My goal for this competition is to gain some SERIOUS MASS, while maybe cutting a little near the end ;).

I will post my first pictures later today and will be updating my log daily with what's going on in my workouts.

Excited to see how everyone is doing. GOOD LUCK ALL!

Hey bro gr8 that you are doing this man!
All of you peeps doing these logs are contributing a heck of a lot of time to EF and we all thank you for it.
Also this is gr8 cuz now we can keep up with you and follow along. Also we all learn from each others logs on here.
Are you doing a cycle for this bro? Just curious not trying to be nosey.
Ok bro best regards and best of luck to you in this.
Post up everything that you do for the comp and thanks bro!

I am only going to be doing a month long ph cycle. Going to try to bulk as much as I can during that month and then cut up after.

Sounds good bro but WANNA SEE PICS!!!
Also man post up your workout and diet. The more the better for everyone bro.
Good luck man.

yes pics! also as zed said, you all spend time here and the knowledge that xan be gleaned from all of these logs is enormous. much more than could ever be had from a few posts about what chemical you are taking at the time. keep up this journal.

I agree! the best way to guage your gains are with pics! and if you're entering the EF contest it's required.

so here are the starting pics..... Not happy at all with how I look right now. Probably the worst shape I have been in for a long time (maybe ever). For my diet, I am going to be on the get as much healthy proteins and carbs as possible diet..... Nothing too specific until maybe later on in the competition when I start trying to cut. Starting on Monday, I will begin posting my workouts daily so everyone will know what's up.

Good base to work with for sure. I really wish they would of made the contestants do mandatory poses. I just like to see the difference from like a front double bi, before and after. Shit like that.

Im assuming most people on here will be cutting like last year.

So if you can gain some SIZE AND CUT, I predict a top 3 finish for sure.

Everyone is gonna be juiced the fuck out for this contest which kinda sucks for you. But if you know how to train and eat, you can shorten the gap for sure.

I cant wait to see the cycles some guys will be running for this....lol big waste of gear. they might as well just give it to me. lol

good luck man ill be watching

Dang bro, now thats a workout!
Is this your saturation technique? Seriously man good job here!

That's what it seems to be. I am training a lot different than usually the last few weeks. wcjcMr.O and I have been trying out this new program, where it started with low reps and really heavy weight and now we are like in the middle phase were we are just crushing whatever group we are doing with a medium rep range while trying to keep the weight pretty high. I have never really followed a set program before, but I am liking being able to go into the gym already knowing exactly what exercises I'll be doing. Helps me keep that tunnel vision and stay focused and my strength is going up pretty fast.

I think you have a dam partner there bro. Mr. O does know his stuff in this.
To be sure gonna be watching you man.
Good luck bro.

Killed it today.... Chest and tris and I got nothing left. The sevens at the beginning of the workout are killing me bigtime. I felt like I could have been done after just my first exercise lol.

Chest:
Dips for sevens: (I really try to lean forward and get a good squeeze on my chest. Usually would do these for tris, but doing them this way is really tearing up my chest)

I did between 15-20 on all my sets and believe me, they were freaking hard.

hammer strength incline press: 3 sets
185 for 12
205 for 12
235 for 12

flat dumbbell flies: 3 sets
50s for 12
50s for 12
55s for 9 and then dropped to 35s for a few more

flat dumbbell press: 3 sets
70s for 15
75s for 15
75s for 15 (I hate going this light, but I was already dead by this point and was starting to have some stabilizer issues since I was so tired already)

decline cable flies: 3 sets (mostly did this just to hit from an angle that I haven't for a few weeks and went really light and easy)
50s for 15
60s for 15
70s for 15

Tris:
Reverse grip cable pushdowns for sevens:
100 for 12
110 for 12
130 for 12
140 for 12
150 for 12
150 for 12
150 for 12 (this weight was too light, but the reverse grip hurts my wrist a little so I didn't push too hard)

overhead dumbbell extensions: 3 sets
90 for 12
100 for 12
120 for 9

close grip bench: 3 sets
135 for 12
185 for 11
185 for 12 (went a little wider on the last one but still kept it pretty close. Going to close kills my shoulder)

dip machine for sevens:
I'm not sure how much the whole stack is on this machine, but that's what I was doing for all seven sets. I did twelve reps on every set except on the last where I did about 20. Had a really good pump.

Tough day and I am sure I will be feeling it tomorrow. Now just have to keep eating......

Stick your legs out in front of you and put your chin on your chest bro. That will help iso chest even more.

