Please vote for the number of Platinum Members required to ban a regular member.

How many Platinum Members giving bad karma should activate the banning feature.

  • 2 Plats - Four members is too many - two members would be better.

    Votes: 20 5.7%

  • 3 Plats - Two is too few - four too many - three is the right number.

    Votes: 45 12.8%

  • 4 Plats - currently 4 Platinum Members are needed - this is about right.

    Votes: 143 40.7%

  • 5 Plats - four is too few - five would be better.

    Votes: 53 15.1%

  • 6 Plats - four is too few - six would be better.

    Votes: 83 23.6%

i think 4 is fine as long as they arent bullies
 
I think it should be like this, (if it's possible to do it).

2 for members with less than 100 posts

3 for members with less than 200 posts

4 for members with less than 500 posts

5 for members with less than 1000 posts

6 for members with less than 5000 posts

I think it should be 3 but if one plat gives them a bomb then another plats green should take the bomb away that is how we would avoid people ganging up. Only SPAMERS etc would get banned.

I agreed but should take 5 platinum for the banned a member.
 
I said 5 - 5 seems about right - also agree with the idea of plats being able to remove a bomb as well as add one.
 
i like 3 becasue if you have 3 diff. people having the same opinion i think it makes it clear someone may be out of line but also if a plat member can give green to take away a bomb then that makes 3 a good number
 
I am with QT, and perkele as well. It should be able to balance out out somehow. Everyone makes a stupid post every now and again, and some people offend others unintentionally sometimes. I think that 4 sounds like a good number. Pretty much if there is a spammer, most people will gang up on him right away which is good. Saw that happen today actually. I think I dropped the third bomb.

while I think the moderators are over worked I also think there is a heavy budy system in pklay here so I think 6 bombs are more fair than then the four you have in play rihgt now...IMO
 
I would Make it 6 different members within a 48 hour period. The reason for the time length is to allow admins to react to any abuse of the system.
 
3 strikes your out, should be the rule just like in anything else. If the person can't straighten up by then...well... I feel sorry for them.

First off I think the whole thing is stupid.

That said,

Problem is, they ARE bullies. It's too easy for a guy to get 3 or 5 of his online "buddies" or just people who like to stir up shit to gang up on someone.

However positive karma is dispensed with such frequency around here, one positive nagating a bomb is too much, there might be some clueless plat who just give everyone karma that saves some douchebag from getting blacked. SO for reversal there should be more positive karma (like two positive karma hits from a plat negate ONE bomb), or a certain AMOUNT of karma, like 100 karma points received after a bomb negate it.

I know we're making things too complicated for George and his guys to program, so the short answer is, it should be much harder to black someone than it is now.
 
I personally think it should be 5. That way it is harder to gang up on someone for fun.

I voted for 6, I think it would be too easy to get 4 members together ganging up on one they just didn't like.

Yeah sadly most members are not mature enough for this feature it was a really great idea to.

i think 6 because people have tendancies to bomb for fun........or bomb ppl who arent alters....i know from experience!
 
I think 5 is fine. Sure people might gang up on someone... it will always happen. The point is that person did something in the first place to get the bomb.
I think it should take at least 500 green karma given to defuse a bomb. Even a 1000 isn't that bad. You can get that on a busy day without even posting!

Voted, but please be careful this is a fine line being walked between logical and earned rights and what could look to some like a power trip.
I can imagine what it takes to keep this site running and I wonder how many Plats are converts from Standard. I hope the decision makers know this stat before they make there decision because this could run some standards away, or at least make sure it is well explained with reasoning so as not to be misunderstood.

My vote was 5 it should not be an even number and 3 is to low.

This is a business and no Plat Members should be allowed to ban another. That Guest is a potential paying and contributing Plat. That Guest who is a bit "in-your-face" can quickly become a refreshing source of valuable input. I've seen a number of these guys take a beating as a newbie and today are well respected.

Four Plats could recommend banning, but site management makes the final decision. That decision would require some words of self-defense from the person on the chopping block.

in my opinion, if someone doesnt like someone else, all they have to do is pm 3 of their buddies and gang up on the poor soul and put a hit out on them
just like they used to gang up on someone who pwned them. send out a mass pm

Right on SLAT1. 5 is probably the best number. Running the risk of being preachy, I will add that in a voting system, an odd number of voters work best than an even one. Since, 3 seems too little and 7 too much, we are left with 5.

My personal opinion only MODs and ADMIN should be able to ban another member, BUT if 5-6 Plat Members all PM a MOD about the same member than that should say something and hold some weight I would think.

Seems everyone wants between 4 and 6 so 5 sounds like a number we can all live with without pissing anyone off.

Banning is different from situation to situation. I don't think anyone should be banned until everyone in a certain position has agreed. What one might call for a ban another might not. Add anger, jellousy, or other factors in, and it could be getting the wrong person for the wrong thing. I was a moderator at a forum, and we had guidelines, and amoung those guidelines was never totally ban until the big man says i can. Easy saying. A lot of people look at it different. But these boards are not easy to monitor if everyone is in the chat and conservation area. There are some hard workers here and some that got popular vote. You know who they are. Well is that keeping these boards safe from potential bad posts getting scene by big brother? Some will hate me for saying this. I know some have three or four personalities.... it's not a game I play, its because I have been there. You all opened that can yesterday. I think mods should do their job..... premium members should stay in their place. Why, if I paid money, should i get kicked out and lose the info I am intitled too? That's not fair, and niether is tripping up a person to get them kicked off. That is all I have to say on that.

i don't think there should be a particular number assigned to officially ban a member. i think careful consideration needs to be used, and if a member is a total ass *cough-holyghost-cough*, then that person will be called out and forced to explain themselves. and if they can't, and still remain childish/break the rules then a group of mods should come together and request a banning through an admin.

sorry, that's my military experience side talking....gotta have a chain of command. :)
