Anyone else find it hard to stay out of the gym on a scheduled off day? What do you do? Habits? Cardio? Eat differently?

get some rest, eat and sleep so that the body can recover. i try to eat the same amount of food, but sometimes i eat a little less.

If I can't think of anything else to do, I'll head down to the gym and do some 'neglected part training'. Do 4-5 sets of forearms, 4-5 sets of calves, 4-5 sets of abs, and maybe 15 minutes of moderate pace cardio(gotta keep the ticker in shape)...

5'8" 215, 11%bf chest 47" waist 31", arms 16.5" cold not flexed, shoulders 23" across, lats 21" across, thighs 25"

i did this measurements about a week ago.

PR Lifts:
Flat Bench 350
Incline Bench 315
Squat 425
Dead 500
Good Morning 315

on off days i eat, sleep, and do it (cardio :) )

i do have school though, so hmwk keeps me busy along with ps2 and dvd box sets

Good stuff.....surely someone hates taking the day off..........I feel like shit couple with eating so much and often, just can't wait to get to the next day..........lol....disease!

i feel you on not being able to sit still on "off" days. sometimes i'll just go in and walk on the treadmill for maybe 25-30 min. maybe some abs, just something to at least make it feel as though i've done something physical. makes eating less of a chore.

i dont mind. sometimes i feel i should be doing something...then i do a bodypart check. either sore or stiff or tired, i generally know its time to lay off for a day.

I absolutely hate my days off. I can deal with Wed off (M, Tue, Th, Fr on), but taking the whole weekend off kills me. If I was cutting I would dedicate at least one of those days to some hardcore/fun cardio (is there such a thing?). For now, I have made Saturday my grip/forearm day. It is fun as hell and doesn't really get in the way of recovery.

I have my split set up so I only take a day off at a time. M/W/F/Sa training. I also run sprints on other days or try to do something else active. Can't stand to sit still.

I hear you bro

I've also developed a physical and psychological addiction to lifting (and, though less, cardio)
;)

What is your schedules (days on/off) JKurz ?

What does your routine look like for grip?

My schedule is 2 on 1 off 3 on.......so, my off days vary. HATE it when it's M-F cause I'm sitting in my office all day and need a release.....don't mind it as much on the weekend cause I fill the void with other shiznit......

i hit all my lifts and body parts on my shceduled days so i dont go crazy on my off day which is tomorrow..think im gonna play some golf

Sleep, possibly hit the buffet, sometimes staying in excess of 3 hours. Everything is focused towards eating on these days. I can deal with 2 days off each week, more and it messes with me. Im always so sore anyway when I take the days off. Feels good to be feeding the muscle and getting hydrated for thursdays chest workout. Ill often drink 64oz of gatorade for 3 days (along with 64oz of milk, which is everyday) before my chest workout. On the days I lift, which is around 5 days, alot of my time is in the gym and I have to make up for the lack of eating afterwards. I usually train on an empty stomache.
