JibbyJabba, an Echo and a holter are a good start to diagnose your problem, a holter will document those episodes telling what kind of tachi you are experiencing.

Snider, you describe a supraventricular tachycardia, and those can be very unconfortable indeed. Talk to your doctors about some vagal maneuvers that in an emergency can help slowering you heart beats before you get medical assistance.

Thanks for all the responses...

I know how to vagal myself... is this something I might consider if it should get bad before I make it to the doc?

Great post Geoffgarst:) You certainly know what your talking about. A while back I had an injection fraction of less than 15%, that made it some what diffacult to workout with any intensity.:)

Anyone ever wake up with their heart racing?

Now, when it's from a dream where I am angry or scared, that's one thing.

However, it happens every now and again when I am not dreaming...

It ALWAYS (but not only) happens when I have been drinking alcohol in the evening preceeding bedtime... no matter how little or how much. And it's wierd because the severity of it does not coincide with how much I drink. For instance, I can drink a whole lot and I'll wake up in the middle of the night with my heart beating only a little too fast for my liking. However, last night I had only a couple drinks and I woke up during the night and it was freaking pounding... it always subsides after about 30 seconds.

My BP is fine today, as it always is... I am in excellent shape with very low BF... not currently on cycle (about to be).

I do havea slight heart murmur... when the cardiologist examined it last year he said it was no big deal.

Anyone have anything like this happen?

Thanks!

JJ

Enteric coated aspirin...325mg/day.

That should alleviate the tachycardia.

It could also be psychological(in your head)

I use Nattokinase instead of Aspirin and its working wonders.

My heart elasticity/ability to pump out blood has increased markedly.

An ejection fraction of 15%! Wow, you are luck you are here. That is some major CHF (congestive heart failure). Ejection Fractions should be at least 55% for normal (normal range generally around 55-75). 45% or below is CHF. This basically means your heart is not pumping very well and the blood is slow moving which causes fluid retention in the extremities, lungs, and around the heart. I am sure glad you are here with us today!

Thanks geoffgarst:
I had a severe viral infection in my heart and lungs which resulted in complete respiratory failure, kidney failure and cardiac arrest. I was on life support for three and a half days, when I began to snap out of it. My heart had inflamed to more than twice the size of a normal heart.

I was told that I would likely need a transplant within 6 months, that was three and a half years ago. My cardiologist treated me with coreg and atacand, which I still take. My injection fraction is still in only the mid thirties, but I feel great. My heart is in the normal range and the valves are no longer leaking. I had a bad irregular heart beat, that has also cleared up.

I have no restrictions on exercise either, and I have competed in three bodybuiling shows in the last 18 months. My doctor says that my heart has underwent a great healing process, although it will never be 100%
