I think this is more of a remake, though i'd call it Predator without Arnold. Heard stil it was good.

not really. AVP was a good concept, just poorly executed.

Needed a better script, plot and more star power from an acting standpoint.

i walked away from that movie thinking "it wasn't bad, kinda entertaining. but a total waste of potential"

Sure it had a good concept, although I'm of the opinion that many sci fi's have stolen their premises from 5 million Years to Earth. Also, a concept is the seed of a film, being "poorly executed", needing a "better script, plot!!!1, and more star power from an acting standpoint", pretty much accounts for 99.9999% of a film. I still stand by mediocre, although after breakin it down, you have convinced me I was being too generous.

To begin with no one knows how they ended up on the predator planet, and you never find out either lol. The humans just awake while in freefall in the planets atmosphere and have to figure out the parachutes on the way down. LOL. Of course they figure out that they are being hunted just like the original predator movie.

I couldnt believe the blatant ripping off of the original predator movie, that was the worst aspect of the debacle. Im talking complete line for line, scene for scene copying from the original. Even the famous Arnold line "Come on, do it, kill me now, Im here, kill me!" was ripped off verbatim. Other scenes were completely ripped off like the scene in the original where Mack first sees the predator and it flashes its eyes for a second then runs off and everyone opens fire. Fucking scene copied in this movie.

Adrien Brody even muddies himself up at the end to mask his heat signature, just like Arnold. Garbage. The Japanese dude draws his sword to face the predator, just like Billy in the original movie (complete with exact same music). Couldnt believe it all.

There wasnt an original thought in the whole movie. The predators themselves werent anything special either, their pred-vision was jazzed up some but no big deal. No new weapons or different looking predators. Complete crap. The team stumbles upon Lawrence Fishburne who managed to kill a predator and use its mask/gear to activate the camo but that was the only barely interesting moment in the whole movie. Oh, that and Danny Trejo was in the movie. Other than that complete shitfest.

After watching this movie you will want to immediately watch the first predator to get rid of the nasty residue in your mind put there by this movie.
This ones gonna set back the franchise back a good ways.

Was this supposed to be a remake or something new? Even for a remake you'd think Rodriguez would've had a better imagination than that.

RT is usually spot on. will see this for myself.

IMDB is a much better gauge to use than RT, which is mostly comprised of snotty high-brow critics.

I might be a little harsh on movies like this simply because im very protective of favorite childhood movies that feature the GREATEST ACTOR AND MAN OF ALL TIME.
