power cleans - re-racking the bar ..

my gym doesn't have platforms for oly lifts and i'm afraid i'll be creating too much commotion if i were to just dump the bar from my clevicles and risk being flamed by the gym management and maybe members..

so normally i would control my descent while power cleaning.. and i was wondering if this was highly discouraged as there's always a jolt when i bring the bar down back to my hips before deloading the weight on the floor..

thx in advance for any input..
 
I lower it myself too, but I try to get my arms above the bar and get a good grip whilst the bar's still high and moving slowly. Kind of like whipping my elbows around in reverse!

I've yet to drop it, but there's always tonight.
 
ok.. this is what i tried today.. i took two pieces of yoga mat and folded them and placed them under the plates.. so as i drop the bar.. i just sort of made sure my hand is still on the bar while letting it fall so as to ensure it lands directly on the yoga mat.. works fine with me.. and less strain on my joints.. lil bit attention seeking.. but i think i'll get thru..

besides scaring people of and on.. haha..
 
If you have 2 partners, they can help with the decent. Other then that, find a gym w/ bumpers..Or buy your own and bring them in. Thats what we do. After you hit a big clean or snatch, part of the satisfaction is dropping the weight!

ive been dropping my deads.. 315 or higher... and in an La Fitness... im sure im gonna get in trouble soon... but no way in hell am i gonna lower that shit...
i recently maxed out on 405 (i weigh 145) and when that shit dropped ... it was a bit of a scene.. oh well... wouldnt mind getting kicked out and having to go find a real gym... only reason i go there is for the childcare service.. :artist:
