Sleep Number Beds

Im in the market for a bed. I'd like to go high quality and comfort instead of being cheap and getting whatever's on sale at the local mattress mart.

My gf swears by her Sleep Number bed. Anyone else here have one? Ive laid in her bed (cut it out LOL) and yes its amazingly comfy, especially since you adjust it to your liking with a remote control.

I want to pay cash for this purchase and i think its going to run me about 2grand or so for a King size. I believe they have 3 yrs 0% financing available too if i choose not to pay upfront. So that's cool.

Thoughts?

why would you get a sleep number bed and not just buy a bed with the hardness/softness you like?
I thought the purpose of them was so that your lesbian lover could have one number and you could have a different one.

Yeah they are good if you spend the money for the higher ones. Otherwise they fall apart quickly! But they do stand by their warrenty so if it does fail they will keep sending you new parts. Which is unique because most matress companies don't give a shit

well I think A)its hard to tell in a mattress store exactly which bed will suit your needs best for an 8 hr stretch of time.
b) this allows for adjustment from day to day if need be, i dont think our backs or our bodies want the exact same thing everyday for years on end. ideally, room for adjustment is better and 3) you have gigantic boobies

that's all true.
i would get a tempurpedic, but a sleep number does sound good.

Get the regular king unless you think you are gonna have big man in yo bed!

I've slept on a sleep number bed and a tempurpedic and would chose the tempurpedic hands down, even though the guy with the sleep number was better in the sack...LOLOLOLOL.

I've got a sleep number bed. I really like it. Got my king size on sell for a lil over 1500.

The tempurpedic beds seem to generate heat or something. I don't like that

yeah thats one thing that turns me off of the foam mattresses. the heat factor. 1500 is a nice deal. i assume that was for the king set w/box spring

well...They don't have "box springs", but yeah..it did come with what they consider the box spring.

Its got the pillow top, and then inside the bed it has some of that tempurpedic foamy stuff, but its under the pillow top so you don't get the heat

+1 on the temurpedic

the original too
not those phony gimmicks

2500 ish for a queen

I agree got one 3 montha ago and love it. The first week I was thinking I paid way to much for this bed, then I got used to it and now recommend them to everyone. Now, it is like I get excited to go lay down because it is so comfortable, but yes it will put off a certain amount of heat.

I have heard nothing but good about them..In fact next bed we get that is what I think will be best.

In our area it's a really popular thing to remodel and live in hundred year old Craftsman homes with super narrow staircases.

Many of our friends buy the Sleep Number bed because these kinds of beds are easy to move into a house like this. Or else they'd have to sleep in 2 queens or take out part of the wall and use a crane to get a kind sized bed up there. Lordy

that's one thing I really like about them. Super easy to move. Once the bed is deflated you can basically roll the thing up, and the "box spring" pops apart into lil pieces. You can literally move a king size bed by yourself.

are these things sturdy? i mean you make it sound all portable and junk. if its that easy to take apart and put back together, can it hold me and all my 5000 lbs of ass? i mean really.

ps. I think Im going to the bed store after work today

they are very sturdy...

The "box spring" is made from abs plastic, and it is all interlocking.

The actual matress is hollow. Once you get it all set up, and then start inflating it takes shape and looks like an actual matress.

If you want to save money you don't have to buy one of the sleep number bed frames. You can just use any old bed frame.

I thought you were low on funds? That's what the mariah carey thread says.

anywho...just a thought, because sleep number things their frames are worth a fortune I guess. (atleast they used to be)

yeah...I went to a local furniture store and got a regular ole' king size bed frame for $25 or $30.

They're sturdy...My son jumps on my bed all the time, and I have with him. No problems!

I just got a $50 gift certificate to a sleep number store the other day in the mail. :)

for a much lower price alternative: have you tried a memory foam topper for your existing mattress?

i put a 2 inch memory foam topper on my existing 10 year old sealy pillow top mattress 2 years ago; have no desire to change it out. several people who have slept over have commented on how comfortable my bed is.

wtf?

I tested a lot of different mattresses before I bought my new set (Stearns & Foster). It felt to me like the TempurPedic would only be good for a back sleeper...wasn't very comfortable testing it out on my side.

It's fine for all types of sleepers. Best thing I ever did for my back and I've got degenerative disc disease in my back.

Update: they are in my bedroom right now putting my new king size bed together. i am so excited. once it is all set up, i will take pics (yes, you care)

exactly. for months Ive been sleeping on the couch or someone else's bed that is not my own.baby steps.

also, chris needs to go to a sleep number store to find out his number so i can set the left side of the bed for him teehee :)

I'm not picky babe! Glad to hear you got it!
