When a member is banned, should other members be allowed to seek claim of that member's Karma?
Or should their Karma remain in their accounts?


I'm only asking because I have gotten hundreds of PMs from people over the years wanting to claim the Karma of banned members. By now MOST of the system's Karma is buried in inactive accounts.


What to do?
 
Lottery system. Members wishing to claim in buy a ticket and the K is awarded via a raffle basis.

Personally, no. But I tend to give all of mine away once or twice a year.

I think what he really means to say here is that every single active and banned/inactive member's karma should be taken and re-distributed evenly among all active members so that everyone has exactly equal karma. This also should include all karma that is tied up in karma bonds, as that would be the only "fair" way to do this.

We need a more Admin controlled, Socialistic Karmic System.

How long will the re-distribution process take?
 
Naw, I don't think Karma is even cool unless your gambling in the bookie, plus how the hell would you spread a banned/inactive members Karma amongst people, everyone would be getting jealous and crying... Maybe if in the profile, each member can write down a karma will or something just incase they get banned.
 
I say redistribute to those only that gave it to them and pool the remainder (such as in the case someone who gave them k is also banned) in a pot for the Scotsman lottery system. A little complicated but fair.

Reset the karma system to the way it was, perhaps making a few small alterations to prevent the rampant inflation?

We go case by case and let the members decide who the banned member's Karma should go to. Depends on why the member was banned or what their last wishes were...

Some may earn more than others.

how can you say that a completely fair Socialist system of re-distribution of wealth is wrong? You're a Capitalist PIG!!! You're all about the big corporations and not looking out for the little guy.

You don't care about the average lower and middle classes out there who will only always struggle in the current karma system. It's not fair for them. They'll NEVER get ahead. They don't have ANY chance of making it in the current system. The elite few that are karma rich will always hold them down and get richer while the karma poor get poorer.

This is unfair and WE NEED CHANGE!!

Instead of having a friends list, why not turn that into a will? If someone leaves or gets banned their karma gets distributed to those listed in their will (friends list).

Not everyone that goes bye bye is a "toolbag", some like jh1 ask to be banned/removed. I think you fear nobody listing you in their will :D

And what is the purpose of redistributing it evenly when we have thousands of members that signed up back in 2000-2003 that haven't posted in 5-8 years?

I think I just have agreed with every banning that has occured since I've been here. Those who are banned because they act like assholes, i.e. TR and KB shouldn't have any say in where their K goes.

Those who voluntarily leave would have given their k away before they left if they cared who received it.

I am not sure how I feel about cremation. With DNA you will one day be able to recreate humans, so burning up all of my DNA might not be the best idea. Cryo-Freeze could be an option for me in 50 years (if I live that long)

cryogenics destroys all the cells etc. Might as well just try to preserve the dna because there would be no use for all those soponified cells.

like go back to the old ways for plat members and higher. and maybe keep the k power how it is now(adjustable and not too high). or just have minting months like 2x per year. where you can mint k for a month. most people won't even remember its that month so I don't see it inflating too fast....
 
I used to red old members. I knocked Raina's in half before it became boring trying to find enough of her posts to red.

Guess I should really re-think my friends list.

How can you see whose friends list you're on? loolol
 
find a way to put it into the karma bookie section ..where it can be won via pickin winners in events etc .. is much more fair for the average user and would be more exciting .. would prob help boost the gambling in that section also
 
K has not value whatsoever..for me is just a way of swapping messages with good peeps via K venue..

If there was a k store where karma could have been used to buy stuff, i.e., tshirts,baseball caps,xxxl condoms and such...then we are talking ...till then, I dont really care about it..just some E fun...thats all...

Leave the dead alone burried with their treasure...they earned it...
 
I would think in a case where say. A member just gave a mill karma to a member and he gets banned the next day. It would be cool if that member can get back his investment.

A lot of times us members give our k to other members to hold for a lot of reasons. I know I am not the only one that has don this. So if you have a member holding your k for you and that member gets banned. It kind of sucks you can't get your k back.
 
I will hold onto a million of your k in case u get banned :)
