Sense of Entitlement??

eddymerckx

Getting Faster
Platinum
I may just be getting old but what is this sense of entitlement that appears to pervade some of the newbs?

I mean all the mod, mentors, experienced members do not have to help anyone--they do so to make gear use as safe as possible or, as the case may be, give honest answers that gear use is not the right choice. I mean this is the only board on the interwebs where you get honest answers about gear--so man bros put hours and hours helping these peeps that show no respect whatsoever.

I had an intern last summer that had this same sense that they were owed things based on the simple fact that they existed. Arrogance in youth is expected--who wasn't? but the degree I have seen in the past few weeks is disconcerting.

Okay done venting.

Have noticed exactly the arrogance you speak of in some of the new threads over the past week. People come here having done no background research and demand answers for questions that have been answered ad nauseum, then when honest answers are given they threaten to run their cycle anyway, or act offended.

i never acted like that when i was a newb. i opened my ears and listened to experienced people.

i think i had a better understanding of steroids though, when i was in high school we were watching Rocky IV and the part where the russian boxer is getting pinned with steroids.. some kid who was a band geek and never played a sport ever said "no wonder he is so good at boxing he is taking steroids!" I corrected him and said even if someone was to take steroids they still have to workout hard and have boxing talent to be the best at it. you can't just take steroids and be a champion boxer.. and he gave me a look like i was crazy.

i think the newbs that don't want to listen just do not have an 'eye' for nutrition or steroids. otherwise they would be foaming at the mouth to get in the heads of vets of the board and not have this attitude that if its not the answer they were looking for its wrong.

when i was new i just listened and learned... i took some shit and i had some people tell me i couldn't meet the expectations i had... i just worked hard to prove everyone wrong and thats what i did... but i listened, i learned and i used my tools... i never argued or counter attacked anything that was taught to me... i just took it all in and utilized it to the fullest... it is very disheartening to see the unappreciation that has been going on lately... a lot of use spend a lot of our free time doing this to help as many as we can and then get attacked for giving solid and helpful advice... Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of guys that appreciate the help very much and we all recognize that but lately, as eddy said, there's a lot of bullshit that's been going on... anymore of it and my replies in that thread will be a simple two word reply of "fuck you" because personally, I don't need nor want to hear any crybaby shit or anyone snapping back to me when they are given advice... if you don't like, don't fucking ask... sometimes, the truth hurts but you become a stronger person when you listen and learn... You will NEVER always hear what you want to hear but you can always take something from any certain situation and not only learn from it but turn it into a positive... I hope more people realize this... There are too many "hurt feelings" out there over advice... Its like these guys are on a continual dose of high clomid or something, fuck... If advice is given, its given for a good reason...

Spot on mate. And I can personally say I appreciate EVERY ASPECT of advice I have gotten from you and Steve as well. Basically everyone actually.

and your the type of person i love to give advice to because you take it, whether its what you want to hear or not and you use it to your advantage... im always here to help you bro...

It's a shame some of the attitudes these newbs have. They don't understand how much they could learn if the were just polite. I've learned so much from this board and the mods have been nothing but nice and more then willing to help

just wanted to throw out a big thanks to all those who take time to help us noobs out. some of us really appreciate it :)

I'm new here but I have age most new people are young and generally lack any sense of quality in their person!

That's where those with experience and good rational need to persist with the inconsiderate as hard as it can be as we're in changing times and most people don't listen to anyone! You will find some people on here are like woman "when getting dressed they have already made up their mind and still they ask for an opinion but if you speak out you get belittled for it" 😉 as their own seeking self gratification!

I agree with everyone above--I mean I know nothing about SARMS/Peptides so I just read everything that is posted and I am slowly learning--I cannot even fathom posting "I am going to take SARMS/Peptides now tell me how and don't ask me any questions as I am doing it anyway"....it is just absurd. IMHO, most gear users are vacuums for information--we want to know more and more---not less!!

That is what this board mainly has--bros that just want to learn and help others in the process--but lately there are some that just do not realize the value of the information they can get here (where else can you get 20 honest answers from bros that have done the exact cycle or gear asked about--multiple times) but don't even have the simple courtesy to learn the meaning of some basic terms of gear use much less the nuts and bolts.

