scar removal can be quite effective with scar revision. the doc will literally cut the scar off and stitch back the surrounding skin. if done right it should heal without evidence of any surgery.
of course this will not work in all cases. it will depend of location and size of scar.
elasticity of the skin in the area a factor. if skin too tight scar revision may not be an option.
health insurance should pay for this procedure, if not related to a botched cosmetic surgery.
