I don't mean to bitch but posting and replying to posts on this board has gone from bad to worse. This boards at times moves at a turtles pace (that's being generous). I upgraded my membership status to platitum so I can be part of the solution instead of someone that contributes nothing and just complains about the problem.

It might not be a bad idea for some other members here to throw a few dollars to the cause. The more people that go Platitum the quicker George and his crew can upgrade the servers so that EF is an easier site to access. Another idea I like to throw out is a donation pool. EF has more members than all the boards combined. If each of us were to contribute a nominal amount that might provide for a quicker solution to this ongoing problem. Any other ideas??? This problem has gotten real bad and it has become a very time consuming exercise to surf this site.

there are like a thousands of members, if we all sent $1 then there is thousands of dollars.

Great idea JA

After that, this could be the fastest board around

It will take a bit more than 1000 bucks to speed up the servers....at any rate....let me know....I will be glad to chip in.....I am on a t3 line....and it is still slow as shit.....so maybe we can dump the Commodore 64 based server's and upgrade to something like an Apple II C.......:p

is it possible to pay for platinum without giving your personal info? and i agree the site is very hot and cold, sometimes it moves along pretty good but i have a t3 connection at work and that is where i spend most of my time on the board still i wait sometimes 5 minutes sometimes more for a single thread to come up.

It's important to go Platinum. I joined so that I could contribute to the site. If we all want EF to run smooth, and we do, we need to help George support the upgrades.

I agree with you...but I have heard that everyone that went platinum started getting these random emails that included their names and shit like that...what ever happened with that situation?

I think foo has a good idea...

As far as I know the biggest issue now has to do with load balancing and get a web forum that was originally designed for a single system to play nice over 2-3 systems. The new hardware is in place and should offer vast improvement, however things need to be tweaked and massaged and it is pretty tough to do that on a bench in a testing environment because the load is too low. For a board of this size the only real way to tune for performance is when under real world conditions and since these conditions are nearly impossibly to simulate for testing prior to going live, here we are. I should imporve over the weeks to come, please be patient.

I went platimun when it first started, however i never gotten those random E-mails that you speak of,however George goes to great lengths to see that our personal info are kept strictly confidentual. Supporting this site is one way in helping it become the best anywhere!!!!:)

I know he sells supps and has other incomes from the board but until I started my own board www.fitnessgeared.com I never realized how much it costs to keep it running fast, smooth and upgraded I tip my hat to any board owner it is much more than you would probably expect!

There was a hack we installed that made my board much faster but with this many members as this board it must be hard to keep it fast I switched to a big dedicated server and they are fast and expensive I am sure or would imagine with all the traffic they are on a dedicated here there is more he could do I am sure but it is not cheap or easy everyone will spend $2k a year on gear but wont donate $20 to a board to help them!

Even though I dont post here out of respect for another board owner I might pay the platinum fee I will never do that on my board unless I cant afford it because I said I would not but I totally understand where he is coming from now, you would never expect what it takes!

Well said gearedup, unless your in IT or have tried to run a board yourself most people here have absolutely no clue at all just how expensive a site that uses this much bandwidth can cost a month.

And, as I stated, its not really about server speed anymore because he have the horse power and the bandwidth the load just needs to be handles by multiple systems and getting them to all play nice together with the software can take some work.
