Questions about Jehovas

It's all faith and perception.

I have no problem donating 10% of my money to the church of my choice.

They refuse to vote, salute the flag, sing the "Star Spangled Banner, celebrate birthdays or Christmas, won't take blood transfusions, and they can't join the armed forces.

My mother as an RN years ago had to watch a little Jehova boy die in the
hospital bed because his parents refused to give him a blood transfusion.

Strange thing is that many of these conservative religions look at us in similar shock
at what we do and allow our children to do like piercings, cussing, trashy clothes etc.
Its all in your perception of what is normal I guess..

They don't believe in hell, and they believe in a paradise on earth after armageddon (not the movie :) ) Only 144000 will go to heaven as part of a ruling council. They believe that god, jesus and the holy ghost/spirit is not one and the same, as the rest of christianity does. The only allowed holyday is easter. JEsus himself said that his death was the only thing that should be celebrated. No christmas (they believed he was born in october, which is probably right), no birtday and no national holydays. They do not belive in the cross. They do believe that the time of armageddon is at hand, and that it will come within one generation from the time satan was cast from hell. They believe this happend sometime around 1914. They do watch television, they drink alcohol (like wine), they are pacifist, they do not vote, blood transfusions is a mortal sin, they are obliged to spend alot of their spare time spreading the "gospel". Sex before marriage, like most christian beliefs is probably a sin. But being married to a non jehavas is not illegal, but probably frowned upon. If you are cast out, you do not exist to them, and are ignored completely. Medication is of course allowed, just as long no blood transfusion will occur.
They believe that one day in the genesis is really a 1000 years, and that this happened 6000 years ago.
The first thing god created was jesus christ, end they together created the heavens and earth. They can use contraception (spelling?). Homosexuality is a sin.

Giving 10% of your earnings is also pretty common for most religious sects/cults..whatever. I think this is stated in the bible..

Did I forget something??

you are mostly right...but noone is cast out and permanently ignored...for example , if a woman is to get pregnant before being married she will most like be "disfellowshipped", this is temporary thing were the other members of the church are told not to associate with until you have been forgiven for your sin , which can be a pretty short period of time, during that time though, you are not frowned upon or treated badly, they just try not to pay attention to you because thats what they are told to do. As far as money goes...everything is free, bibles, watchtowers, pamphlets, tons of other publications, they just have donation stands to cover the cost of publishing all these articles and what not...i went for years and i was never once pressured into donating one single cent, and i must say for the large majortiy, they are some of the nicest, most down to earth peole you will ever meet.

I have to say Jehovah's wirnesses are one of the few religions I think can be properly charecterized as cultish. They are way out there, and are not considered Christians by any mainstream denomination. Mormons would come in a close second

No doubt, the next closest thing.

But they have very solid family values, and that speaks strongly to me personally as a single father.

I know everything is for free, which is kind of unique this day in age. I never said that giving 10% of your earnings was something that was practised among Jehovas Wittness, I just said it wasn't uncommon that this happened among religious groups.
But I suppose how i worded this made it easy to interpret this as such. My mistake.

But I am very certain that Jehovas witness cast out/banish people that continue to sin against their teachings. not because of one mistake, not two, but people that commit crime against God on several occasions. Your example would probably not warrant such banishemnt (I have to admit, I'm not sure of this). those cast out will be able to remedy themselves after a certain period of time, if they show true remorse. But if not, they are "dead" to the congrigation. If this is permanent, guess is up to themselves and the elders

I have myself spent some time in my youth studying with a member of this "sect". Never a convinced believer myself ( I consider myself an atheist), but I've always been facinated by religion as a whole. And I agree, nicer & more decent people than a Jehovas witness is hard to find.

PS: I apologise for my bad spelling, and wording. I am in a hurry :)

I heard Mormon chicks are tought to give Good Head by the other ladies in their church... Seriously.

As to the banishing
If some dude continues to yell or cuss etc during a protestant or catholic
service they aren't gonna ask him to leave ?

And as to the 10%, it is called tithing and goes back to the old testament command
to give to the church 10% of what you grow.. very common

Never heard that.
But the saying at BYU is, "If it's oral, it's moral."

So they bone up on the blow job skills.

I used to go out w/a J-DUB. I met her right after she got kicked out and shunned by her friends and family. She was married at 18. (because she wanted to have sex). But, the church found out that she went to a male review and she was lusting after other men. So, they kicked her out and she got a divorce.

She had lived such a sheltered life that she though all "worldly " people did drugs, stole, had sex w/everyone, etc. J-DUBs didnt believe in porn, oral, anal, or lesbian sex. So, guess what she wanted to do as soon as they gave her the boot. (w/me)

I learned never to raise a kid in such a strict religeon. Because, her sister rebelled and did drugs and had 5 kids w/5 dads. Her brother was juiced to the gills and lost everything to coke. And, most her friends did the same. They were put under too much preasure and were forced into the real world too niave.
