brotha, i know you is smart :)

you probably masturbate to differential equations but there's so

many here..............

btw- i've sent you k messages praising your insight and knowledge

thanks!

i would include smuffy on the list.
but there are others too. fer sure.

Depend on what type of smart you mean? There are different types of smart.

Besides those that you have already mentioned:

Samoth, AAP, Nelson Montana, Omega (he just hides it a lot), Heatherrae, and as of late, Razorguns has been impressing me

:)

jesus christ........this thread lost all credibility. 3 names on there that should never be near the word "smart"

hahaha..i was gonna make this thread myself.

i would say (based on both street and books. the true definition of smart )

KB (RIP)
nimbus
layinback
MM
GD
myself
subz (for his age)
Nef
blueta
jnevs
jackangel
velv

I think there's a few peeps on here who are very book smart but not street smart enough.

also, even though gambino is an EF legend, and i like him...no. how else can you base such a decision, except to consider how one handles himself in a discussion?

off the top of my head: samoth, jayc9, tatyana, java, cw, velvett. i'm not referring merely to intelligence, but also how they interact with others in a thread.

Thanks!!

I'm just a pretty good speller so it makes me seem more intelligent than I really am. It's kind of intimidating to others. That's why Biteme wanted to have an IQ test-taking contest with me.

lmao at bleak reality
lol
and thanks layinback, helluva compliement
and nimbus has got a good math brain, i wish i had that

i get carried away with the poly stuff and my points get muddled and cloudy with passion.
trying to stay away from those types of discussions, both online and in irl

thanks bro

not just kissing back cuz I've said it before, but I'd have you on my list for your keen insights into the human psyche' - a gift not many have

Ok is this the anti-smart representation?

holy_ghost, ok lad, just a cut and paste expert that recommended WAY too much gear to people.

I have no idea about the others.

BTW, could someone hook me up with some of the most dumb things that Younguns has said on this board?

Let me tell you why i think this thread is gonna suck (not the idea layingback.. but the feedback/posts)

First of all, i don't think alot of people understand the true definition of "smart". Intelligence is a variety of things and factors into everything from social skills/human interaction, problem solving, reason, learn from mistakes and the ability to process information.
Yeah you can be book smart...a math or science whiz, but does that make you a genius? No. The most intelligent and successful people i know or have ever met have capabilities beyond just one portion of knowledge or area.
Knowledge in itself is a portion of being intelligent, but is far from the end all. You know how many math geniuses or engineers can't talk to stranger without dying of anxiety?

Secondly, i already noticed a large age bias. most of the people mentioned are 35+...(no disrespect to them of course)
I think often people equate age with intelligence. It's just not true. Yes, one may become smarter from life experiences assuming they have been in many different situations and environments. Layinback is a perfect example of that...someone who's been through several lifetimes of experience yet has very little formal education. Obviously in his case (like myself) he makes it a habit to gain knowledge on his own which is why he's so well spoken and articulate. However, that is not everybody.

You're smart relative to where you are in life. that's why i mentioned some of the younger peeps on this forum. i bet you're gonna see alot of people not mentioned because of that.

just a rant, really

i have very little formal education but i've proly read a thousand books

or so in the last 25 yrs and i have always had smart challenging friends

who keep me on my toes.

my keen insight into the human psyche is a product of genetics and

survival. i love psychology and i'm a huge fan of winnicott and jung.

I think that's what he's adept to, but i wouldn't have mentioned him if he didn't have more than that. he's also extremely witty, can pretty much figure out anything, and has very good social perception.

I have to return the compliment LB. You possess the ability to lay down intelligence in type that I wish I had. You have the #1 spot for intelligence on EF until someone overthrows you, in which case, I shall bomb him/her until I run out of karmas.

Having said that, some other favs are:
Hammy (the greatest poster ever)
Mava
Subz
Mr. dB
Nimbus
Heather
AAP
Bluebird
Gambino
Smurfy
Lumberg
Digger
ATW

I dig almost everyone here, but these are just some of the posters that make me think on a regular basis.

