A while back I baught some powdered winny and made a solution of it in water in a sterile baby food bottle. It worked great! BUt, I only used half of it and then just stuck the rest in the back of my closet to wait for my next cycle. Well, six months went by and I had forgot all about it, so I pulled it out and the shit had gone bad! It looks like either mold or bacteria (or both) have started to grow in it. I almost threw it out, when I got the idea to try and recover the powder from the solution. Its water soluble, so all the powder has gone out of solution and is settled on the bottom of the container.
Maybe some of you guys with chemistry backgrounds could help me. Could I just filter this stuff and then bake or dry the powder to dry it out and recover it? Or, should I figure out a way to wash it with something to remove the contaminates? But what would I wash it with? Water won't kill the bacteria/mold, and the stuff may be soluble in alcohol. I'd hate to try and wash it with something only to see it desolve right there before my eyes. Anyway, the mold or whatever doesn't seem to be growing on the winny, but rather in the water and on the sides of the bottle. That is what makes me think I can recover the powder. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
