some solid violence in Toronto this weekend

Sounds like some morons wanted to try and rid Canada of some Muslims - only they were too stupid to get it right.

Yes indeed. The most ethnically diverse city in the world and yet it has a tenth of the crime boasted by most major US cities with comparable populations. Must be all those coloured people.

Where did you get this fact?

Book? WTF? :)

Ok - so I got the ethnic part - but as I skimmed through those articles, I saw nothing on the crime. Plus those are tourism and foreign investment pages, they are doing a sales job. It's not that I don't believe crime is better there, I just like to know where the facts come from. Often people just make up numbers and it sounds believable.

Oh, ok. Thought you were referring to the diversity. The links are also referencing United Nations studies and statistics. A little more than a sales job.

The crime as a whole is harder to look up. Or I'm just lazy. An easy barometer however is comparing the number of murders. Compare the average number of murders in Toronto over the past decade (around 65) vs. that of almost any major American city.

Or an even easier way would be to compare murder rate per 100000 people. US average is 8.8 while in Canada it's 2.3. Toronto is around 2.5.

we had 84 murders last year, downtown TO is as safe as it gets bar the odd stabbing or shooting.

The OPP have no problem tazering speeding motorists but when it comes to 'land claims' provincial policy is for them to stand at at least 50 feet, look the other way and pretend it's not happening.

They could fix two problems with one stone by telling The Band theres some prime land in Finch and Jane that they can have if they want to go claim it