No disrespect LB, but these threads and the 'who would I rape' and 'the who would I dine with', and the 'perfect EF composite woman' are a big clusterfuck of strokes. C&C has turned into high school, thank god me was smart enough ta gets out when I was 16.

excellent points!!!

intelligence is very subjective. a well rounded intellect is probably the

ticket. if you can perform higher math but can't change a flat tire.......

there're many modalities of *smart.* i would imagine that verbal

intelligence and the ability to articulate complex emotions and ideas

are indispensable on internet chat boards. this ability could also create

the illusion that someone is actually smarter than they really are lol.

of course this thread is very provocative and very few people consider

themselves dumb. it is meant to elicit this type of feedback CW.

for gear and workin out .. who is what most of this site is based on .. i would say
omega
wulfgar
nelson
would be top 3 .. lotta gears mods and mentors would be cloze behind .. but those are top dogs imo

as i read others list i'm like yes he's \ she's smart.

my list was by no means comprehensive either.

we all appreciate the smart folk in real life so i don't

see this as a juvenile attempt to jerk and to get jerked

off. i can do my own jerking off. after 30+ years i have

a PHD in jerking off

who's gonna guard chris paul?

they split the season series 2-2..........so it should be fairly evenly matched. Homecourt is actually gonna be HUGE in that series. Lakers got it by 1 fuckin game (the last game of the regular season that the hornets lost).

I just gotta make split second calculations for cardiac drugs and joules. But gosh, we don't even use a computer. It's more of a trade. Hell, most people don't even know the difference between an EMT and Paramedic. Besides EF, I only used a computer for those 6 years of college.
I wash myself with a rag on a stick.

good bro material

I have met some very intellectually brilliant people who didn't have enough sense not to come in out of a blizzard, seriously.

There is a HUGE difference between "book smart" and "life smart." That being said, the real question is, are we talking purely I.Q., E.Q., some combination of the two, plain old vast stores of general knowledge, or common sense?

Reading a large number of books, attaining hours and hours of college credits, that's cool, but IMO the most useful knowledge is having information you can actually pull up and use, have available at your mental fingertips, so to speak, as opposed to theory.

Untested intellectual information impresses me a lot less than real life, hands on know how.

that's just fuckin stupid and shows you have no clue about basketball.(i'll forgive you since your team is about as relevant as euro disney)

new orleans is one of the best defensive teams in the league. they split the regular season series 2-2...and one of the games NO lost was close.

lakers had a better record by 1 GAME...and thats because NO lost on the last day of the regular season and the lakers won. home court will play a huge factor.

no one on the lakers can even come close to guarding chris paul. chandler can shut down gasol.

yeah kobe will get his, but if they can take away gasol's production the face of that team completely changes.

NO is WAY better than utah, and look how utah almost brought them to a game 7

The x factor matchup will be david west vs lamar odom.

calling it now

If you can't apply 'book smart' it is completely useless as well.

I work with a seriously intelligent chap, it is almost frightening.

But I think he has Aspberger's syndrome, and he is completely socially inept.

That has held him back so much it is ridiculous.

why is it divisive a thread? so far all i see are peeps giving opinions

and dissecting the concept of intelligence. if people are insecure about

their intelligence and not being mentioned, that's no fault of mine.

we have no problem with threads that showcase physical attributes or

the lack of lol. the cerebral is a much more important albeit subjective

aspect of the human condition.

i'm not opposed to being popular but it is not necessary and i like to

broach pink elephants from time to time.

Ditto, same thing here. I worked for a man who was mathematically brilliant, who was categorically incapable of basic organization and life skills and his social skills were hopeless. The only way he could get a wife was to buy one from overseas. He paid his personal assistants an obscene amount of money because he KNEW he was a nightmare to work for but needed someone with a good head on their shoulders to manage almost his entire life.

Sweetie, let old Musclemom give you a little motherly advice, the most intelligent person is the one who doesn't go around telling everyone else in the room how much smarter he is than everyone else. Nor will he be the one using fifty cent words in an affected manner when a twenty-five cent word used properly would sound better.

Half of the equation of intelligence is knowing the difference between when you should speak and when you shouldn't.

Making a purely sweeping statement on the subject, scientists, neurologists, psychologists, sociologists, and behavioralists can't agree on how to measure intelligence. There are many different types of intelligence and there is just no simple way to benchmark or categorize it. That's why no one really knows which is smarter, dogs or cats, seriously. We can't figure out how to correctly measure human intelligence, how can we measure animal intelligence?

I've known very intelligent people who couldn't string half a dozen words together intelligibly in writing. I've also known total idiots who wrote beautifully. I've known brilliant artists who were mathematical retards and science and math geniuses who were incapable of balancing their checkbook.

The real question is, when you say smart, what kind of intelligence, exactly, are you wondering about?
