I'm fairly good friends with this girl and the other week she stayed over but didn't seem that interested in getting super intimate.

Knowing that she is really into me I was kind of picking on her about it and joking "what are you not attracted to me, etc."

Then the following day (or maybe day after) she sends me a text and says the reason why is that she is a CARRIER OF THE HERPES VIRUS. Hasn't slept with THAT many people but says it was from one drunk night several years ago and found out shortly after.

So this kind of REALLY bothers me... but if I told her that she'd probably cry. HOWEVER, it does, indeed, turn me off big time.

I pretend like it doesn't bother me but in my mind I'm like NO FUCKING WAY would I touch you and you gross me out. I could never say that though and she's still a good friend.

What would you do? Is this a big deal?
 
If she's just a friend why are you trying to schtoink her? If you're really her friend it won't matter to you because a friend is supportive. If you're just trying to schtoink her (which is fine) just move on. Unless you see this becoming serious it's probably not worth the risk and you don't seem willing to put up with the risk anyway.

Yes, I know someone who has it and no, I wouldn't.

Actually I started dating a chick and she broke the news to me the first night I tried to stay over. Pretty much sucked because I thought she was holding out b/c she was pure and straightlaced, nope had an STD. Her plan was to keep dating just no nookie when a sore was present. Needless to say it didn't pan out.

It's a big deal. There's a very small risk of transmitting it if you wear protection and she doesn't have an active outbreak, but why take the risk at all if she's just a friend? if it was someone you were dating and in love with, this would be a more difficult choice.

And you don't have to be all "you gross me out." Just don't have sex with her.

How small minded can you be. It's herpes for christ sake. She is aware she has it and had the guts to tell you. she could have just slept with you and you would have caught it.
Its not a death wish or anything. She's responsible and actually cares for you.
People with it are usually very cautious and dont take chances with others. they are usually clean responsible people who for a moment have done something and contracted it.
if you ever have had a cold sore you have it.
