Yes. GMs are a great substitute for hypers. The hyper bench in my gym has been "missing" and I've been doing high(er) rep sets of GMs instead. Like mrplunky, I prefer to do these with "soft" knees.
Well..... If your torso breaks parallel from flexion at the knee you are fine. In fact you are nailing your hams in a good way by doing this. Think GHR on a hyper bench with a short range of motion

define "bent knees" I think it's good form to have a very slight bend when doing good mornings as opposed to the straight leg version. I would never go below five reps with good mornings...it's an exercise that needs to be performed with care.
