Squats and deads

That's just insane! What weight do you use and how does that compare to your max?

Well, I never come close to failure, and have done virtually no leg or lower back work in 7 years (even that was short lived), so Im starting with a little over 25kgs and on my 3rd session finding it very easy to hit 254 reps last night with 35 seconds or less between sets and almost a minute left at the end I didnt use.

At this rate I should easily achive my target. I have no idea what my 1 rep max's are for these, and since Im really training for stamina and practical/usable strength I dont think it's something I want to measure my progress by. Maybe/maybe I wont give it a go for fun sometime.

25kg....total? or per side?

I've never worked these muscles (havn't done any cardio either for a very long time), so its total atm, but once I get an hour without putting it down, I'll just keep ramping the weight up. The only two reasons Im training myself in this way is for practical fitness and strength for the voluntry work I do.

you want to go one hour straight doing deads. lol

how is your lower back doing at the moment? high rep squats and deads and you have not done a lot of leg or lower back work in years!

whats the work that your doing that needs you to have this sort of fitness/strength?

seems too repetitive and strict for any functional work. it gives a false sense of strength, and is a short path to repetitive microtrauma that can build up really quickly to an injury. if there is any degree of twisting in your work, you put yourself at risk. my recommendation would be to add in a single arm deadlift to challenge your bodies stabilizers. just a suggestion.

Part of it involves removals type work, so I have to lift and move whatever needs lifting and moving, and that could be almost anything usually only for around 20 mins (but that's because I've been tired after 20, and want to do more).