Tell me how you do these bro. Ive tried them and get no feeling from then in my tries at all.

Dam bro, Killin dat ahit big time in here!
Nice workout man.

reverse grip pulldowns 2 sets:
150 12 reps
180 11 reps

close grip pulldowns 2 sets:
150 12 reps
165 12 reps

bentover dumbbell rows:
70s 12 reps
90s 12 reps
100s 12 reps

seated rows: I did one monster set just trying to get a good pump because it was V-day and the girlfriend was calling me and ready to go out for our date so I had to hurry up. I had a few more exercises to go and was going to do calves too, but I didn't want to make her wait on Valentines day. Kind of frustrated that I didn't get to finish my workout, but I had a good night ;)

Legs today......... Ugh lol. Was feeling great heading into the gym and like crap now. Hit the quads hard.

iso leg extensions: 3 sets
Didn't really pay attention to the weight. Just went up every set for 20 reps. Got a good pump and was dead already after the first exercise.

Hack squats: 3 sets
185 for 15
235 for 15
245 for 14 and a couple of these weren't great reps lol. The higher rep range is killing me on legs.

Leg press: 3 sets
315 for 15
495 for 15
675 for 15 I had to use my arms to help me get the last 4 up cuz I am not used to these high reps and I was dead lol. Took me a minute to get up.

Walking lunges: 2 sets
holding 30s for 12
holding 40s for 12

squat machine: 3 sets (wanted to do normal squats, but I was already so dead)
I just did whatever weight the last person had on there lol. I was so dead at this point that it didn't matter. The hack squats really did me in today and I was pretty much done after that.

I am going to do hams tomorrow after my shoulder workout.

Dam nice leg workout bro. Yeah I guess you would be dead man.
Good luck bro and keep it up!

Nice dude! Killing that shit!!

Chest and tris today. Killed it!

Chest:
Flat bench: 3 warmup sets with 135

275 for 5
245 for 9

DB incline:
60s for 12
75s for 12
100s for 11
100s for 9

40s for 12
50s for 12
55s for 12

cable flies:
70s for 12
80s for 15
90s for 12

decline bp: did this kind of as a cooldown
135 for 15
135 for 15
135 for 15

Tris:
dips: 3 sets for 15

DB overhead extensions: 4 sets
70 for 12
90 for 12
105 for 12
120 for 10

skull crushers: 3 sets
60 for 15
70 for 15
80 for 15

That was it. Killed it on chest. The tri workout was pretty weak, but mostly I just wanted to get a good pump on lol. I will probably do a hard arm workout later in the week. Feeling pretty strong.

Back and bi/calves.......

Back:
Behind the head pulldowns: 2 sets
150 for 12
165 for 12

Reverse grip pulldowns: 2 sets
165 for 12
180 for 12

close grip pulldowns: 2 sets
180 for 12
165 for 12 (I went down because I had to cheat on the last 4 or 5 with 180 and I wanted to get really good reps)

bentover barbell rows: 3 sets
135 for 12
185 for 12
205 for 12

t bar rows: 3 sets
70 for 15
95 for 12
130 for 12

hammer strength rows: 3 sets
Not sure on the weights

high pulley straight arm pulldowns for 7s to kill it at the end....

Just tried to get a pump on the bis and calves. I was too tired to do a lot of stuff because the back workout was pretty killer.

Damn bro, you killin it in here! Nice :)

Damn bro! I would advise you drop the behind head pulldowns as they are murder on your shoulders and simply not worth it.

Yeah they ain't all that effective either, you'd be best off with some pull ups in there instead.

I don't go heavy because I know they are hard on the shoulders, but I would have to disagree on what you say about them being ineffective. I get a great burn when I do them man. Also, I don't even usually do them, my buddy and I are just doing this new program and they are in the second 4 week cycle of it.

shoulders

db shoulder press:
2 warmup sets with 50s
70s for 12
90s for 12
100s for 7
110s for 2 (this was a new PR for me!)

side laterals: 4 sets
20s for 15
30s for 12
35 for 12
35 for 10

reverse flies:
3 sets didn't even pay attention to the weight.

front raises:
3 sets
25s for 12
35s for 12
40 for 12

Then I did 2 sets of a superset mixing machine shoulder presses standing reverse flies and seated side laterals.

Then I did a bunch of bis and tris cuz I didn't really hit them this week, so I just got a good pump and headed out. Happy that I got a new pr on shoulder press.

