Radio host linking the deaths of former NFL players to gear

cranny said:
Colin Cowherd on ESPN was talking about how 7 former Steelers have died since the year 2000 b/c of steroid use in their past. I believe they were all linemen which were in their 40's and 50's. I do know alot of linemen tend to get rather large after retirement. To me, this contributes alot to it. He went on about how gear was used alot w/ the Steeler teams back in the 70's and 80's. What's your take on it, more media propaganda or any merit?

Half the crap Colin says he doesnt even believe. The guys just trying to get ratings and always is trying to "shock people". I really think the guy is an idiot. But thats why i listen LoL. So hes got me.

So many guys use HGH, AAS, and whatever else they can get their hands on that its rediculous. I know guys who've gone from DIII nobody to Star of the semi pro league and now in arena football. This guys is short, but he's fast as hell and ripped now with some strenght all using growth hormone and whatever. I mean, not everyone can afford it, but there are those that can remember. Even if you take gear, like they were saying, you gotta work hard and be dedicated... thats #1 rule. If your not, it's useless not only for your performance but for your health. Guys want to cut out cardio because its not too hard and they get too lazy... thats #1 thing for me, cardio, then weights. That's crazy though hearing about Walter Payton, I mean, you kind of suspected it, just watching him bull doze those defenders and his workouts, I seen in his new autobiography his arms in one picture running up a hill... Man, there f***in huge. Even dieon sanders was on steroids and got caught before starting with the ravens... now gatlin, landis... another reason why there are so many late bloomers in sports.. It's all abou the $$$$

I am not saying it in a negative way. He is just a player that has passed before his time. I could care less if professional athletes use steroids or not. I think it definitely makes sports better. Imagine WWE without steroids, or McGwire, or Bonds, or Giambi, or the NFL. A pretty boring world if you ask me. Do you really think Walter would tell his family..."Oh yeah, by the way, I pop dbols like they're going out of style. I keep it from my family, as does pretty much everyone else I know.

I knew Walter Payton and his family. That's not true.

Its not propaganda (a little may be), but most of it is pure ignorance on the topic. They think they know what they are talking about, and havve no clue. Problem is they are the one's with the pulpit to preach from.

Kind of hard to believe about Walter popping em like candy. He was never huge nor puffy.

u guys got to understand being a lineman in nfl is almost unhealthy itself. they want u to be 300+ and yes when ur carrer is over if you dont loose that wieght than u
put urself at risk like anyother overwieght person. anabolics have a purpose in todays atheletes in almost every sport. yes they r dangerous but do i think the lead to an earlier death. no...

a big yes here...not a healthy position, and lets be honest-when you are used to eating like 4 mules,it's hard to change the lifestyle...look at Golick and Saragusa(sp) even though they appear to be dropping some pounds lately. I like Cowherd's show but he is MEDIA first and foremost!!

Who knows, but I agree, pro sports need aas in order to be at the level it is today. Its for 1, what brought baseball back to being americas sport after football. But it's putting the us back on the map as being the world dominance in sports, a curupt dominance if that, but hey, even our government can't doge that one.
