since that speed benching has worked, id thouhgt id try speed deads.. i do heavy deadlifts on friday and squat on tuesday.. so i was thinking can i put speed deads after squats on tuesday...

does anyone think this is a good idea?? also, how do you do speed deadlifts? is it still 10 sets of 3 reps in 3 seconds with 45 second rest breaks??

thanx for the help

some people do triples but most people i know of do singles/doubles

i'd put it on your lower body day, yes

Yes. :)

We work up to 6 singles at 60%...I just pull them one after the other, and rock back on to my heels to reset between each pull.

Well...my 1RM best to date is 702...and I pull mostly either 230, 280, or 330-370...depending on how I feel and what else I have planned for the week.

If I use 230 or 280 then I will do 6-10 sets of 1 with 20 seconds rest between sets.

If I use 330 to 370...I will normally do 6 sets of 1 with 30-60 seconds rest between sets.

They shouldn't be hard...

today i used 185-205 for 10x1 and my partner used 275-315 we did 20-40 second breaks.. if felt good. on my last set i tried 275 i exploded as fast as i could but i was burnt out:(

next week ill use 8x2.. and see how that goes

I max out at about 285 x 6. It takes me about 18-20 seconds to execute those pulls, in sumo. ROM plays a part in the speed, obviously.

285 on speed deads? i was trying to keep each rep about at about a second.. i think i did what should i do next week?

no, just one second up... maybe 3 seconds down..

i hit 405 so im using 205.. is that enough? also, will doin this get me passed 405??

check out my post called "I cant believe it" it should be toward the bottom or the next page..

Oak, I RELY on speed to get the bar moving off the floor. I pull in a grip-n-rip fashion in competition, and I do that specifically because I need the speed. I can't tell you if these will get you past 405, but they work for me, and I would expect them to work for you too.

Alright lets say my 1rp was 350, my working sets would be 190lbs, and it should take 1 second for 1 complete rep... and i should do 1 rep per set(or 2), and do about 8-10 sets, with 20-40 seconds rest? :) does that sound about right if i were to do these? Also is that the same way it would work with squats/benching?

Man, that sounds complicated. I walk up to the bar, lift it and put it down 6 times as fast as I can, and move on. I do that from 135 pounds up to 285 in about 50 pound jumps (quarters and plates).

I wait till Project and Hannibal are done then I go again. Man, I'm starting to think that you guys spend alot more time on the details than I do.

The sets vary 135-285 in 50 pound jumps, so that would mean about 4, then I might do that 285 a couple times...so 5 or 6. I don't know. If I start losing speed and form, what's the point?

These are always a second move, so I'm prefatigued from speed squats to begin with. Also, sometimes we do them with bands or chains pulling the bar back down, or reverse band speed pulls, etc...so those might only be at 40%.