Lol, I dig the font. I been working in the education field for years, this generation is unequivocally nothing but a bunch of spoiled brats, who operate out of instant gratification, lack proper work ethic, and have zero respect for their elders. I blame their parents, the education system, and the media for enabling them to be disrespectful, slothful, parasitic slugs. Now, there is always a remnant who has the right stuff, however, they are hard to find... All we can do is try to salvage the wreckage, that is all.

My sister teaches 7th/8th grade at snotty school back east (the students have nicer cars than the teachers) and she says the same thing as you....not a good sign for the future!!

I'm 22 and have worked really hard to be where i am at in life in general as well in the gym. i gotta be honest with you i have a lot of friends who have that "sense of entitlement" like hard work doesn't pay off because they have been hand fed their whole lives and it honestly just makes me sad. i've seen it a lot on here also and it just makes people around my age look foolish. i have a lot of respect for all the mods and vets on here because i've been on other forums on line and EF takes the " stupid sauce head" aspect completely out of the situation EF's got some of the most well knowledged and honest people on it and im glad i found this place.

I'm one of the younger bros on the board and can honestly say to all you older guys dissing my generation and calling us all those terrible names and degrading our work ethic and whatnot

You're all totally fucking spot on...

I won't brag on myself if I can help it, but I would like to think I have my shit straight for being so young. The sad part is though, that even as recently as 10 to 15 years ago, someone my age would be expected to behave the way I do, and those few who didn't were the assholes.

Now, I'm the asshole, and everyone else my age just pisses on everyone and everything around them and think they are owed the world.

And Jesus Christ, how did everyone get so stupid!? Are we really living in an age where you can obtain a highschool diploma and barely be able to fkng read!?

I use a lot of time and effort helping bros on this site, giving advice I learned from either a shitload of research or a shitload of personal experience, and I was treated that way when I first came over to EF, so a quick shoutout to all the bros who have helped me. Mods/non mods/ and bros who are now mods that weren't when I came here have all given me top notch advice and I have learned so much in the short time I've been here, and I will be an EF lifer until I'm an old fkr in the boner pills forum wondering where I can find a solid hip cream source (no offence RADAR)

Lol but to answer the question of why is there a lot more shitheads lately, it's just the time of year. Every 19 year old with a gym membership is panicking cause they know its time to hit the beach and they look like shit, so they want answers and they want them now! Where can I get the magical-overnight-no workout pill that makes me look awesome!?

Ok, this is great and all but somebody just tell me what to take, what to eat,how to workout, what i'm supposed to do after i take a dump i mean, do i pull up my pants wash my hands and then wipe? I'm very confused, but look, you guys are lucky to have me on this forum and need to spoon feed me bc my mom's almost home and i'm not allowed to be on the computer if i haven't finished my chores..oh, btw i don't like some of the mods, i don't like the advertisements and even tho i'm a male i think i just started my period. please change this site immediately or i will no longer grace you with my presence.

I have received great advice from many mods on here and EF is my fav place to hang now when I have free time at home and a great place to learn basically anything !Mad respect to all mods on here , nothing but a wealth of information!

Good members as well as mods/mentors. I love it here, it's like a great big family

I think every older generation gripes about the younger generation.

this younger generation is different in that they are the facebook and iphone generation. when i was young i didn't have a cell phone much less this fancy shit they have. and also if i wanted to ask a girl out I went up to her.. now they use the internets and post shit on facebook when they like a girl or use online dating sites. its totally different. what we view as lazy, is really just the way technology has moved.

i remember getting into lifting at 15.. i went to the library and checked out as many weightlifting books as i could to learn.. now they have sites like this. so i disagree that they are dumber, with the information at their fingertips they are way way smarter IF they take the time to do their homework

I think they have the potential to be a lot more informed, but they are just too lazy to try to learn anything. If they want to know a quick fix, they google shit on their phones, and that's that

I'm worried as hell at the direction we're going. It things like "Everyone get's an A so we don't hurt people's feelings yaaaay!" that is going to be the end of us. We're taking away everyone's incentive to bust their ass.

I work in heavy fabrication and we get these new crops of engineers coming in that show up thinking they are the shit. So we put them in the field on a grinder for a few weeks, cleaning our shops for a few weeks, the weld school for a few weeks, etc. All of this under some grumpy ass superintendent that just grills their asses. They either get snapped into the realization of Oh shit I gotta bust my Ass or they quit. It works. We end up with a crop of hard working folks that have some humility. Although now the ones that quit are probably sitting at home playing xbox collecting an umployment check.... so damn sad.

^^^ sounds like the fancy college grads I deal with at my job.. they come in thinking cause they partied for 5 years that they somehow are superior. they last usually 1 or 2 days before they blow up and quit.

thats why i hire dudes straight out of high school who are HUNGRY and who grew up poor and are fed up with it. those are the people who are the most motivated. I never hire college grads cause they are exactly what this thread is all about, they feel they are entitled.

well I'm a college grad but far from fancy. although I do know what you mean steve and i started college 20 yrs ago and I think attidudes have gone to shit... if u step back and look at decade by decade its easily visible in our workforce. I feel u earn the respect of your people by showing that you are willing to get your hands dirty too even though you're in charge. sadly our new up and comers are more focused on shedding blame and throwin others under the bus than taking responsibility. for a company's upper management this works because they don't see the details just the amount of total mistakes and whose tyipically at fault. there's much more to it of course but I know a lot of our best and brightest new mgrs and they are nothing but a bunch of self entitled snakes that turn you in to get a political edge if you mistakenly cost the company as little as 20 bucks. it sucks major balls!

I see exactly what you guys are saying! I have this friend who always was given everything in high school. A nice car, nice clothes, and everytging he wanted. He was also given extra spending money which he would just spend on the ganja.... Yeah so we used to,workout together. He would always be trying to rush through the workouts while I was trying to perfect form. He was asking me about getting all the best supps that, made me big. I just kept telling him: Stop smoking, clean up ur shitty diet, and go hard in the gym. Bodybuilding is a lifestyle, not an activity. He never did and stopped going to the gym. Then a couple weeks before spring break he comes to me cause he wants "to look ripped on the beach" and asks me where he can get some steroids. I just shook my head. I said no and told him to get his ass in the gym and on my diet plan (i set up a whole workout and diet for him) he didnt do it. We are the same age and I had to work two jobs while is high school and I had sports and im in the military so I always had respinsibilities. He did nothing and got spoon fed while I had to buy everything. The only thibg my parents paid for was my food and a bed to sleep in. I think that,is what, made the difference.

I listen to all the vets on hear and love u guys (no homo) for helping me so much

This is in no way an attack at the OP or anyone in this thread, but i hate posts like this.

Do all you vets and mods think that in your youth you were non-arrogant, and totally respectful of those giving you advice, and your employers. . .

Come on, get in the real world guys. I'm young, i don't profess to be perfect, but don't tar the 'youth' with the same brush because of some of the idiots you meet on an anabolic steroids forum, or your snobby interns. . .

Eddymerc, great thread bro.

I never noticed that i fell into my own version of "goddamn fucking punk kids today" til about 2 years ago.
Thats when I guess I realized i was old enough to be far enough seperated from the next younger generation.
Kids are assholes. well...95% of them are. From grade school to high school and especially college age.
Its all aboout the quick fix, something for nothing.

Its the new generation. I hate to say it that way because it makes me sound old, but I see it everyhwere with younger people. Herfe in my business I get people applying for positions and they want o earn big, be important and dont know SHIT. To make it worse they are not even hard workers, they are lazy. At least give me a motherf%$#** who works his ass off and I will expect some overconfidence, but this is ridiculous.

The same things apply to lifting. Everyone wants to be huge without putting in the time. I think this why the dosages we read about have increased so much. People want to compensate with higher dosages vs harder work. Just look how many threads there have been from younger guys, or 160lbers.

I will never claim to be non-arrogant when I was younger, and I for one will never use the term's "these kids now" or any of that bull shit because inside i'll always feel like "one of those kids" or whatever you may say...

However, even in my stupid ways when I was younger, I LISTENED to all the older guys or people with experience... At times, inside, I would think maybe they were wrong or just fucking dumb but I always tried to take something from what they were saying and listen and learn... The experience that someone has cannot be taken for granted nor can the knowledge... It made me learn so much more and it also gains you repsect from your peers when you listen, don't mouth off and don't think you know everything... Even if within, there are things you may not agree with, you will find later in life that you were wrong a lot of the time but much better off for being respectful or listening...