How you doin in here playa?
Are you doing one body part per workout? How is that working for you bro?
Looking forward to seeing your updated pics bro.
Best of luck to you.

oh and I will put up some new pics today. Might try to do a couple of videos too. Going for a couple PRs this week, but I may have strained something in my chest so we will see..........hoping for the best

Hey if it's working for you bro keep it up. I sacked em ages ago in favour of pull ups but that's just me. :)

oh yeah man, I am a pullup fiend lol. I always do pullups in my back workout. The only reason I haven't been the last couple weeks is because I am trying this program out. I think pullups are more effective for the most part, but the doing an exercise that I rarely do is giving me a good burn and just hitting it a little different. I won't keep doing the behind the neck. My shoulders are horrible....

gym junkie...I AM JAY CUTLER. ahahaha

and actually closer to 70 pounds. but that doesnt matter. And your right, he can squat quite a bit more than me. And I have seen a COUPLE videos with him actually using good form. On his powerlifting lifts(except bench) he has pretty damn good form. Ill give credit where credit is due, Moya is a damn beast under the squat rack.

but using a weight that is CLEARLY TOO HEAVY and throwing it around without working the target mucsle and squeezing through the whole range of motion is incredibly UNIMPRESSIVE to me. I dont give a f how much you can do if you aint doin it right. It looks ridiculous, is unsafe and not as productive as if you dropped the ego at the door and use some weight that is going to improve your physique AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. I would of been way impressed if he would of dropped the weight 100 lbs and actually used good form. Not that anyone gives a F about impressing me but damn.....U cant honestly tell me that shit didnt look sloppy.

I re read my post, and ya it came out pretty dickish. I didnt mean for it to come out that way when I wrote it. so I apologize to those I pissed off. But I stick to my opinion and my statement.

Oh man, I worked out yesterday for the first time in a week. My shoulder has been killing me. My diet has not been great and I am going to have to really clean it up soon. Getting a lot of fat on the stomach.

not good man. Im disappointed in you.

my prediction......your final pictures are gonna look awfully close to your starting pictures.

Proove me wrong Playa. Quit slackin cuz the other competitors sure arent taking off a week from the gym.

I know. I think I have pissed a few people off once or twice on here. lol

I dont mean to seem like an a-hole. I would NEVER talk s*** to someone who is weak or small and doing stuff the right way with "light" weight and correct form. I would go out of my way to help that person and I actually do help out the younger guys at my gym almost daily.

I dont give a f how big or strong you are if your swinging weight around, using momentum and not getting a contraction in the target muscle, Ill tell you your an idiot and you wont achieve the progress you should be.

Elite should be praising the right way to do things. To help eachother achieve the best possible physique we can. Ill be training for life. People using sloppy form with heavy weight WILL have body issues later on in life. I wanna be around training for the long haul. And we cant do that if were all f-ed up.

This is what I think the majority of ELITE members think is a "beast" in the gym

Big Cliff Holds Gym Record 150lbs Dumbbell Curl - YouTube
210-Pound One Armed Dumbbell Preacher Curl Forced Reps x 15R - YouTube
150 pound dumbell cheat curls for 3 reps at 17 (bdw 166) - YouTube

hell ya thats pretty damn heavy. But did either of them do ONE REP? hell no! That shit is gay and they are retarded. But damn they are getting pretty good results huh? They look good right?

I bet you if some member posted up a video of them doing something similar. They would get a 1000 replies saying how they "are a beast". and Damn, thats some heavy weight. good job! Most likely from our younger members but damn lol Im just tired of it. Do it right or dont do it at all.

And I take that back Playa about you lookin the same.

I looked at your first pics. You have def improved. I think you can still pull a top 3. I kinda just said that to maybe motivate you more. lol but Im sure your pissed now. Sorry bro

For those that dont know, this guy is my training partner and best friend in real life. He didnt run a full cycle for this contest, but I know his training is spot on.

You guys are lucky he didnt inject. haha

LOL gotta tell you bro that Moyas bench is text book perfect per Dave Tate. Perfect for a power lifter, not necessarily a bber tho.
However for anybody that has an injured shoulder this is the form that you should be using if you wanna continue benching.

Just be aware that peeps use diff form for diff ends bro. Your a bber. Moya is a power lifter. So he is gonna do things diff then you, that dosnt make it wrong.

What the hell was that guy doing ? Lmfao. Ahhh you get some funny ones!!

Well said I totally agree with you playa !!

lol how i make my way in here... i didnt even know you were competing in this... ill tell you what... you do any barbell row variation and vid it and i will match or beat you using the same form you use... you too mr o...

this is a challenge, im calling you out... just because i use power moves dosnt mean i cant still beat you if i use your form, and i will.

