Subaru has to be the longest lasting vehicle on the road.

230k is a record for these, particularly with all original components and all the towing we've done with her. We've just replaced the timing belt for the third time and she needs new bearings again. Runs like a top though. Standard maintenance stuff, really. Parts wear out after a decade, what can you do?

Her paint ain't horrible but we've been promising her a new paint job for a while. From a distance she's all one color, doesn't have that horrible two toned hood I've seen some of them get, just has circular quarter sized spots where the paint has faded to the primer. She's been clipped a few times, nothing catastrophic.

All in all, we really love that van.

uh oh, better get maaco!

Eh, I've got not one but two body shops within walking distance of my house. I'd rather ask our mechanic which one he'd recommend. Give the business to the local guys, y'know?

Most reliable modern vehicles (most now defunct):

- Toyota trucks with 22R engines
- RWD Crown Vics/Grand Marquis - regular exceed 250k taxi/police service
- 4.0l Jeep Cheerokee
- Most Mercedes Diesels

Subaru's are indestructible. Run forever, and if someone gets into a crash with you - pray for them.

ONly problem is -- ride sucks ass (esp old models) and they're butt fucking ugly. Which is why toyota/hondas still rule over them. Subaru's designers are still stuck in the 1940's in terms of design.
