Today when I was working out in my gym, on an empty stomach, with music on on the cycling machine, I lost hearing in one ear and heard my breathing instead. It was sooo freaky!! I am constantly listening to music and am afraid I fucked up one of my ears!! (its my left ear) Does this happen from working out or breathing too hard or something?? I am really freaked out... My hearing keeps coming in and out. I don't know what to do. Oh, and I am taking about 50mg of ephedra daily, if that matters. If someone knows ANYTHING about this, or nothing at all, PLEASE SHARE IT WITH ME...I am so scared.

See your physician. Without a physical exam, it's hard to say what you have. There is a possibility that you might have a eustachian tube dysfunction. People describe similar symptoms. However, an infection, ruptured tympanic membrane (ear drum), or more serious conditions cannot be ruled out without actually examining you. So go see your physician.

This isn't meant to be medical advice.

Could just be build up of ear wax also. Some of us are pros at using a babee pin to clean out ear wax. But since you're not sure, I wouldn't suggest you try it. See your doctor. They have a special machine they use to suction out ear wax.

do NOT put anything in your ear other than a q-tip. Go see an ear/nose/throat specialist.
most likely, its earwax or a virus.

Actually you shouldn't put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear.

Most physicians recommend using half-diluted hydrogen peroxide/water to clean out ear wax.

However, to the original poster, please see a physician before doing this. I would hate to see you put hydrogen peroxide in your ear if you had a performated tympanic membrane!

You guys...thanks for the replies... I didn't have time to post back cause I freaked out but I checked what you guys said. I asked my doctor and he said since it was temporary and went away fairly quickly I shouldn't be worried unless it comes back and it has happened to people before when they do a lot of cardio. So I am not going to freak out...yet.

Thanks guys!!

Go straight to your doctor, if you wait to long it will only get worse, DON'T STICK ANYTHING IN YOU EAR you may push something further back. You may just need your ear flushed and while your there get them to do both!
