Scary shit! Dont get the flu shot

Fuck the flu shot. I don't trust government medicine. Hell, I don't even trust most medicine. Cold flu? Eat oranges and run your ass off. Sweat it out. You got a sore throat or a bad cough? Stop talking so much. Eat some hot soup. Sleep.

Broken arm? Wrap it up in a cast. Don't jerk off for six months. Fractured skull? Walk it off.

Quit being a bitch America. You don't need medicine. You just need to eat right and tough it out.

You know what the funny thing is? Out of everyone on this board, you are probably the most likely to get sick and possibly die from H1N1. Not saying either will happen, but oh the irony if it did. (not wishing anything bad on ya bro, just sayin.)
 
i find so much humor in people with no medical training or education trying to come up with conspiracies about vaccinations. its like the autistic community trying to blame the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination on causing autism. zero medical correlation yet people still blab on like they have a foot to stand on. considering the h1n1 flu is killing young people, all you psuedo doctors should be alarmed.
 
I don't really know why there's no much talk about this particular strain of Flu. Influenza have not posed an epidemnic in 100 years.

Look at it like this. More people die each day from car crashes than this flu. How many people have died from this flu? How many people died from the Bird flu last year? How many from Sars a couple years ago? Like what? 50? 100? 200? 500? I don't even know. It was all hype and ended up nothing. More people die each day from walking to their mailbox to pickup their mail, then accidentally tripping over the curb and cracking their heads.

i contracted the flu a few days ago. its upper respiratory. don't know if its swine or what but it sucks.

still working out everyday though. diet is skewed to more soup and garlic because of it though.

Actually H1N1 was formally called Swine Flu. A e-mail circulated today at school on this very subject. "Most people have mild to moderate symptoms, and will recover completely at home without the need to see a doctor or be tested for Flu. The CDC, and the Public Health Department do not recommend deep cleaning or special disinfection procedure to reduce flu transmission, just routine cleaning of common surfaces and personal spaces. The H1N1 flu strain is appearing to be a fragile virus and may not live long in the air or on surfaces." I para phased a two page memo.

Dipshits don't realize, the vaccine is to prevent you from dying from a particular deadly flu. A "vaccine". It says nothing that you won't get the flu immediately - in fact if you do, and then get over it, the chances of you getting swine flu is almost nil. There are plenty of jobs (hell, school districts, even) that if you take more than a day or two off for being sick your employment is in jeopardy, unless you can produce a doctor's note (which means, you have to go out to the doctor, and doctors won't see people who have the flu because they don't want those germs in their office).

Now let's say we have parents who have two school aged children and no external support (i.e., family members who don't have to work and are able to watch the kids). Mom takes off work to stay home when the older one gets a flu. Dad takes off work to stay home when the younger one gets another bug. They've both burned their sick time on their kids, and now they're sick with no vacation or personal days left. Their boss tells them, sorry, but you take any more sick time, paid or not, don't bother coming back other than to clean out your desk.

yeah, I know those situations suck. my office is allowing people to take off work no matter what, sick days are paid no matter how many you take this flu season to prevent the whole office getting sick.

I know not every job is like that but more and more are becoming that way since people are able to work from home. But I know not eveyone has the luxury to stay home.

But I do know that a ton of those people just lack common sense. No one needs to go to the gym

I've never been treated by a doctor who, when you suspected you had a contagious illness, wanted you to come to their private office. I've had them flat out tell me to stay home and if things went bad, go to the ER. I also confess I'm the first to admit that when it comes to doctors I have NOT had good luck. Long story short, apparently I have an unerring skill at consistently picking the physician who graduated at the bottom of his class.

I've only been a formally practicing Wiccan for the past 4 or so years. I swore off doctors more than ten years ago after the last one narrowly missed killing me over a relatively simple infection.

It looks like about 40,000 people die each year of car accidents in the United States. That's forty times more than this swine flu.

Really, don't worry about this flu. Just wash your hands and shit and you'll be fine. Don't jump the gun and take the stupid vaccine.

The government has been shady in the past with all their experiments on civilians and military personnel.