I can't even take you serious dude. You are making it hard to not be mean. That row looks like a lack of power move to me. You aren't controlling it at all. If that is what passes for powerlifting, then I am glad to call myself a bodybuilder. There is one lift you can beat me at and that is squats. Put up 1 vid with good form before you go calling people out bro. That is funny. And to anybody else who reads this, I am not a d!$$. I tried telling Moya to be careful with his form and he gets all upset. If you want to hurt yourself, then go right ahead, but I couldn't in good conscience, not say anything when I see that. I know a couple very good powerlifters and I have never seen them do any lifts with form like that bro. I thought about apologizing because Moya is obviously upset, but if I was doing something wrong, I would hope somebody would tell me, even if I didn't really want to hear it.

you affraid to post a vid of your heavy rows? pretty transparent if you ask me...

and we dont do rows in powerlifting competitions... of course my meet lifts have to be strict... its like you've never seen a pro bb'er do cheat curls before... they dont just swing the bar without keeping their core tight...

I am just terrified lol..... I never said it isn't ok to cheat sometimes, but there are ways to cheat like curling your back in a deadlift that are dangerous and when those pro BBers are doing cheat curls, they are 1) still getting a good contraction at the top and 2) keeping that back nice and straight to prevent injury.

now my deadlift is in question?... how is a slight bend in my back on a deadlift cheating?... now you are just confused... of course form will break down to some degree when lifting near your max...

youre right, my back did not contract at all when i did those rows.. smh... my back was straight and tight, it only elevated from the plane that it started from...

because you are not supposed to have a rainbow back in a deadlift bro.... If you cannot keep the correct form, then it is too heavy. I feel like I am just saying the same thing over and over and you are not understanding what I am saying. You can disagree if you want.

look let me explain what a deadlift is to you...
it is a hip exercise...
legs, glutes and back are secondary, in that order...
would you like me to explain the entire process?

i train lifts.

corresponding muscle groups are worked this way...
the lifts i do will work the body completely...
everyone in meets has always praised my textbook form...
nobody lifts OVER 3.3x their bodyweight without the weight bearing down upon them to some extent...
can you lift anything even double your bodyweight? your log suggests not... just stating your obvious lack of experience in that department...

this is one of the worlds strongest raw powerlifters... KK

who here says this is not a legitimate deadlift?...
my deadlift is beautiful

Let's clear the air here. I'm not picking sides at all here. But playa calls himself a Bodybuilder, and moyas a power lifter. First off you are not a bodybuilder till you have stepped on stage in front of hundreds of people. Until then you are just a weightlifter.

Moya on the other hand goes to powerlifting comps, and has competed many times. Moya obviously has more experience in competing in power lifting than Playa has in any competitions.

Now sure his form might not be the way a BB'er trains, but moving weight is moving weight. 300lbs is 300lbs, Moyas a strong bro, and who are you or I to judge his form.

I'm somebody who knows how to do a lift properly. That is all I am saying... Because somebody has competed in a competition means nothing in this matter. I competed in a golf tournament last year.... That doesn't mean I know more than my friend that has never competed... The idiot beats me every time... MOYA, you have experience in competitions good job and I am not even trying to say you aren't strong for your weight because you are but your form needs work (that deadlift above is much better form that the other one I have seen of you. the one I was referring to was posted a few months ago. I saw it in your youtube channel and it was in a post on here a while ago). The fact that I have not competed changes nothing and in no way means that I don't know a lot on the matter... That is ridiculous. How about the fact that in the last four years I have gone from 160 lbs to 218 (at my biggest) with about 10% bf, before ever touching anything resembling gear.... Guess that means nothing because I don't care to get up on stage.... He goes heavy, no doubt and I wasn't even trying to put him down at all until he started talking sh%%. His squats are pretty beast. I was simply saying that if you lift like that, then there is a good chance you will hurt yourself and that it is unsafe to use poor form, whether you are a powerlifter or not. Anybody who doesn't agree with that, to me, needs some schooling. I am done talking about this. Be careful bro. Don't want to see anybody getting hurt...

Ok I've competed Ina bodybuilding contest. Top 5 placing. I was a bodybuilder before I competed and I'll be one when I stop competing. THat is ridiculous. What about Seth feroce turning pro in 3 competitions? Was he not a bodybuilder before he stepped on stage? I think it's safe to say he was a damn good one before ever donning the banana hamick. So I got a trophy, so im a bodybuilder now. Lol bow down to me bitchs. Lmao!!!
