Proposal -- ban the bomb?

I think the G bomb, COTB bomb and Platinum bomb have run their course. Time to eliminate these features, or limit them only to Moderators. Blacked-out messages are disruptive; more so, in my opinion, than the content that warranted censure.

Bombs are no fun. It's a negative feature that detracts from the atmosphere of the place. It's played out. Please consider this plea to ban the bomb?

I disagree.

Wait you want a forum that does allow more tension to develop in discourse, because this give it a more 'authentic' feel, yet u complain that the bomb is disruptive...
I'm not saying u have to be consistent or anything... but I'm not sure I sense a cohesion in your arguments...

I don't see anything contradictory there. Although "edge" might have been a better choice of words than "tension". What I was trying to express in that other thread wasn't that I value animosity, but a certain natural tension in human discourse is not necessarily a bad thing. But neither tension nor harmony have much value to me if they are phony or forced.

Silencing or censuring people's posts doesn't really add anything to the flow of the conversation. Just means I have to take some extra time to highlight their post before reading it.

I see... well can't argue with that...
I agree that a certain 'edge' is okay, and yeah, forced harmony would suck and make convo boring... I don't think that would ever happen though... as long as their is convo, there will be disagreement, but I disagree about the bombs... in fact I say make more bombs that express different type of emotional discord with the person...
I think the bombs provide a symbolic visual feel of discord that are way better than personal attacks through words... I would rather be bombed than some one calling me a racial slur, or whatever.

I like the bomb feature.

I don't have a problem with the bombs themselves.

But I think it's a bit ridiculous that paying members can get bombed/blacked out without being able to diffuse them (COTB bombs)

Either way is cool ......... however EF wants to be I support it. Man 1500, where did you hit all that Karma bro? Jeez man..... LOL.

I've been taking it from hurricane nightly in the Karma Bookie Forum:supercool here have some.

Its just a creative way for EF to make some money (not that there is anything wrong with that). If EF can get more nit wits to open their wallets to act stupid, then my hats off to 'em.

i think they are fun.

maybe because i can't be bombed, but still... sometimes it's fun to watch someone post, knowing they are about to get it, then log back in and sure enough, they're blacked out.

also, if it gives even an iota of satisfaction to the person bombing, then it's serving a purpose.

I agree with Stilleto...

I think they are hilarious. Matter of fact...I think HR and Arabian should just start bombing everyone at random. LOL

If someone wants to fill-up the first page of C&C with fart jokes, bomb then.

Embedding NSFW content in innocent-looking posts, bomb them.

Researching someone and using information obtained beyond what they've offered-up through EF? Bomb (or ban) them.

Discussing/asking for sources/pricing? Bomb them.

But anything other than that, I'd love to see the bomb banned. Bombing someone over their opinion (even if I reaaaaaaaaally hate their opinion) is wrong.

I don't think I've ever bombed you and I hate almost everything that comes out of your mouth...LOL.

You've redded me back in the day over my views. I believe you are two of the four reds I've ever gotten.

Probably because you used to always turn the debate into a personal attack. :whatever:

I never red you over a civil debate, nor anyone else.

No, you often take things personally. There is a biiiiig difference.

As evidenced by this thread, bombs seem to be popular with those who are keen on bullying, or for vindictive reprisal.

Considering the "new rules" on C&C it seems that bombs shouldn't be needed.

But seriously, prob'ly takes a couple of local languages to get by, coming up in Lebanon? Then you maybe got some French and English in school?

I learned English as my first language bro, instead of Arabic.

My mom and dad learned English as kids, so they passed it on to me. I learned Arabic and some French afterwards.

Members of my family speak German, Italian, Spanish, English and French. Ofccourse, we all speak Arabic.
