Hi everyone....

I have a question about abs.... I know abs are all about diet, however, I have been sticking with the diet( really well for approx 3-4 weeks) and doing sit-ups(no weight) about every to every other day. I still don't see my abs:( Last time I checked on my bf% I was about 12-13%, I am checking again on July 11th....

Am I doing something wrong? Am I still to fat see abs? I am trying to build right now, but I still would like to see my abs....

Are you holding water?

You have to decide if you want to build or see your abs.

You shouldn't be working abs everyday, like any other muscle they need time to rest.

And, are you only doing sit ups, or are you doing a variety of crunch type exercises that work all of the abdominal muscles? The following magazines have some AWESOME ab routines that you might want to check out if you have access to them:

Well, some people won't see abs until they are lower in bf% than 12-13%.....

Sometimes its just genetics -- my abs didn't show up until 2 weeks before my BB show where I was around 8% bf.

Hey everyone....

Thanks as always for the advice :) I am doing a various amounts of exercises....lower, obliques, upper, and so forth.... I did notice though that some girls use some weights for abs on elte....isn't that jsut going to make the belly bigger? I am not using weights...should I?

Its just really frustrating because I want to lose bodyfat and see more of the muscles, but at the same time I want to build,build, and build. I work very hard and eating right, but the abs have seem to be a major issue....its just very disappointing...

Thx girl. I understand your frustration -- when I cut, my back gets hella ripped up and I start looking skeletal & I still don't have any abs. You can rely on diet & general bodyfat loss to reveal your abs, and in the mean time, do stretching exercises, e.g. not full crunches but some ab work, and ab work with frequency just as any other muscle group is fine. But to really focus on hard ab exercises is only useful when you have exposed abs and you want to thicken them. Too much overall work will just give you a thick waist -- not fat,but thick.

Doesn't it depend on your build as well? If not, that's scary. I'm at 28%bf (which sounds ridiculous when you guys are saying you're at 12/13%) but I find that I'm getting flatter at a ridiculous rate as I lose overall right now. I can feel things tightening. What I'm scared of however is that once I'm down to the weight I want to be, it's going to be a major fight to develop the tone I want to. Comments?
