Interesting posts. I'm not quite sure how to discuss them further as both are trying to prove a point without facts. Why are blacks more in sports? I have no idea. They don't dominate hockey, tennis, or curlling. Why aren't more chinese people in sports? Maybe cause they don't have the build? Maybe because they realize the probability of making it and decide on something else? Maybe because they're fed noodles and sushi? Who knows?
As for Jew controling the media, ummm....yeah. Couldn't it be concidence that the leader of the major networks are Jews? Or are they secretly plotting to take over?

blacks arent into hockey because they just dont play the sport, (is it a money factor? is it because a lot of blacks dont live in areas where hockey is played? i dont know the answer to why in general they dont play the sport but for some reason they dont) although there are a few black hockey players like jerome iginla who is one of the top 5 players in the nhl, and grant fuhr was a great goalieEnderJE said:

CBS was under the domination of William S. Paley for more than half a century. The son of immigrant Jews from Russia, Paley left the family cigar business in 1928, when he was 27, to buy United Independent Broadcasters for $500,000. He renamed it Columbia Broadcasting System and made himself president. He became chairman of the board in 1946 and held that post until his partial retirement in 1983.
When independent broadcaster Ted Turner, a Gentile, made a bid to buy CBS in 1985, there was panic in media boardrooms across the nation. Turner had made a fortune in advertising and then had built a successful cable-TV news network, CNN. Although Turner employed a number of Jews in key executive positions in CNN and had never taken public positions contrary to Jewish interests, he is a man with a large ego and a strong personality and was regarded by Paley and the other Jews at CBS as uncontrollable: a loose cannon who might at some time in the future turn against them. Furthermore, Jewish newsman Daniel Schorr, who had worked for Turner, publicly charged that his former boss held a personal dislike for Jews.
To block Turner's bid CBS executives invited billionaire Jewish theater, hotel, insurance, and cigarette magnate Laurence Tisch to launch a "friendly" takeover of the company, and since 1986 Tisch has been the chairman and CEO of CBS, removing any threat of non-Jewish influence there.
NBC was formerly a subsidiary of Radio Corporation of America (RCA), which was controlled for 40 years, beginning in 1930, by David Sarnoff, another Jewish immigrant from Russia. When Sarnoff died in 1970 his son Robert took over. In 1986 General Electric Co. merged with RCA, and now NBC is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric.
There has been no move by top G-E management to change the Jewish "profile" of NBC or to replace key Jewish personnel. To the contrary, new Jewish executives have been added: examples are Steve Friedman, hired in May 1990 as executive producer of NBC Nightly News and succeeded in January 1993 by Jeff Zuker.

All of these have jewish traditions and jewish families on EVERY show, etc. Then, when you get old enough to care about/watch news, all of the NEWS stations are ALSO owned by jews - many stories of Jewish sympathy are sent through TV broadcasting. example: "2 Jewish men die over a controversy in Jerusalem - they leave behind families, bright futures", etc. (while not caring to tell about the maybe 12 or so Palestinians that died in the same conflict...).

You are right, on a MICRO level it doesn't make a difference. Unfortunately, so many of us (people) are not on this level. Why do you not have to know the person for racism to work? Why can't the MICRO way of thinking be applied to all? Am I naive for thinking this?

2) Alter the first premist of the argument to something along the lines of
*blacks are dominant in some sports over whites*
*blacks are dominant in many sports over whites*
*blacks are largely dominant in sports over whites*
and try to infer something that doesn't matter, since it's being assumed that the first premise is correct.

in regards to the original post, i think that while there is some merit to the idea that some additional natural selection was applied to slaves going to america, in the form of hard physical labour, poor conditions, and the bias of the slavetrader/owners, i think that the theory falls on its arse because it doesnt take into account various cultural forces that manifest in the overall caractreistics of any race/social group
now first and foremost, i would question the idea that blacks dominate in sport. sure, there are some high profile black sprinters, basketball players etc etc etc, but i would like to see some statistics before asserting that they 'dominate' in sport. i think it is fair to say that many successful black athletes are very marketable, and perhaps over-represent their demographic, or, going back to the cultural aspects touched on earlier, that american culture, at present, currently values sports that black athletes excel in very highly, thereby furthering the over-representation of black athletecism.
you could focus on other angles as well - socioeconomics being important. to generalise (just to make a point, everyone get a grain of salt out please), wealthier parents generally push their children into study more than athletics, effectively hamstringing their children from an athletic viewpoint by diverting their time/interest. we could (if we wanted to) assert that black people a generation ago (whose children are only now coming to athletic fruition) were more likely to fall within a poorer socioeconomic class and thereby have this athletic advantage. then, coupled with americas taste in the sports in which these athletes are likely to excel, we have a situation in which our present "black sports domination" stereotype can come to light.
something that noone has yet said is that, at the end of the day, slavery has existed for millenia. take a look at the turks, who for a period easily equivalent to that spanning black american slavery, would take the strongest male children from a number of races (greeks/macedons/romanians/some germaic races) to form the core of their fighting force (known as the janissaries). surely the natural selection imposed on this group of people, in the form of byzantine warfare and hand to hand combat, would have exerted teh same (or greater) selective pressure as the (mere) field work done by black slaves - and, despite this period of slavery ending only 200 or so years ago, we have not seen a turkish parallel to the current "black sports domination" spoken about in this thread (even though other factors may come in, such as inability or lack of opportunity for these warrior slaves to breed, or that the best of them were killed before they could, or that they did so, but were assimilated and absorbed by the current living turkish population)...or the fact that there was no opportunity for turks (post and present) to show their true mettle, given the lack of an equivalent to american cable tv.

after reading all these enlightening posts ive come to the conclusion that all of you are correct
the fact that the best sprinters in the world are black is because of their socioeconomic upbringing, whites were told at an early age to study and go to school and not to partake in silly sports such as sprinting
this also holds true in basketball where 90% of the nba is black, in reality its not that the blacks are better athletes and better bball players, its that the american culture wants to see black athletes compete in these sports not whites, the owners dont care if the best athletes (the whites) are not on the floor, they are there to appease the tastes of their fans who want to see blacks play hoops
football is another example where blacks make up at least 90% of the skilled positions such as rb and wr, but once again whites were told early on not to play with those black players or they may get hurt, instead study hard and become a doctor so that you can be rich and marry a nice white woman
when it comes to hockey there was a secret agreement between the black panthers and the kkk to let the whites play hockey since blacks dont like the cold, the fact that whites dominate hockey because blacks just dont play the sport has no bearing on this argument
in conclusion it has been decided beyond a shadow of a doubt that blacks arent better athletes when it comes to the best of the best, the statistics that show that the overwhelming majority of athletes in skilled sports are black is really just a smoke cloud, but instead blacks have been given a way out of the getto as compensation by the white man for having slaves a few hundred years ago

Yes, there are physical differences between races (I said this already), but its foolish to link that to slavery (Antrax said this a few posts back). That said, sports is a business. If you want to win, you are going to chose people that are physically stronger.
Its no different than the Chinese or white people dominating sports like swimming. Black people are not built to excel in that sport. I can get down to 12%bf and get small, but I won't excel at it. My hips will cause a splash far greater than someone that is Chinese.
