idea to do that on a daily basis (its never too late lol) and switched to valerian roots. You should give it atry (valerian).

Hmmm. Yea. My docs have up on valerian and others like it by the time I was in my early teens. My sleep studies all indicated a need for medication. I have a REM disorder. Problem is, after several years of meds, they all stop working. I didn't start of on this much.

I dont know about the US but maybe pharmaceutical GHB is available through your doc or after consulting a specialist. It by-passes the different sleep stages to throw you into the right one.

Whoa! It makes sense if u think outside the box. But I just can't see me asking my doc for a script for GHB. That would actually be kinda funny!