Trust me, it took me getting in a lot of trouble to finally grow the fuck up and I am a much better man for it now... I always listen and respect and never think I know everything and because of that, I have learned at a more accelerated pace and have been able to gain a lot more respect...

Hell, I wish I had people like that to listen to as far as AAS, training ect...

We can all say kids are assholes but I think the general point of this was kids and AAS and a quick novelty fix without having to work for it.

totally agree bro...

there's just not enough research done and not enough listening to the experienced... fuck, i still learn something new everyday... you can't EVER learn enough...

Shit man if you think my generation has a sense of entitlement you're totally right it fucking pisses me off too. I look at even younger generations than me and it looks worse for them. Where do they get this, who knows, I think the media has a giant impact on this. They watch these reality shows on MTV and shit. And think they deserve everything, and can act the same way as these idiots on T.V. I mean if I look at my grandpas generation, they would work 17 hr days breaking stones, or plowing or farming a field just to take care of their family. They are Real men! Now you have people collecting money from the government because their too goddamn lazy to get off their ass to work a 8hr day job.

Media and shitty parenting.

Also this misconception that everyone should be treated equally. Now...i dont mean racially. Racism is for assholes.
I mean that everyone is so worried about what everyone will think or hurting someones feelings.
Oh no...we cant let stupid ass johnny get left behind so lets fuck up the whole class while we spoon feed this kid to catch up with everyone else.
Watch what you say, do, think, and how loud you fart..dont want to upset anyone.
Fuck that. Thats where this entitlement comes from. They act like little assholes as kids and instead of an ass whoopin they get ADD drugs and counseling. Most kids on ADD meds just need some fucking discipline. Ive experienced it first hand. Parents are horrible and have been for a while.

Im still young and a newb but totally agree with all you guys I look at kids in high school now and wow just wow and I cant even imagine what they would do to discipline us if we were like that, I blame the media and big pharma as mentiong by burn with ADD meds. I take everything from here and learn everyday, when steve suggest me something on cycle, i do it, dont even question him becuase he has experience and Id rather goes with his advice then trying out my own newb thoughts.

Every 'older generation' thinks the next/younger generation has a 'sense of entitlement', and always has to antiquity. Your parents/grandparents will have said you were arrogant assholes with silver spoons, just like you say the younger generation now are assholes who are arrogant and think you owe them the world. You just dont realise it, and then you grow up and think the next generation are assholes lol :D

Back in my day we didnt have phones, we walked to the end of the street to talk
back in my day we didnt have tv
back in my day we didnt have colour tv
back in my day we didnt have games consoles
back in my day we didnt have ipads
back in my day we didnt have flying cars
back in my day we didnt have spaceships

and so on and so forth. I dont dispute for a second that some guys are genuine jerks, who think they are owed a living, but it's just when you get older it starts to piss you off. .

And i have always taken the advice i have got from this site. I came here as a little tit end who had bought so dbols and wanted to 'get massive'. I took the advice, and didnt use them and learned to train properly. I still have them naposims in my drawer, unused. Kind of a symbol of my foolishness.

Now i can quite confidently say im a knoweledgable member here, with a wealth of knowledge, and ive helped countless bros, just like bros have helped me.

I think--not sure, but the younger generation may be taking it's cue from technology....that is, maybe half my clients expect an answer to a question, 24/7 b/c of smart phones etc. Thus the kids are used to the same thing--everything is "instant".

Last weekend a kid posted at 6am est then bumped the thread at like 730 b/c no one had answered...and they think they should also be able to buy instant muscles and just can't grasp thew concept that the world (or their own body) does not work the way expect and attempt to demand--

I think a lot this is coming from the schools at all education levels.
Everyone gets an A. Schools are starting to teach kids that everyone should be treated equally as we've all stated in this thread. What is happening is the kids that are used to busting their butts and studying to earn an A are now realizing that now matter what they do it's still going to be an A so the work for a reward is not required. Do they keep studying hard? No of course not. The kids that are making F's are now getting A's so they don't feel bad about themselves and lose self worth. Do you think they're studying harder now? Hell No. This is the basic touchy feely principle that is not being squashed but is becoming more and more popular among educators. Not all teachers are like this but things are trending this way. Mediocrity.

