ha ha you crack me up :lmao: I am going all the way down buddy, 90 degrees or perpendicular to the ground :) (whichever you prefer) No reason for the being up at 3 really just woke up and couldn't get back to sleep... but finally laid back down and made myself sleep til 5:30 when it was gym time WOOOO HOOO ;)

OK... usually don't go off on rants here in my log... but I gotta let it somewher??? Just show up at family cookout and my mom again tells me that I look like I could be gaining some weight :worried: (Funny all my pants are looser on me including the 5's I have on now) And just last week she was telling me that I look "healthy" for a change! :( Then starts making jokes about how I am prob gaining since I eat all the time... "I felt like saying Oh yeah because chicken and brocolli will really put the pounds on ya" OK rant done!!! but I def lost all my appetite or the mood to be "trying" to have a good time with the family :(

Sorry to hear about the comments that you had to endure at your family cookout....I know it's hard to just ignore the words, but you *know* your pants are loose and you *know* that you're maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. Now you need to throw any annoyance or anger you feel into your next workout and you'll be fine, girl! :heart: :rose:

Oh, I take it you must get the same trash from your family huh? It gets old... first I was fat (back in high school and college) then lost weight a couple years ago and was "too skinny" and now I am gaining again... wow there is just NO PLEASIN some people... and they say that we are our own worst critic :FRlol:

Thanks so much girl!!! I did just that too... I went straight from the cookout to change, then to the gym and I hit a few PR's so I guess I needed that little motivation grrr thanks family :evil: It does get old especially since it was just the other day my mom referred to me as looking "healthy" I said umm thanks, I'll take that as meanin fat... (since she looked right at my gut)

My family used to do that to me too - don't allow them to project their negativity onto you....they are trying to make themselves feel better by bringing you down....Don't let them!!

I couldn't agree more!! All through my teen years, my dad reminded me constantly that I was fat. When I finally lost the weight a year or two after college, all I heard was that I now looked sickly. Now about 10+ years later, they have finally come to terms that I plan to stay this way and live healthily, and I no longer hear any comments one way or the other. It will eventually happen, but till then, don't let them get you down!!

And great job with translating that anger into PRs at the gym..that's what I'm talkin' about!! :D

Wow... we got a lot in common... Hey you, my husband always tell me "you can't please everybody, only yourself!" People don't like change, and even if it is for the better, and even if it doesn't involve them, people just don't like it. But in time, it isn't a change it is a way of life. Just like we had to get used to eating different and our habits so does everybody else. As well, everybody has an opinion about something, you can take it or leave it, as long AS YOu know what is right for you, that is all that matters! :heart:
 
This really pissed me off this morning, for reasons that I will let someone else share if she ever decides to.

Parents have no f-ing idea how important their words are and how harmful they are to their "child", no matter what his/her age. The amount of absolute ignorance regarding effective family communication simply astounds me. I have talked to so many young women who have psychological problems because of the stupidity and crap that freely flows out of their parent's idiotic minds and mouths.

What's the point? "You look thin." "You are gaining weight." WTF are they trying to do? Do they think they are helping? How about this: if you really love your children, consider learning about exercise and diet and providing some intelligent input. How about doing it WITH them? Otherwise, STFU, before you scar your daughter for the next 20 years while she seeks to create her own identity from other ignorant people, until (and sometimes IF) she finally comes across someone knowledgeable enough to help and not create further, deeper issues.

I have exceptionally few hot buttons. Welcome to one of them.

Duckie, keep strong and know that you have a great support group here. You're on the right track, and if you ever need any help, please let me know. :rose: :hug:
 
Nelms, THANK YOU sooo much for the post!!! You and IP are both sweet :heart: s and I can't wait to meet you both here pretty soon :D I appreciate everything you had to say though and I am sorry to have hit one of your hot buttons though :worried: Needless to say, it hit me hard earlier when her and my aunt were saying that because I had just taken some more progress pics the other day and the few people that I did let see them all said that they could again see improvements and that I had made progress... but after today those are surely NOT gettin posted and I'll wait another week and see if I can't get some better ones! Guess it all worked out in the end though because I went to the gym and kicked some @$$ with the weights even setting a few PR's along the way :D Again thank you so much, everyone here is so great and I couldn't be more happy that I stumbled upon this site a couple months ago! I'll gladly take all the advice and tips that you ever have to offer... and THANK YOU again! :rose:
 
Duckie, I'm going to say this, and I hope you consider it: POST your pics.

Do NOT let what some unknowledgeable person/people said take away your progress. Not posting them let's them win, and that's BS. You have support, you have objective, MEASURABLE progress (looser pants, weight room PRs) that basically prove that the ignorant are WRONG. You, on the other hand, are right. Don't let them take that away from you.

Be strong, be confident, look at the FACTS...and post the pics. :heart:
 
Ducky, you really should post your pics. You even said yourself that you know you are making progress. I understand that they are your family but sometimes they don't always say such nice things or things that they even mean. Live your life for you, not them. I really hope you change your mind and put up some pics. :heart:

Well... I wasn't that impressed by the pics anyways, thats why I am hoping to take some more one these next couple days, then we'll see ;)

Thanks for the support girl!!! I know that stuff like that shouldn't affect me, but seeing as how I was always chunky growin up and all throughout high school and college, I guess I let it get me down more. Plus my self esteem is definately VERY low I can say that for a fact :( I'll think about getting some up here in the next few days, for all to compare but right now still just debating :lmao:
