Discuss the scariest film you have ever seen and why you think it's the scariest.

i'm going to have to go with "Vertigo" by Alfred Hitchcock. Just gave chills down my spine the first time i saw it. never seen a film with that type of suspense or emotion in it....

poltergeist is definitely one of the top ones as well. scary as shit a ton of people actually died on the set as well.

as for horror movie fails. phantasm, and the leprechaun lead them in my opinion....

for a final note. the film "Games" with James Caan is supposedly the scariest movie ever made, and it was took off showing and television. you can only find it on VHS, and i've never met someone that finished the entire movie.

discuss.

on one more quick note before i leave for the gym, i remember my dad showed me chuckie when i was 4, and i thought it was the scariest shit ever. also i saw some screwed up movie with people eating corn and turning into trolls or something. man, so many horror movies are fails, but chuckie was different.... lol

Nosferatu

Nosferatu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Made in 1921, but this side shuffling vampire still scares the hell out of me.

i heard the old one was one of the scariest films ever. never saw it. im talking about the original one.

can't believe i don't see more hitchcock fans jumping on this.

Original Night of the Living Dead scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. People just trapped, no way out which is one of my biggest fears.

More recent? The Grudge really freaked me out. The filming was done incredibly well.

Original TCM was scary, but really more in a messed up "holy crap I can't believe they did that" way.

I'm a hugh Hitchcock fan, but I see his body of work as sophisticated suspense not the jump outta your chair scare. His films aren't the kind you need to hold your hands to your face sneaking a peek every now and then.

Grease. Just totally scared the shit out of me when I saw some people liked it and it became a hit. Any Adam Sandler movie, man that shit is odd and scary, how he went from saturday night live to making kids movies, OMG that is scary.

Emily spoke in tongues, including Latin,German,Ancient Greek,Hebrew and Aramaic which at her age the odds nearly come out to impossible she could have known. Copied below but some languages are not even recognised by google or word and she spoke them during her exorcisim

1. אני הוא ששוכן בתוך קין.
I am the one who dwells within Cain!
(Ani hu sheshokhen betokh Cain.)

2. Ego sum quis habitavit in Nerone.
I am one who dwelt within Nero!

3. Mιά φορά κατοίκησε μέσα σε Ιούδας!
I dwelt within Judas!
(Mia fora katoikese mesa se Ioudas!)

4.Ich war mit Legion.
I was with Legion.
(Ish var mit Legion.)

5. ܐܢܐ ܒܠܝܐܝܠ.
I am Belial.
(Ana Belial.)

6. And I am Lucifer, The devil in the flesh.

You spoke about movies changing your life ... the real recording is out there and you can hear 6 different voices 6 different languages and it was all her. So, it may bother some, it kind of did me, but feel free to search it out if you choose.

Also, anybody ever play the video game Phantasmagoria? It came out about 12 years ago I think. Anyway it was this interactive computer game about a couple that buys an old mansion that is haunted. That game was freaky to play!

althought emily rose was based on a true story. i thought the film sucked ass. original was way more terrifying. the court scenes in ER i thought were dumb as hell.

i havent seen very many scary movies but event horizon was pretty disturbing

Save yourself....from hell.

That movie was on HBO the other day and I watched again, good flick.

I snuck into the movie theater to watch it when I was in 5th grade or so, just about shit my pants.

leprauchan 4. back to the hood. Actually that was the funniest movie I have ever seen. Fuckin' leprachaun running around getting high and killing gang bangers with bongs.

Watching the exorcist when I was about 8 got me scared shitless.

That's about it though.

I watched the film 'paranormal activity' Recently. Brilliant film. I would say i'm too old to get 'scared' at this age, but it did keep me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

Dead Silence, no question about it. I was afraid to go in my bathroom after watching it in case I saw one of those creepy puppets in the reflection.
When I was young, it was Poltergeist
Photos from Dead Silence

When I was a kid, Nightmare on Elm Street, scared me.

Hellraiser - The first one & the uncut version, scared the crap out of me way back when too. Candyman also scared me. I was afraid to look into the mirror at night for about 1 week, after seeing the first one. I like the "Chiller" channel on cable. They play a nice assortment of horror movies. They don't really scare me much these days. Nothing has really scared me in a quite a long time. I think I've become sort of immune to the gore.

LMAO at the English Patient! That was scary longggggg.

The Exorcist

I saw the Exorcist on television when I was a senior in high school and for the next two weeks I slept with the light on.

Alien was another great one. More suspensful than scary but it does make the hair on the back on your neck stand up. The face hugger, and the first time you saw that acid spitting, reptialian alien that was some scary shit.

Shrooms hands down i find it hard to get scared from watching movies because i know its fake, but this one.... it could happen.

This movie is a bloody head trip massacare with out the sack of mushrooms.

Exorcist, screwed me up so bad I was so afraid to sleep alone I snuck in my parents room
while they were sleeping and slept on their bedroom floor. My dad woke up and said
"what the fuck are you doing in here"I tryed to down play it and said I must been sleep walking.
That was 20 yrs ago and still won't watch that movie.

I've seen just about every horror movie ever made. (maybe 95% of them)
I think I've gotten too desensitized to be scared by them.

I was pretty scared during Paranormal Activity, but I saw it in the theater. 1408 was pretty scary too.

1408 really upset me from like...a parental standpoint....and made me jump, but I can't say it scared me...the ending freaked me out tho

the ring scared the ever lovin chit out of me (go ahead mock me)...I can't handle the disjointed reverse movement played forward crap

exorcist still sorta scares me and terririfed me when I was little

some movie where they were like pushing closet walls through time or something when I was like five still makes me freaked about closets at night...but that may not of even of been a movie, I was like 4

I will not watch movies about demon posession. Once you let your eyes see something..you cant un- see it. I have enough nightmares. Especially when I know something is real, I'm not entertained by watching it on a movie.

The exorcist was the last moive on demon possession I watched. I purchased Paranormal Activity on VOD without really realizing what it was and it was shut off pretty quickly once the real shit started happening.

I have - oh whats that sleep disorder - sleep paralysis; where you are awake and cant move but still hallucinate like in a dream; Paranormal Activity was a little too close for comfort LOL

The Original Exorcist scared the shit out of me. Whenever I went to bed after I watched it, I was like please dont take over my body and if my bed starts to shake I'm gonna flip.

I love Silent Hill - it IS a freaky movie, but it's just that super creepy type of movie that you have to watch again.....the jiggety nurses with scalpels in the hospital were SUPER creepy.....so is the guy with the giant hammer thing. Great movie.....fun game.....