Bingo. Creating a generation of losers...one dose of nicey nice politically correct tollerance at a time.
Because the world is just rainbows and butterflies. Thats good logic to hammer into your kids head and prepare them for life.

This is only partly true. I went to a public school, it was a nicer one but it was still public. The education was not like this. Yes if you take the retard classes it is easier but you still have to work to get good grades. I cared aboit my education and took many AP classes which are like college courses at a little slower pace in highschool. These were hard classes for me (well some of them) and ive got a good head on my shoulders. I got a 33 on the ACT which I think is good and these classes would challenge me. There were many kids who couldnt handle the classes and they were kicked out.

So what im trying to say, if you have the drive to be better the oppurtunity is there. I was pushed into these classes cause my counsellor knew I could do it. Then there are the kids who just smoke pot and dont do anything in.school and suffer in life. I think it is up to the student how they want their.education to be. If they want to be losers... Thats their choice

Well I have to say--I dropped out of college the day I turned 16 (b/c. of course I knew better than everybody else)....but ended-up w/a ridiculous number of advanced degrees so I think, as others have stated, it comes down to the individual.

What's more, I think those that have worked out for some time and then decide to do AAS are a certain type of person: driven, not restricted by societal norms, self aware, above average intelligence--and studies have borne these conclusions out. The funny part is the average person has a very different perception of a gear user--and the perception is (1) wrong; (2) fueled by the media; and (3) fueled by 17 yo that do gear, rob a 7-11, get caught, and blame gear (not their idiotic selves).

thus, much respect to the majority of bros on this board and yes I am playing with font/color--need to liven things up a bit:-).

Yes^^^ This.

I agree with you Eddy I have been doing alot of reading and I see newbs on here asking guys to tell them what they want to hear, literally. You tell them the cycle they made up doesnt make any sense, and that their pct isnt good enough, their dosages are too high or low, their duration is too long or short, you tell them that steriod is known to give you a limp dick it doesnt matter what they all disagree. Do not come on here to ask men for their opinions on things and get all pissy like a little whiney girl when you dont get the response that you want. Theres alotta guys like myself who may be new to this board but were using AAS before some of these punks were born. You ask for peoples opinions expect the un expected, wanting to come across some majic pill or oil or cycle that will turn you from whiney little internet hobbit into Bill Kazmaier, Kevin Levrone, Usain Bolt, or whoever you idolize overnight is foolish and juvenile. Almost all of the shit these guys ask about is pinned at the top of the page why cant they just read it for themselves?

You want to make gains? The gains are made in your head. Always made in your head. You can inject yourself with 5000mg per week of god knows what and take 300mg per day of orals and hammer yourself with GH and insulin and whatever you think is going to make you bigger faster or stronger but if you do not know wtf you are doing, if you don't educate yourself, if you dont have the mindset and the balls to actually make it happen, it wont.

If you do not believe that you can do something, then you simply can't.

The Green Bastard is correct--too many people think of AAS as some sort of magic pill...if it was magic it would not be so you could endure more pain more often:0

you would be surprised how many guys ive seen up here in canada do $500 dollar cycles and gain like 4 lbs, and loose it all. guys who smoke and eat nothing but 1500 calories of fast food every day. if it was easy everyone would do it. truth be told when im off cycle i never, ever, have the steam to train as hard or as long as i do when im on.

imo, history repeat itself and the fundamentals never change.

was the greatest generation better than babyboomers, are babyboomers better than gen x, is gen x better than gen y, is gen y better than millinas?

The answer imo is no, were just different for better and worse. Were there lazy slobs and highly motivated people in each generation? Yes of course.
Times have changed but things are the same. Some things take more effort and some take less nowadays but the fundamentals never change imo.

I never stop reading, talking with experienced people, and learning not really for myself as much as for my buddies that are all still juicing and have questions. The only real thing that I have found can give someone the reason to not listen to others on AAS would be they have genetics that differ.... and their body handles certain things rather well in comparison to others. Like with me my lipids and my liver values are really unchanged by orals that normally fuck ppl up bad aside from superdrol... lawd I wish I listened before running a week of that poison.
