pharm school or dental school?

I dunno, there's lots of fields that has been said about in the past and they're still going strong. With America's love affair with the pharmaceutical industry, I don't see it going the way of the dinosaur for a long, long time.

I think dentistry requires a degree of passion. It has to be something you're interested in and you really have to care about people, you need to have an eye for aesthetics and you really need to be empathetic to people and sympathetic to their fears.

Well - it certianly first is about your passion. Remember, Dentist have like the highest suicide rate.

But as far as long term earnings potential, Dentist is going to win out.

I have a lady friend who is a Dentist in Asia. Owns her own clinic, very wealthy. Again, pharmisict sit in the back of Boots pulling in slightly over minimum wage and that is if they are pretty.

That is how it will be in the US if we ever get our health care system sorted out. I mean, exactly why do you need to pay a pharmasict big $$ to fill up a plastic bottle of pills your Dr. ordered. Totally obsolete profession - really.

I have close friends that are Dentists and Pharms. A dentist makes way more $$$ big time!! Infact I make the same as my pharm friends... 80K +

Your GPA is pretty horrible, and your school isn't anyting special. We need to know your test scores.

You'll be footing a six figure bill if you can get into a lower-tier dental school. Pharma isn't really an option with your grades.

The BIGDENTAL salaries you're thinking are so easy to get are for solos hanging their own shingle. Will you have a few hundred k for startup costs? Do you have any UG debt?

You definitely need to explore your realistic options in detail. Find a dental admissions board or something. Things aren't as simple as they might seem.

3.3 is honors isnt it?

Don't listen to Samoth...not everyone is a genius like him.

i know nothing about dental school, but i do know that pharm school isn't easy, and there is A LOT of competition. my old roommate who went to a better school and had a better GPA BARELY got in after doing well on PCATs as well.