And plus, if it's not broke, why fix it? If you're not sick and you're healthy, why try to fix it? You can say it's preventative, but what are you preventing? A flu that does jack shit? It's just not worth the risk to your health, to your families health.

That's news to me too. I've never heard of someone being turned away from a doctor's office because they were sick.

Two days ago, we took our 10 month old in because he's had a persistent cold (or the flu). He tested negative for strep but was put on Amoxicillin because he's obviously got a bug of some sort. We called around 11:00 and got an appointment at 2:30.

With school districts being unionized I'm surprised you'd say that. I've worked for my district for 10 years. I receive 7- sick; 7- pn; & 14 vacation days. Sadly, my best friends son is in USC waiting for a double lung transplant. She has used all her sick, pn & vacation. She now is working part time for 100 days. At which time she will be up for review. I've known people who have gone out on leave for a year plus and still had there jobs. It's situations like this that make working conditions tolerable.

Hence why many love getting union jobs like teacher, long shoreman, federal jobs, etc. If you're a teacher - it takes an act of god to get you fired or laid off. Even if you get fired somehow, you can appeal and get paid to sit at home for 2 years! lol. And laid off/fired from a federal union job? as if.

Pepoel in private sector dog eat dog jobs have no idea how relaxing and great it is on the other side. They gave up that chance years ago cuz the myth always is "private sector pays more". NOt to mention most of these people only care about paychecks (evne if it means way more stress and long bouts of unemployment).

My parents worked federal and had jobs all their lives til they retired. I can only imagine the stress and constant money problems if they had gone private.

the government isnt making the flu shot. and its being used worldwide. and the injectible shots dont have weakened strains of the virus in them, they are dead and in solution. and the nasal spray has a weakened version of the virus in it. and the young people dying arent fat, ugly, or sick like youre saying.

these measures are in place to try and stop a pandemic before it becomes extremely widespread and the fear is that this will mutate into further, stronger chains. the flu is getting stronger and stronger.

i wouldnt go to either of those reference sources youve left for real advice. the vaccine is not to control people. people living in close quarters should be alarmed somewhat. this flu is extremely unpredictable. thats the concern, thats the fear.

real doctors, like your gp or my gp, they all stand by it. i trust my gp and have been with him a long time. my baby doctor has the same views. my wifes gp has the same views. none of them said it was live or die. they all clearly said they couldnt say what would happen if myself or my wife got it, missed the window for tamiflu, and had not been vaccinated. they said the vaccine will help with the severity which lead to complications.

GBS isn't a direct cause from the flu vaccine either. It "may" be a cause, but they don't know for certain. In most cases they never really know why people get GBS.
 
oh, and guess what. For those people that have GBS you're somewhat taking their life in your hands by not getting the flu vaccine, because if you get sick and pass it on to someone with GBS you can potentially kill them because of their weakened immune system.

seriously though, common sense needs to come into effect here. people in the medical field and education (from day care through college years, including masters and doctorate) should be vaccinated. its not a big deal. my wife is a teacher, they all want it. it makes perfect sense. some of these stories about people being forced and employment being threatened, show me proof. my friend tries to sell this shit to me too and i listen but wont allow myself to buy in. try and be reasonable. like i said, dont get it but dont spread misinformation. instead of studying the flu vaccine, study up on the flu itself. understand it before you just buy into bullshit media propaganda.

I dont take her out yet but I cant leave her in the house all flu season and I cant trust other people to stay home when they are sick. Even in my own family sadly

I tried googling it, but I think maybe I should stay away from googling health stuff right now I find out more info than what I need and stress more lol

i got the flu a few weeks ago and stayed home from work on a monday. i went to work on that tuesday but they took one look at me and said to go home. i was so bad i couldnt get out of bed till friday but i only work monday thru thursday. well i was threatened to be fired for taking a week off from work for being sick. i tried explaining that had i went everyone else would be sick right now cause i got it from my son who gave it to his mother and her family and i gave it to my fiance. its funny how the supervisors at my job get mad i took off work but i only did it mainly so i wouldnt pass it on to everyone there.
