Taking a break while "On"

Every month or 2 I take a fews days off from the gym to rest and keep my body from overtraining.
My question is, with cycles being 10 - 12 weeks long, can you train throughout the cycle without taking a break? I know AS improves recovery time so maybe you can do this?
Also, do any of you take a break during the cycle, and if so, how many times and how long do u do it for?

Thanks

Mostly you need a break when you are off, but when you are in a cycle, i dont think you need a break cause like you said it improves recovery, and also u have to keep training hard. For me while on, i usually change my workout routine, like every 4 weeks or so.

I try not to take breaks while on but since I'm gonna be on most of next year it's unavoidable.

Thanks guys , I already workout 5 days a week. so when i do my first cycle i might take a few days off in a row, but since its my first i want to gain as much as i can.thanks again

I try to do something everyday, if I need a break from the weights I'll do cardio, play some basketball, etc. Even if I have no time at all one day I'll at least squeeze in some push-ups/tricep presses/situps in my apartment. For me though, its more a matter of keeping my routine, I don't think a day off every once in a while will slow gains at all, especially if it means you are back in the gym the next day working that much harder.

Definitely take a break if you feel you need one, your gut instinct is usually right.

But don't just walk away from the gym totally. Do some unconventional exercises that you're not used to, but which aren't too taxing. If you haven't before, look into functional training. Do some work on you core musculature which, if you haven't done any functional training, probably need a good deal of work.

Aside from that, maybe try some plyometrics, speed and agility drills, or play some basketball or something else you enjoy. There are hundreds of things you can do with this free time that will be fun and will help make your regular workouts safe and effective, and work synergistically with those regular workouts to make you a more well-rounded athlete.

bro you're starting to sound like some kind of strength and conditoning coach... :)

i definitely agree with Bulldog_10, you're better off doing at least something. i also like sprinting up hills, but have also started sled pulling too which i like. any more than 2 days off in a row and i'm asking for detraining and start feeling like i'm coming back or that i've lost something.

"imo, everyone needs a break on or off.. just always be sure to eat clean especially when not training..."

This is problem I have. I take breaks from training sometime and forget to lower my calorie intake. As a result this has caused me to gain some fat.

if your body is telling you that you need a rest take one.. its better to take a few days off from the gym then get hurt and ruin a cycle

if you need a mental break look into doing other activities that will give you a good workout..

like Judo :) j/k

good luck

Take your "breaks" when OFF while youre on you should be utilizing every minute of rest, nutrition, and training as possible.
